I was taking the kids to my parents' house today. My brother and his family came in for the day.

When we got near the Susquehanna River, we couldn't believe how high it was and how fast it was moving.

So many people were stopping to watch the water. I admit, we did, too. The last time I remember the river being this high and fast was when I was about 6, when Hurricane Agnes left all of her flooding. (1972)

I hope that all of the people in low-lying areas are faring well. I used this as an educational experience with the kids. They were amazed by how muddy the water was, how fast it was, how high it was. It was a good conversation about the power of nature.

I just wish that it was contained in its banks and JUST an educational experience.

My brother and SIL said that they saw tons of flooding as they traveled up the PA turnpike and the rivers haven't crested yet.

I hope this message finds everyone safe and well.

I live in Clearfield where the west branch of the Susquehanna flows through the town. It is the highest I have seen since moving here and your right about the muddy water. Many roads are closed in this area because of flooding.
