WOW - I just sold my old gold........

How do you get USGoldBuyers to pay for the shipping? :confused3

What is the first step? Calling them to arrange pick up and that is how they pay shipping?

Then do they send you an envelope to ship the jewelry in?

What do I include in the shipment? Just the Method of Payment form?

Then I just wait? Do I get a call? Then decide if I accept or not?

Thanks for any help. :goodvibes

Most of those questions can be answered on the usgoldbuyers site.

They give you the number to call for FedEx. FedEx comes to your house, you tell them you need an airbill and envelope. They wait while you fill out the paperwork and the website shows you just how to do it. You include what you are selling and your method of payment form.

I did all of this yesterday and it was very smooth. They picked up around 6:30pm and they got my package this morning around 9:30am. It is overnight, but I do live in NY so it didn't have that far to go.

Now I am not sure about the rest... they may call but to me it looks like unless you tell them to call they will just send a check or pay you. We chose check that way we don't pay any extra fees. Plus we'll have 14 days to decide if the settlement is good or not. If not, we mail back the check and they return the valuables. It looks like they overnight the check and you will need to sign for it.

I'll let you know what happens, I'm curious too! FYI I had 2 1/2 ounces of gold (mostly 14K just a little bit of 10K) and 7 ounces of silver including three old coins (which online said they were basically worth their weight). None of it was worth much (imho) and it was all stuff from the 80's that I got as gifts as a kid and never liked!! lol

MomofCKJ - Just talked to USGoldBuyers. They are definitely accepting more next week, they are just swamped right now.

They are paying MUCH more than Goldfellows. Might be worth the wait!

They received my shipment on Saturday and I am patiently waiting my settlement offer.

I just called US Gold Buyers and the recording said "Due to unusually high volume they won't be taking any more mail ins till Monday March 24th". I guess I'll try Goldfellows instead.

Thanks for the info. I'm not in a hurry so I think I wait till after Easter. USGoldbuyers seems to pay more so I think it's worth the wait.

Thanks!

Queenie122, I tried looking on the website some info was there but it was good for someone to give a play by play on how they did it/experienced it. I prefer mailing it out myself at my local Fedex store or UPS store than having them come to my house. That's what I'm trying to do.

Thanks again!

It looks like at this moment silver is $20, while gold is $1,005. While you may not get as much for your silver if you have a lot and aren't wearing, well, you might as well turn it into cash.

Thanks! I didn't think I'd get a lot but yeah, it was all stuff buried away that I never use and would never wear again so figured why not? I had 7 ounces of it. Even a few dollars is better than nothing :goodvibes

Anything that I thought my daughter would like in the future I saved. I just got rid of all the weird stuff.

No problem.

I figured save the money on gas for a trip to the store! The driver was very courteous and obviously used to doing this - he waited very patiently while I filled out the form. I didn't really want to bring bags of gold and silver into the store where other people could see it. This way I packed it up inside my house and even the driver didn't know what was in it.

Good luck!

With USGoldBuyers, will they give you a quote for your stuff first and if you don't like it send your stuff back to you? Has anyone sent their stuff to them and said no and got their stuff back?

Just got paid via Paypal from USgoldbuyers, but I was charged a paypal fee for this. Has anyone else had this happen?
Wondering if I should refund the money and ask them to mail me a check to save the fee?

PayPal charges a fee themselves - a percentage of the money received. That's standard for them. That's why I didn't want to use them - the payment is big enough to make the percentage significant.

Did USGoldbuyers charge you an additional fee on top of that? Either way I wouldn't think there would be a way to refund the fee...

beattyfamily,

I just checked the usgoldbuyers website and the form I used is no longer there. I guess they want people to call now? Sorry about that. I guess the best thing to do would be to call and ask. They'll let you know how to send it in. :)

ok now I wish I liked jewelry more... I almost always turn down offers of jewelry because I just never wear it. but I do have some stuff laying around from way back when. I can't wait to go home and see what I've got. it might be all gold plated, for all I know.

DH is lucky my wedding ring is stuck on my hand. I might have to go on a crash diet! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

ok, just kidding....

Just got my call!!! My package was received by USGoldBuyers on Saturday.

23 pennyweight of 14K. Expecting a check for $570 by Friday!!!

Yeah!!!!

Thank God the fee wasn't much just under $10.
For those with higher payouts you might want to avoid Paypal. I am happy to have my money now though.

Yeah!!!!

How much is a pennyweight? My stuff weighed out to 35 grams, but I don't know how to convert that to a pennyweight.

Did you get your money instantly? I'm asking because I went through goldfellow and the money came into paypal as an e check. Paypal put a hold on it!! It was sent to my paypal last wednesday and one of the e checks cleared yesterday and the other still hasn't cleared!! Now paypal says it will take another 3-4 days for the transfer from paypal into my bank account!! This is frustrating!

Not too terrible. They should be more upfront that there will be a Paypal fee! I only know because my hubby sells some gaming stuff on PayPal and has to pay that fee every time.

Definitely good to have the money in your hands so quickly though! When did they get your package?

After DH heard we were getting $600 for our old gold he started to yank on his wedding ring. :rotfl2: He was joking, but he couldn't get it off anyway!:lmao:

Thanks to all who have posted info. Just sent my stuff off this morning. I talked with a lady from US Gold Buyers and she said it might just take a few more days possibly until next Monday. Now I just have to wait until they call :hourglass

I just sent USGoldbuyers an email letting them know that I know they are very busy due to the price of gold and the Wall Street Journal article and I'm not in a big hurry but would love to get info on mailing my stuff myself rather than having it picked up. I said they can send it when they have time as I'm not in a big hurry. I could wait till next week.

I tried to weigh my stuff on my kitchen scale to figure out what I might get. It looks like it's 2 oz but I'm lost from there. Too confusing to figure it out. Everything is 14K except one nice long rope necklace that is 18k.

Can't wait to get the ball rolling. If I don't hear from them soon, I'll just call them on Monday.

Thanks for all the great info and I'll keep you all posted! :goodvibes

update: just got an automated email from them saying:

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to unusual amount of calls, we are currently

experiencing a delay in answering emails. Please note

that your emails are very important to us and we will

respond as soon as possible...

Hopefully, I'll hear from them in the next few days.

Thanks for all the information. I just sent my envelope off to goldfellow last night. I can't wait to see my quote. Hopefully they will see that I am a disboard member.:thumbsup2

beattyfamily,

I was able to get the email from USGB before they began telling callers to wait till 3/24. In the info they email you, there is a copy of a FedEx airbill showing the way to fill it out. They also provide info on how to package up your gold prior to putting in in the FedEx package. I decided to package it all up at home, and then go into our local FedEx/Kinkos drop off place and send it from there. Of course, I haven't done this yet...but other posters have, apparently. Anyway, I'm waiting till next week at this point, figuring if they are way too busy, they might lose my stuff...:scared1:
