Wow...harsh...

I would at least try it once. I would have missed out on a lot of different things in life if I always went by other's opinions (like the one attorney I used to work for who sneered at the thought of ever taking his young kids to Disney World - when he'd never even been himself).

will be going with my grandkids (ages 2 and 4 1/2) so they might enjoy it --- hope food is goodprincess: pirate:

It is good and healthy for everyone to have different opinions on the restaurants in WDW. Though I might be tempted, I do not think I would ever change an ADR based solely on a couple of negative reviews. You should try it for yourself.

We personally love Ohana.

I disagree with their take on the food there. I've always found it to be good and have enjoyed all my meals there.

I go agree that the lounge act is annoying, and noise can be deafening at times. I understand its WDW and its kid friendly, but sometimes it gets completely out of control. I would like it alot better if they just served the food, and got rid of the hula hoops, coconut races and other nonsense.

We have ADR. Since it is only DD15 and myself, would you recommend canceling?

Honestly, I think DH and I would have had a great time even if we didn't bring the kids. The entertainer is on the campy side, but she only came out every so often. I thought the food was quite good too.

We were almost scared off be earlier reviews and I was glad we kept our reservations.

I loved Ohana's prior to the changes. Since the changes to the menu it has been knocked off my must do list.

:confused3
We loved it in November! We're going back in July with my sister and her family for their first time. I thougth the food was great! The kids had fun playing and we sat back and enjoyed the meal. It was a great relaxing meal for my dh and myself while the kids were entertained.:woohoo:

Wow! I never thought I would hear the word 'relaxing' used to describe O'Hana. Not that I mean to knock O'hana, as I do enjoy it (though the food can be hit or miss). I just never thought of it as a place to go and have a relaxing meal.

Who is writing these reviews over at wdwinfo? While they are absolutely welcome to their own opinion, as is everyone on the Net, I find it amazing that 'Ohana is the ONLY resort restaurant that received a nasty review (I sampled most of the other reviews, but not all, so it is possible - but doubtful - that I missed a negative resort dining review).

It seems that they usually go out of their way to be positive, looking for the silver linings at all other locations. However, they seem to have a real bone to pick with either someone or something at 'Ohana. Just as in some sports, where the lowest and highest scores from judges are thrown out, this obviously biased (and may I say "lunk headed"?) review should be tossed. :headache:

I for one never listen to what anyone else says about a place until I try it myself. We love the place been there twice before and after menu change and are going back for a dinner and breakfast this next trip.

We hit O'Hana's over our spring break trip. We were 4 adults and 2 teens. All thought the food was good with the exception of the grilled sausages and the won-tons. Our main objection was the service, which in hindsight, we should have managed a bit better by setting expectations with our server. It was our first visit there so we didn't have any expectations of anything other than a normally paced meal.

We had an ADR and was seated promptly. The adults ordered seriously overpriced drinks (but heck, it's Disney!!! AND one drink had a glow cube in it!!) We thought we sent the universal signal that we were in no rush by ordering cocktails. Think again! The appetizers were delivered on the heels of the cocktails and the salad arrived 30 seconds later (NO exageration!)...About 10 minutes later veggies showed up. Followed by the potatoes (UMMMMMM, a real hit with our crowd) about a minute later. THEN about 3 minutes after that the skewers of meats arrived--not enough for everyone and not all of the offerings at once--but the skewer dude did come back a few times asking if we would like more of what he had. So within the space of 15 minutes we had a table FULL of food and were gobbling it down like fools. Now, upon reflection, we should have taken a big breath and conveyed to our server that we were overwhelmed and wanted to pace our meal a bit better--but we never SAW our server until we asked for the bill.
By the way, the dessert was another big hit--we asked for seconds <G>.

We sat in the little side room which was close enough to the entertainment. The teens weren't interested in participating. It wasn't as annoying as it would have been had we been seated closer.

So here's the final decision for us. Our next trip is late Sept/early Oct with 4 adults, a 4 yr. old and a 1 yr. old. We will do O'Hana's again because the food is good with the noted exceptions AND the children will enjoy the bustle and we know to speak up if the pacing of the meal is off.

ITA ! actually enjoy the food but hate the whole "schlock" that comes with it. Ohana and WCC both have good food , but are painful experiences for people who enjoy relaxing meals....or even dinner conversation !

Everyone is more than entitled to their own opinions. For what it is worth, O'hana is a family favorite for us. We have been to O'hana for dinner on each of our six trips, and have more than enjoyed it each time. Although there have been menu changes, we still enjoy all the items. We also have never experienced any poor service. It is a must-do for each visit. In fact, we just booked our ADR for Oct.

We'll be there on May 10th. Can't wait! I'll be sure to add our reviews.

We will be there on the 10th too! Our ADR is at 9:30 so HOPEFULLY we can get a window seat and see Wishes at 10pm---done this once before....BEAUTIFUL and fun for the kids! Maybe we will see you there!:confused3

Went in Oct 05 and Ohana was by far the worst dining expirence I have ever had. Wait Staff was awful, Meat was dry. Did not even get any of the side dishes, that come with the meal, he waiter took my plate before I was done eating. When I wanted to complain to the manager I had to wait 15 min for him. Had free dining back then, and got my 2 table services points back for that night so that was ok, but will never go back there again!

We love O'Hana....a must do for us....yes, we dont like the wontons and stir fry....it is true

but the shrimp is delish.....although a bit messy, but they will bring you more napkins. Our girls go through 2-3 bowls apiece!

The sticky wings - also messy, but yummy!

Then we get new napkins and the kids are usually full of shrimp!

the potatoes are sinfully rich and gooey and yummy and we have always found the turkey & steak good! And if we get a drier piece, we ask for another one! No biggie....

But the dessert....Oh the dessert!!! In our opinion one of the best on Disney property. We go for the bread pudding...and as a general rule, I dont even like bread pudding....but this stuff is decadent~!

We have never left hungry....and mostly uncomfortably full!!!

I do believe that we should try everything once and somethings we wont do again....or at least not until a menu change....I have never let reviews steer me from somewhere, but I have had positive reviews lead me to great meals.

You can positive and negative for every restaurant on Disney property....the fun is in trying them all yourself!!!!

We scheduled a breakfast at 'Ohana for one reason, and one reason only -- Stitch! :stitch2: :stitch: :stitch2: Character breakfasts seem to be pretty standard fare across the board, maybe one or two specialty items, like the pineapple bread at 'Ohana, or the cinnamon rolls at Akershus. Other than that...it's bacon, eggs, waffles, juice, what you would expect at breakfast. We are going to see Stitch, DH's favorite character :woohoo:

We did O'hana last year and already have our ADR's for Sept. My family really enjoyed it. Our server was very attentive and the food was really good. I think the noisy atmoshere only adds to the Disney excitement!
