WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Mickeys.friend Do you pay for the Fed Ex shipping, and they reimburse it with yout Payment? I am confused, LOL! Also, what is the "Referal code" on the "Method of Payment Form"? Can I just go to my local fed Ex and do it there? Can someone explain? Thanks in advance!!

LIZ

If you ship via Fed ex, they provide their acct # so you don't have to pay for shipping. Referral code is if someone you know referrs you - that person gets a $20 or $25 fee. Let me know if you would like a referral code! Thanks!

Really....Because, I called today and got the directions(to send my gold) and gave them my info...and the woman I spoke with asked me how I heard about them. I said from an online discussion group that I belong to. Her resonse, "Is it the DIS"! I said it was, and how did she know. Her reply was that many people recently were saying they heard about them from The DIS. I asked her if someone from The DIS was getting some kind of a commission. She said NO. I just thought it was strange that she would ask specifically if that is whare I heard of them. Oh well...I sure hope what I sent in is worth something. I guess I'll get the call tomorrow, as I shipped mine this morning....

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I do know it's mentioned somewhere in this thread that if you mention Dis as your referral you get more back.

i haven't read through all the pages. so this question has probalby been asked before. what about cash for gold that i keep seeing advertised? are they reputable or not?

That was for Goldfellows. The other gold buying company people were using. They would give a 10% referral bonus if you mentioned Disboards. But, I think people found that US Goldbuyers was still giving a better rate.

NOT! Just google them and you'll see story after story of what a scam they are.

Here's one from this thread: Link

Hundreds of people have posted in this thread about how happy they were with US Gold Buyers and Goldfellows. That was all the encouragement I needed. I brought my gold to US Gold Buyers (I live outside NYC) and they paid me $3000 for my gold - a local jeweler only offered me $1600.

I've since referred about half a dozen friends and family, and they were also extremely pleased with their payouts.

o.k. I am interested... but I haven't read all the pages, so I will just be lazy and ask a few questions ;)

is there a specific post you can link me to with instructions to use USGB including the Fedex part. We live rural and it would have to be a pick up

the items I would send are broken or missing stones or they are partial sets of earrings - everything would need repaired or recycled. are these the kind of items you are sending?

I am still somewhat skeptical - seems to good to be true, but that is my nature... It seems if SO many people on a Disney site have had luck, there probably is not a scam involved. Once they send your check has anybody had trouble cashing or using the funds?

(1) Here's the link to the USGB site explaining how the pick up works: Link It is my understanding that the FedEx trucks also carry supplies, so they can provide you with the envelope. I believe most people package their jewelry in some kind of a plain brown envelope/package first, then insert it into the FedEx envelope. The mailing label can be printed from your home computer, or can be provided by the FedEx driver.

(2) Yes, but you can send in pretty much anything. If it's not real gold (i.e. gold-plated) they will tell you when they call you with the price quote for the gold you're selling. I brought in many pieces that were in good condition, but I don't wear gold anymore, so they were just sitting in my jewelry box, collecting dust. They will also test each piece to determine if it's 10K, 14K, 18K, 24K, etc. I had a few 18K pieces that I was paid more for. Conversely, most class rings are 10K and are worth less than the 14K pieces.

(3) I'm pretty sure everyone's checks cleared. ;) I will admit that I was a little nervous and marched from the US Gold Buyers office right over to the nearest branch of my bank to deposit the check. It cleared the next day.

You can also be paid through Pay Pal, however, a certain percentage of your payment (3%, I believe) is deducted for the transaction fee.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Just called, FedEx will pick up tomorrow...I don't have a lot, but every little dusty bit helps, right??!? :) :cutie::thumbsup2

Has anyone NOt received their phone call the day after they shipped their gold? I put mine in a drop box that gets picked up at 5:15 PM yesterday and have not received a call yet today. Am I paranoid?

Their open till 6 pm. The last time I called at a little after 5pm. You can call them. But most of my calls came around 530pm. I would call them and see if they have been through your gold yet!

Liz....did you use the label provided you by usgb? if so, you don't need to worry because your stuff is insured. :)

Well, I just got my call and I am NOT happy. This rather rude guy tried to tell me what I sent them was worth $40......Ummm nope. I know I sent a few really good items, so I rejected it. They are sending the jewelry back. :o(

I just wanted to thank everyone who posts here. I had been thinking of sending my old gold to Cash for Gold but kept dragging my feet. Saw this thread and got the courage to send it to US Gold Buyers based on all the good posts here from happy people. Well, I got my call tonight with my offer and let me just say we (Mom & I) are doing the happy dance:cool1::banana: We have a check on the way to us in the amount of $1848.49!!!! OMG!!!! That is a nice big deposit to our Disney Fund for 2010.

We sent in a bunch of stuff that was either broken or neither of us wear anymore.

30 rings none heavy, 31 small charms, 41 earrings, 1 small pin, 8 thin bracelets, 2 thin necklaces and some assorted broken chains.

Now we will gather up some silver that we don't wear anymore or that is broken and send that off soon.

Again...THANK YOU FELLOW DIS'ERS :thanks::disrocks:

How much did you send? I still can't make up my mind if I have enough to make it worth it.

I sent in a lot of stuff...not just gold, but silver, too. They just said most of what I sent was not precious metals, and I know they were. I am baffled...my gold said 10K or 14K on it and my silver was sterling or marked with 925....One piece I sent in was a large solid gold coin pendant....so $40 does not sound quite right. I am getting it back, though. So, no worries. I will see what local jewelers have to say....
