WOW - I just sold my old gold........

I just called US goldbuyers. They weren't very friendly.. Kinda made me nervous.

They are a big outfit in NYC. Probably swamped and didn't expect the mail in response. Probably the mail ins are NOT their big money makers.

Bottom line, if you want CS and friendly go with GF. Seems like a small family business that appreciates the small but frequent business that Dis sends its way. If you want cold hard cash and a bit more of it, then go with USGB.

It's actually nice to have the two different options.

Good luck with your decision.

Whoo i got my check from USGB today!!!

They took the button off their site today too... thank goodness I hit it yesterday!!!
They are paying more, and that is what matters to me now, planning a disney trip for 6!!!

I to was convinced so I too went through my old jewelry and came up with 34 peices some really heavy too! dropped it off at fed ex! So if all goes well i'll have extra $$$ for DW! I went with GF because of the customer service, I called with a question and the owner answered the phone happy to help and we spoke for 15 minutes about DIS boards and life! Nice guy very honest makes me feel alot better about sending all my jewelry to.

Thanks everyone for the info, it is always so helpful!:cloud9:

38 Days until Wilderness Lodge!

I have read many of these posts and am finally going to do it. I don't know if I really have much but anything is better than nothing. I think I'll try USG but want to make sure that is USGoldBuyers.com. I usually see it abbreviated and want to make sure I use a reputable company. Thanks.

It is. :thumbsup2

Just got my call from USGB and I sent the package yesterday! The offered me $526.11. I took it. More money towards paying off my December Disney trip! Now I should only owe a little less than $100!

Good luck to everyone else sending in their gold!

Wooo Hoooo!!!!

Got my check today!!! That means.......DISNEY IS PAID FOR!!!!! and then some!!!

I am searching high and low for my wedding band & ex-dh's ( does not mean dear husband---"richard" is more like it!) wedding band to ship off!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I just came back from a local gold buyer and he paid $400 for 2 10K class rings, 2 14K rings, 2 charms, a bracelet and 2 pairs of earrings. Nothing was fabulous and I have not looked at this stuff in eons so I am happy

I will go with the cash... In this case I don't care about C.S as long as it pays.... THanks for information about the difference.

I'm jumping on the sell gold bandwagon, but my question is Does it matter if it is white gold or yellow gold? Please excuse me if that was a dumb question.

Does someone have the link for the whole formula to figure out how much you might get, how to figure the pennyweight, etc.?

I don't have a lot...
(this was weighed on a postal scale):
I have 4 oz of 14K and 2 oz. of 10K. Is it worth sending this amount? Can someone who understands the whole process of converting oz. into PW, etc. help me with this please?

Thanks!:goodvibes

Add me to the list of those who got their check from USGB today. Exactly one week from when I sent the gold I have the $$ in hand! :cool1:

I had no customer service issues with the people at USGB. My only regret is that I don't have any more stuff to send them!

Well GF has my package now :) however I just noticed the cost of gold has j gone done again today ! I swear I am always a day late and a dollar short ~lol! we'll see what I get offered...

I don't have a formula to figure it out, I just used how many ounces I was sending and kinda estimated.....I sent 8 oz total and received $2724.05.....you should do pretty well....if you aren't wearing it, it really isn't doing anything anyway, so any $$ you get is good!!

Good luck!!

Here's a link to an online calculator.

http://http://www.metric-conversions.org/cgi-bin/util/convert.cgi

Use the "Weights" option at the far right. You'll be converting from Ounces to Pennyweights. The next screen will have a field where you enter the ounces. Click the "Convert" button and you're good to go! :)

That's my thought, too. I have jewelry that I haven't worn for 15 years or more--and some of it I never liked in the first place! *LOL* Some things I like but that no longer suit me--my body has changed significantly!

And I saved anything that is "family" and needs to be passed down and a few things that are sentimental--even if I don't wear them. :)

Oh my gosh... I just accepted my offer (playing the game now that I should have tried USGB first ) but I am very happy with my offer since I had NO IDEA what to except or even what I really had... $607.00!!!! :)

Can't thank the OP for this thread!!

Just received my offer of $393.00 for 1 3/4 oz of mixed gold. I am very excited!

For USGB, how do you send it Fed Ex without the Fed Ex guy coming to your house? I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I've never shipped with them, only the USPS

Our Fed Ex guy is a friend we have known for years so I would prefer to put it in a drop box if it's possible.

Thanks for any help!

You can take it to any Kinkos,or a office max type of place, they will send it out for you. I dropped mine at Kinkos. There are drop boxes in all sorts of places. Even truck stops and some grocery stores.:goodvibes
