No I put it in a manilla envelope and informed fedex that i would be needing a padded envelope and an airbill. the fedex guy brought it right to the door and told me he would wait while i filled it out. usgb emailed me very specific instructions on filling out the airbill.

Alright, I sent in 13 gold chains in several lengths, 8 different charms, 6 individual earrings )not matching, a gold stick pin. I sent these in today so I am anxiously awaiting my offer tomorrow. I pretty much think no matter what they offer I will say I was expecting it to be more and hope they offer a little bit more.

I asked if that was the highest offer they could give me and he said yes, that their profit margin was low, only 2% and he could not offer any more. Should have my check and my rejected stuff in a couple of days

Fed Ex with the check and they deducted $12 from the total

i am AMAZED at what i got! I sent about 4 pair of earrings, a couple bracelets and gold chains and two class rings. i was notified within days that my settlement was $469 and the day i rec'd my check, two days later, there was a separate mailing with a little bag with alot of the stuff RETURNED cause it was gold coated, not 10 or 14 kt. i can't believe what i got for the stuff that they kept.

it's impossible to tell w/o knowing kt. weight but just guessing, i'd say you'll get quite a good settlement with that.

I want to do the same thing, but what do you say to the people who are having the yard sale? How much do you offer them for it? I don't want to cheat anyone, but would like to make a little profit.

BTW, I had a yardsale a few weeks ago and a local dealer in scrap gold stopped by. I took him number down and his offer for my gold. I compared it to what USGB would offer me. The local guy's offer was almost exactly what I figures USGB would offer. I got my cash ($2,450) without having to mail it off.

That was FAST. My package was shipped Fed Ex to USGB from Oregon yesterday at 5pm, and today at 12:30 I had a call from USGB with my payout amount.

I have to admit, I was expecting more and probably should have sold them seperately to a pawn shop

$289.11 for 6 rings, 14 hoop earrings, 14 stud earrings, 2 necklaces and 2 pendants.

Oh well. Live and learn.

I got my statement from GF! That was very quick...they got the package today and within the hour a settlement was done. I got $232 for 4 rings (3 were 14K and one was 10K) 4 very thin chains, 3 old earrings and 1 tie clip. I am more than pleased! Thanks OP and to everyone else who recommended GF. Oh, and also got my Dis Board bonus!

I got my quote today from USGB. My check is coming for $2,102.76. Not bad for stuff I didn't even want. I had some 10kt, mostly 14kt and a few 18kt items in what I sent. On my home postal scale it all weighed in at 6.9oz. I have no idea what the penny weight conversion was and I didn't ask. I spoke with Steven there and he was a real sweetheart.
