Just received a form called Buyer Open Escrow

My last name is spelled wrong (they ended our name in "er" instead of an "i")

My sister's last name is spelled wrong (they have one "n" in her name instead of two).

And, they show that I am buying 100 points, when I am actually buying 150 points.

Goodness! I better be sure to read and re-read every single word in this process. My DH is already not completely thrilled I am purchasing, I am not looking forward to hearing what he'll say when he sees this. :sad2:

I would rather have a corrected form, but the email from the title company says that changes are just made on the form, and they will have them fixed on future documents, and not to call them with any changes. To everyone who has pending purchases, be careful !!

Our first set of paper work had the following mistakes:

DH had my last name and I had his. I never changed my name when we got married due to sheer laziness. :rotfl2:

DH's SSN# was all wrong.

Our home address was incorrect as well.

Well, I guess I feel better! :confused3 Although, I can't imagine having a job where accuracy doesn't mean anything! Must be nice, I guess! No, actually it would make me nuts if I made mistakes all the time.

Our resale closing docs had my name misspelled as well - sounds like it's more "right" to get it wrong! :rotfl:

Wow, hearing all of these mistakes would make me very nervous. I have only purchased from Disney and there have never been any mistakes. Guess that just shows another area where the Disney quality shines! Here's a salute to the Quality Assurance Team within the DVC family....

LOL - actually I've had mistakes with Disney as well - and they are ones that took or will take more time on my part to follow up on so I might have to give the edge to resale. Neither is perfect and everyone should always double check the details no matter what route you use to purchase.

I added on and broke up the contracts into 3. I then decided to change one of those (adding an additional 5 pts to it). First, on one of the contracts they over charged me. Someone in accounting did catch it before I did and applied the over charge to my dues but it would have been nice to know - or just have it refunded since the dues weren't due for several months. Worse though is that I haven't received closing docs on one of the contracts. I have the points in my account but nothing on docs back from Disney. I still have to follow up on that!

Who refereed you to the Escrow Company, your Broker? If so I would give your Broker a ear full and let them know that you are discussing it here on the DIS.

Yep, it's Timeshare Store's title company, I know Jason has been on the boards, lately - maybe he'll see this. Was thinking of sending them an email to let them know, but I do feel like I don't want to have them hold things up for me because I'm being a pain! I think I should call or at least email TTS.

Here is the exact verbage from my e-mail. The first sentence doesn't make sense to me, what do you think it means?

"You need not call with corrections and typos will not start the ROFR process over if applicable. We must have all changes in writing, therefore you need not call with the corrections, as we will make those at the time we receive your open escrow letter.
When your final closing documents are sent, you will see the changes at that time."

Thank you for encouraging me to say something.

I went ahead and called the title company directly. They are fixing the document and re-sending it immediately! Whew! I am glad that it will be correct when I show it to my husband!

She said that it's ok to call with corrections, they just have the info stated that way so that people understand that corrections or no corrections, it has to be signed and returned. She said a lot of people think if the form is correct, they don't need to sign and send back.

Whatever, though. She also said that everything was submitted to disney correctly, so that is certainly good too! One step at a time, I guess!

I also purchased from Disney who made the mistakes on my paperwork. I did not buy resale.

We also bought directly from Disney and had a mistake on our contract--I think DHs middle initial was incorrect. No way were we signing a $30,000 contract that would last 50 years without having everything correct. I think it took 4 or 5 days for the revised contract to arrive in the mail.

Mary,

Please feel free to call or e-mail me at any time. If I am not in the office they will transfer you to another associate. We all work together as a team and all specialize in DVC so that is not a problem.

You will start to see all the associates on the disboards. Thomas Yeary, the broker, used to be on here and he no longer has the time. We hope we can assist in answering some questions, concerns, etc.

Thank you for your post and feel free to email or call me Mary.

Have a great weekend.

Jason
