I went back to Goldfellow on Friday with my Sterling Silver, one more gold necklace I ran across and a very, very, very thin gold bracelet. Got another $252 and some change. So between my first and second trips, $1683 and change for things that were broken, too small or no longer being worn (at age 41 I really didn't need sweet 16 or HS grad year charms LOL). That'll be paying for my next 3 (maybe even 4) Disney trips! Gotta love it![]()
How are you getting 3 trips out of $1683?
24k is not pure gold. They actually had a graph on the today show the other day about it because gold is so high right now. They can't make jewelry out of pure gold as it wouldn't hold up. pure gold is soft.
edit to add, it is probably the purest gold you can get though, not being a bar of gold. I have read a few things and there are mixed things stating 24 K is pure gold, while others say it's still mixed....I guess it depends on who you go to.
24k IS 100% pure gold - that is how it is defined. You cannot buy any jewelry that is marked 24k. 22k is the highest gold content jewelry you can buy and it is very soft; it is very popular in India.
In the US 18k and 14k is the norm for jewelry stores while department stores carry 10k.
Even American Gold Eagle coins are 22k. The only recent 24k coin was the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle.

...wanted to bump this up....
I have old jewlery from my Grandmother-it wasn't hers, she inheirited it, and hated it. I have two heavy bracelets, one is called a panther bracelet, it's very old. The other is really cool, it's very intricate, and I've worn them both often. Together they are about 4 oz, so I think that would convert to around 3.64 troy oz (?)
I could always use the money. Especially right now. I'm slightly torn about selling them, and family keeps telling me I should keep them because they are nice. But I don't really have any emotional attachment to them, other than they're nice pieces of jewlery. BUT, gold prices are really high right now.
Suggestions?

If these are old pieces they could be worth considerably more as jewelry pieces rather than for their gold content. Selling them online would be the way to go I think.
They sound beautiful!
They are. The one a jeweler called a panther bracelet is very wide and flat and has links-my DD says it moves like a conveyer belt. The other one is made up of bunches of circles with a gold ball on them that are all linked together. I haven't worn either one in about a year because the claspes broke. I have no emotional attachment to them, and since I wasn't paid for two months over the summer, I could really used the $$$.
