Wow.....now that isn't very clear............(new pricing....yikes!)

IMO, the 1-day Tiered Ticket changes are also acting as a smoke screen to distract attention from the ~ 9% increase on the multi-day tickets.

My prediction is the next change (this year) will be expiration dates on all new tickets. Then WDW will phase in tier pricing on multi-day passes.

Fortunately DW and I have all the tickets we need for the next 10 plus years. However, we do treat our 2 DD's and their SO's every couple of years, so we'll be feeling the pinch in a couple of years.

Personally, I don't think they raised them high enough to dampen park attendance and reduce crowding. Time will tell, but I'm confident reduced attendance thru higher gate prices wasn't even a minor objective. Makes for a good talking point though.

Given WDW never reduces published prices, they only offer discounts and bundles, it will be interesting to see what promotions they come up with to offset these really high park, resort, and food prices come the next recession. Because there will be a 'next' recession. Guaranteed.

Price for 9 day hopper next year is still fine for us. By the time we are going AK will be open after dark with Rivers of Light and hopefully Pandora open. As stated above, I too don't think this increase is big enough to lower the crowds.

Call me selfish but I don't worry about whether other people can still afford to vacation at Disney or any other spot I choose to vacation, so I can't honestly say I'm that upset with the price increase. Just means for us I have to work increases into future trip budgets and savings. Do I wish the resort costs were lower? You bet. But that just means we don't go to Disney every year, and that's also fine with us. Lots of places to visit.

I am glad I remembered to buy my tickets last night. It was just 2 tickets this time (2 day hoppers) but they would have been about $45 more today vs 12 hours ago.

And on tiered pricing....any long trip has to be during the summer for us (ironically usually value season for resorts) which will now be premium for tickets. Family of 6 may get priced out. Which really IMHO defeats Walt's original intentions of the park, but what do I know.
You will buy a multi-day ticket for your long summer trip, correct? If so it is the same price as if you went in (value season) September (for the ticket): the value/regular/peak pricing is ONLY for 1 day tickets (as of today at least!). Multiple day tickets (for example, a 6 day park hopper) is the same price no matter what day of the year you will use it for. They only ask you what day you are going if you are buying a 1 day ticket. HTH.

It looks like there is only one break point for park hoppers. For 2 and 3 day tickets, it's $55/ticket. For 4-10 days it is $69/ticket. I agree that the higher price on a longer stay will make people think twice about their choices (or think about an AP... or 3 days instead of 4).

That's how it was before today's increase too - i.e., hopper addition cost more once you got to a certain number of days (I'm too lazy to look up the details!).

Thanks! I meant to take a quick snapshot of the prices last night, as I figured some people would be looking more closely at all the options and noticing price differences for the first time that have always been there (like me!).

Agreed. Hopping has not been a "one-price-across-the-board" for years, now.

It has depended on the TOTAL number of days on the ticket.

Is it just me or they took out the Water Park & More option (only) and they made it a "Park Hopper and Water Park & More option"?

They offer each separately.

AND (like last year and earlier,) if you buy one option or the other…
and ADD the remaining option, the cost is MUCH lower than if you were to buy each at full price.

i.e.
5-day MYW base ticket: Cost to add Hopper: $69
5-day MYW base ticket: Cost to add WPF&M: $64
5-day MYW base ticket: Cost of both Hopper -and- WPF&M: $95

When I saw it was only going to be an $80 increase for my family of 4 in December. I decided to wait it did not bother me. If they had done tired multi day passes then it would have bothered me. I do not think the increases are that bad. I am not sure how many one day passes are popular?

Yup.

I will say that there are MANY times when guests can only use a one-day ticket.
And, that ticket is very pricey!

I wonder if/how the "Convention" ticket and "YES" tickets will be affected.

I felt the same way about Universal. We want to go this year but the price for a one day tickets is about the same as Disney and to get a hopper to see all of Harry Potter would have been $650 for one day for my family. No thanks.

Yup.
My niece was at Orlando for a wedding and she and her friends only had one day to spend at MK (she L-O-V-E-S WDW) and she had no choice but to pay the one-day rate. OUCH!

I calculated out 6.5% increase for a 5 day base ticket. is it more for Park hoppers?

Agreed.........but all the talk of tiered pricing............its just doesn't look like that mattered..........as you say............its just the regular price increase.
As I previously said..........

There is a clear explanation: There's no tiered pricing on multi-day tickets. Just because something goes through the rumor mill doesn't mean that it will come to pass.
Agree!

I'm curious about all the talk of tiered pricing and the fact that there's no clear explanation of its impact on multi-day tickets. To me............the impact to most folks is just a plain old price increase.
It seems that the tiered pricing plan isn't all worked out............or it was a smoke screen for the main price increase...........that has much more impact on most of us. I find it curious............if others don't that's cool...........

Less then $20 difference between value and peak season really isn't that bad. And Disney was built to make money, they were always built to make money. It's not a charity, it's a theme park. It is and always has been a luxury product.
