USGB is US Gold Buyers. I've not done anything yet but from what I've been reading on here it sounds like they might be the place that pays the most. I weighed mine this morning and have 2.4 ounces of 14 karat. I guess I should take it somewhere local and get an estimate before I send it off.

68 grams = 43.73 dwt (pennyweight)

today's payout from USGB for 14k is $23.95/dwt.

So 43.73x23.95= $1047.33.

I would suggest you do take this to a local jewler to get a more accurate weight in grams and to verify it is all 14k.

I haven't sent mine in yet, but I've been picking the stones out of everything. I had 2 rings with stones in them. Now I have a nice little baggy of diamonds and sapphires! I can't wait to see how much I actually get. I'm going to stop on my way home to a local place tonight and then might send it in tomorrow!

I don't have much gold jewelry so I'm trying to determine if it is even worth it to try and sell it.I have no clue how to even go about weighing it. I was trying to follow the directions on one site,but math is not my strong spot LOL Here's what I have:

1 ring 10K

1 ring 14K

1 bracelet 14K

2 charms both 14K

1 chain 14K

What do you gold vets think? Is it even worth giving it a shot?

How have you been getting the stones out?

I used needlenose pliers and bent the prongs on the bigger stones. Then on the little diamond chips I bent what I could, then put a safety pin thru the hole on the back and pushed. I did this on a piece of black fabric so I wouldn't lose anything

Take it to a local jewelry store and have them tell you what they would pay you for it. You should do better by selling it to USGB (at least that was my experience).

I'm stopping on my way home from work tonight to go to a local place. We'll see what they have to say!! I can't wait to see what they have to say. If it isn't over $800, it'll go off to USGB tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed!!

I just sent my stuff to USGB yesterday and they called me a little bit ago offering me $248.xx for my stuff. I really didn't send much, my high school ring, my husband's high school ring, 3 gold wedding bands (in really bad shape) from my mil that we had taken the diamonds out of for my wedding ring, and a chain. I really didn't think it was much, and I'm happy with the $250.

No, not quite. I ended up with $780 and I'm thrilled!!! If you have some, I'd do it! My neighbor went to a local place just this morning with a few necklaces and rings and got $420, so it's well worth it. I probably would have gotten what Oldironsides guessed, but the price of gold came down a little bit since then. I figure for some pieces that were sitting in my nightstand for years, $780 is like hitting the jackpot!
