Wow.....now that isn't very clear............(new pricing....yikes!)

I felt the same way about Universal. We want to go this year but the price for a one day tickets is about the same as Disney and to get a hopper to see all of Harry Potter would have been $650 for one day for my family. No thanks.

And this is why we have never gone to Universal. I am not a huge roller coaster fan but I love Harry Potter. Still though I cannot justify the cost of Universal. We go to Disney because it has something for all of us. My youngest son is autistic, Disney is the only amusement park we have ever been to where he actually enjoys himself. I'd love to see Harry Potter world but it's not happening, such is life.

I apologize if this has already been covered, but what happens if you purchase a ticket online for a certain date/season, but then your plans change and you wind up using it during a different season? Will it not be valid and you'll have to go to guest services to pay extra? What happens if you pay for peak, but then go during value? I assume they wouldn't refund you. I don't plan on buying a one-day ticket, but I'm just curious how this will work, especially since I could potentially buy a one-day water park ticket and I believe they're subject to the tiered prices, as well.

Looks like a bit of flexibility (when it's in their favor LOL):

Single Day:
Prices for one day tickets are subject to dates selected on calendar when purchasing. One day tickets expire on 12/31/2017. Amount paid for unused expired tickets may be applied to new purchase that is of equal or higher value. No credit or refund given if a higher season ticket is used during lower season.

No mention yet on what happens if you use a value single day ticket during regular or peak season, but I imagine you wouldn't be able to use at turnstile and sent to GS.

Water parks have seasonal pricing now. Did they always? No clue, never go.

As my DS is sitting in his $100 seat at a Nascar race .... watching cars drive in circles .... I'm not having a problem with the price of a one day ticket, if I were to choose to do that. Look at all major sporting events, theater and concert tickets ... don't see Disney tickets as outrageous at all. Seeing that most traveling for that special trip are buying multi-day tickets, that per day price comes down.

I don't understand all the uproar about tickets "expiring" to their purchase value. I can't think of any other entertainment options that I can pre-purchase a ticket then use it years later. I am truly surprised Disney didn't stop this years ago.

I get that Disney is very expensive, and out of many folks budgets. It is a luxury vacation. There are many places I would love to travel too, but they are out of my budget. At Disney the one thing you truly have minimal control over is your tickets, even discounted ones are pricey. The amount it goes up each year is not going to make or break a vacation as you are already up in that level of cost. And it is possible to have a totally magical trip without ... staying on property, eating expensive foods and shopping til you drop. We go often, we go with budgets, we stick to them and we have great trips. Sometimes on property, sometimes off property. When something goes up (ticket prices, hotel prices) we just spend less elsewhere. We accept we can't have it all every trip and we'd rather go with less of something than not go at all.

I DO HATE all the cuts to the CMs. I think it will come to bite Disney in the rear as many will now have to look elsewhere for jobs. Some of the best might be moving on. It is hard enough for the front line to live on that pay let alone a cut to that pay. I DO HATE all the cuts to the characters and more due to ...... Shanghai - a park that I, a stockholder, believe should never have been built, particularly since we already carry the thorns in Paris and Hong Kong. I only hope that the park proves me wrong, is successful from the get go and we can get our park back to normal.

Thanks. Like you, I think they'd probably send you to GS to pay extra.

I don't see a price increase for multi day tickets. I priced the vacation I booked last night again just now and the 8 day ticket made the package the same price as yesterday. Am I missing something?

Today, an 8-day adult MYW with Park Hopper costs $449.
It looks like before the increase that ticket cost $410.

All, plus tax.

I didn't have park hoppers.
I have a 9 night stay in a little mermaid room with the dining package and an 8 day ticket. The price last night was about $4036. I just did that same package online to see and it came up the same price. Staying 12/29-1/7

With packages, their price stays locked-in after you book them.
Did "the system" know that it was you checking the price?

You keep saying "8-day ticket."
Do you mean an "8-day BASE ticket, adult?"

It just says 8 day ticket when adding it to the package. I checked on my phone and I'm not logged in so I don't think it knows me.

There are 2 adults and 1 child in the group

It seems that the tiered pricing plan isn't all worked out............or it was a smoke screen for the main price increase...........that has much more impact on most of us. I find it curious............if others don't that's cool...........

Doug

Why do you keep saying this? It's worked out just fine. Disney only applies tiered pricing to single day tickets. If you thought it would be applied to ALL tickets, that just means you read some rumors and thought they were facts.

No smoke screen involved. There are price increases every year.

Being single and with little family left, Disney is the one place I feel I can go vacation alone and feel safe. I haven't been priced out of it yet, and I hope that I wont be in the future. I am concerned this may happen. Lately I have been able to go every year, but I may just end up going less often if it gets too expensive.

I agree that the price increase may start to price some families out, but isn't that the point? People are complaining about how crowded it is, aren't they? .

I agree a major issue is crowds in off-season are as big in normal and peak times. Currently to get a reservation at be our guest, you might have to book way out 180,60 days depending on where you are staying. why not limit the numbers for each park. put a cap on the numbers that can get in/ reserve their spot for the day. i am sure there will be people against this but there are others against price increase. If Disney wants to make a bit more money have a VIP pass like UNIVERSAL. We visited Disney and Universal this past 4th of July and had a blast getting on most ride with it ( one time per ride per day for the price we picked) i just think that yes this price increase is partial to generate money as they have recently said they are not doing good. in some other parks( that is why it might be a bit more than expected). also might be thinking if we kick it up a bit will stop some from coming. all i know is there are some very smart people that work at Disney and think they need to think smarter on how to fix these issues. if the price increase was half don't think anyone would really complain.
