WOW - I just sold my old gold........

thanks again to the OP for this post!

I just booked a gold party through the home party company in the Huffington Post article, all set for 9/26 (I can't remember the name offhand, but if you can't find it LMK and I will post it.)

The recommend 7-10 guests, but she said a few more would not be a problem so I am going to aim for 12-15.
I get 10%, and if anyone at my party books a party through her, they get a $100 bonus plus the 10%.

I will let everyone know how it goes!

I almost dropped the phone: $1458.47!!!! Had to ask him (Stephen) to repeat it three times!

Wow...stunned....but very happy!! :woohoo:

Thought it was good quality 18k and 14k and most with good weight, but never expected so much. Have not had a job since May 2008 and unemployment ran out in June. This will come in very handy.:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for keeping me company. :flower3:

LOL , definitely makes up for the frustration!

No resort booked yet - my friend has not been able to find affordable airfare. She only has 3 options and a at least a 4 1/2 hour drive.

Think I'll call tonight and see if POP is available (even though I could choose GF now.:rotfl2:). One of these days I'll be back at GF, but that will be for the future..right now I'm just thrilled to go...hmm...but could bump up to a mod.:thumbsup2

Yeah for you Minnie& Nana!!!:banana::banana:

Go ahead and book that trip! I'm so glad it worked out, despite the troubles with FedEx. I got my check today, so it took three days. Keep an eye on your mailbox! :goodvibes

Can someone post the company they are using for all of these. How complicated is this process? Do we separate the stuff in baggies or what??? What if you are sending in a ring with some stones in them? What about something with little diamond chips?? Do they just count the gold?? What about class rings???

Are people sending in white gold and how about silver? Do they break it down so you know what you got for which piece? Also, do you get the money via a check or Paypal? I think we would be charged a fee for using our Paypal accounts right?? Thanks so much for any information.

:goodvibes

Hey Minnie&Nana..not going to hijack this thread, but want to say you KNOW you have been on the resorts board, specifically the CSR page...;) I think a Moderate is in your future! To keep it relevant to this thread, Coronado, Spain, Gold...I think it is your fate

:rotfl2: Love it!!!!! Yes,we've both been on that thread. ;)

micheleq ~ :woohoo: for you! That was fast! He told me it would go out yesterday, but it was almost 5 already...still, it would not take long to get from NY to here,..we get Boston mail in 2 days, so next week cannot come fast enough!

edk35 ~ two of my rings had small diamonds, but so small could not have been worth much and I've no idea if they pay anything for gemstones. One was an old ring with little hearts and diamonds from Lord and Taylor - do not think that added much to the offer. It was the good quality 14 & 18k bracelets and chains.

I put everything in a baggie, including the form they email to fill out, then put that in a small padded envelope and that into a FedEx envelope, which I requested from FedEx when I called. The company most of us have been using is www.USGOLDBUYERS.COM I checked it out before sending my stuff and felt comfortable - especially since so many here used the company.

Call the number on the website, they will ask how many items you plan to send, then an email will be sent to you - I had to call three times before I finally got an email (but the other did 4 came through late in the day). No one else here mentioned the same problem.

There has been a wide range of pay outs, so might want to read back a few pages. Good luck! :thumbsup2

I would and I did - I figured if it is a piece that I haven't worn in over 3 years, most likely I won't miss it and wouldn't wear it again anyway. Nothing I sold this last time was anything I would miss or was something that I would have wanted to keep for my girls. And with gold being over $1000/oz, now is a good time.

HTH!

I have gone through my stuff 3 different times over the last few months. I have yet to send it in, but I keep adding too. I just don't wear yeloow gold and some I held back and then I thought why? I don't like it, and just becuase it was given as a gift doesn't mean i have to keep it. I wish they would've given me heavier stuff though. LOL!
I have tried to get the emil 3 times now and it never comes and I treid 2 different emails addresses. The one lady I talked ot on the phone though did tell me that since I had alit of silver I should just send it on my own as they don;t normally pay for silver shipping. But I worry I'll ship it and then pay more than what it's worth LOL!

Do they pay for white gold?If so is it the same as yellow? Also has anyone sent in more than once and always had the same person call them back or is it just whoever gets your stuff? Also, has anyone sent in more than one package a week?Just wondering because instead of puting my daughters and mine all together,(since you don't get a break down),I was thinking of sending her's early in the week and mine a few days later because I'am still looking and she'd got her all done.I am not having anything come to her because of the way she hours she works, she'd have a problem with pick up or droping off to FedX and the other ways of shipping would be a problem also.Any help would be great. Thanks

Minnie&Nana, I bet your check will come soon -- I'm in CT, so mail from NYC to MA shouldn't take more than a day or two :thumbsup2 I'll be in Beantown on Saturday at the Children's Museum (DH is from Hanover, BC High grad), so my little check of mad money will go to that :goodvibes

FINFAN, I just remembered that you gave me an excellent restaurant rec for Naples, FL a few months back, right? See! This thread has some seriously good vibes (and great Disers!!) :cool1: Hopefully that translates into $$ for everyone! Guess now I'll have to check out CSR...

Mornin' all!

Sorry I don't have the answer to your questions Mickeys friend, but hope someone else will soon!

FINFAN ~ saw your other post in my email yesterday (on the other thread), but have been trying to sort out resorts for a short Dec stay and so much is sold out! Anyway, will get back and reply soon. :)

micheleq: Oh, I am jealous of your going into Boston!! Have a great time (although we are in NC , cannot take MA out of my profile yet lol).

Hope we hear some good news from others who have sent in their gold. MY DD did not have time to find hers over the weekend, but hopefully soon!

$1000/oz is that right???

Here in the UK the most I have heard of being offered is £6 per gram and 28.34 grams is 1 ounce or does oz mean something else in US?

If it is $1000oz I will be bringing my gold with me in May!

Thanks
Andrea

My husband just e-mailed me an article from the Wall Street Journal online -- gold hit $1000 an ounce this morning.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125239334081791743.html

I sent out my FedEx box to USGB on Friday afternoon, so it should get there today. Now I am really curious to see the buyout with the price of gold up! I only sent in three necklaces and a pair of 14k gold ball earrings, so I am not expecting too much overall. I'll post what I get offered!

1andrea -- here's the article I had posted last week. That's the price for pure gold. USGB has a chart of what they pay out for 10k, 14k, etc...

Hi there, I'm new to this thread and cannot believe what I'm reading! Wow! Does anyone know if you can take advantage of this if you live outside the US? I'm in Canada and could definitely use some extra cash. I have a heavy previous engagement ring with a large diamond in it, I've been meaning to get rid of it for ages but never take the time to try to sell it. I wonder if I should send it in?

Thanks in advance!

Melissa

Got my check today too!:thumbsup2 Sent my gold last Wednesday(9/9) at 10 am, USGB called me by 2 pm Thursday( 9/10) and have check today Monday (9/14) heading to deposit it!:woohoo:
