image.jpg Ok, that was sarcasm.
Our plane landed at 11 am - our ME bus was waiting for us and departed within minutes of boarding. We checked into the resort and by 12:30 we were walking into animal kingdom!
That's where the pixie dust settled.
We had FPs for EE, FOTLK and Safari.
EE was down for technical difficulties - we found this out after a very hot walk from Pangani (the baby gorillas are adorable ... See photo). We received an email with alternatives ... One was safari, so we trekked back to so that figuring we'd just do that one early, see FOTLK and get back to the resort a little earlier for dinner.
The FP line for Safari was all the way out to the walkway that leads to FOTLK!! I have never seen it that long! The next show was 45 minutes away - so we trekked back to the bus and are heading back to the resort now!
The only thing we accomplished was the baby gorilla - though I have to say, he (she?) was worth the trip!
Ooh - I forgot one thing! As the hippo swam toward us, a girl said EWwww!! - I said "I think he's adorable" and as he swam past her, he pooped! I told the girl that I didn't think he liked her comment.

Bummer... it all started out so promising with quick bus departure and hotel check in, what a let down! Well hopefully the weather is nice and you can enjoy some time relaxing at the resort. I think I remember you mentioned you and DH doing the Safari trek? Anyways, still remember how helpful your "real time posts" were last Spring when I planned my trip for May. Enjoy your vacation!

We actually changed the trek - DH had a heart "event" and the doctor advised against that kind of exertion in summer heat....
BUT, I splurged for the extra money and signed us up for the Wanyama Safari instead - which is right up his alley - it's a 90 minute up close your of all the AKL savannahs and then dinner at the Chefs table in Jiko!
I'm not really too bummed, especially now that I'm in my air conditioned room relaxing until dinner at Boma. I'm running on less than three hours sleep, so tomorrow will be a whole new story!

The live animals are definitely one of the hazards of the safari! The last time we went, our safari took 45 minutes because the animals were so active (December on a fairly cool day). We had to stop for them on the road a lot, which would obviously cause back-ups in the loading area.

Hope tomorrow is better! Maybe you can get TWO things done! ;)

I've seen that happen! I have a feeling, though, that today's insanity was a combination of summer crowds and too many people opting for the safari option when their EE FPs were canceled (like I did).
Tomorrow will be low key. Breakfast at BOG, hopefully a quick ride on 7DMT, then PP, followed by Splash (FP). Leave the park by 10:30, spend the day at the pool and recovering.
If we're up to it, we have 8:30-9:30 FPs for 7DMT followed by wishes FPs.

So with EE down for technical issues the gave you an option for a FP for something else (even something you already had a FP for?)? You couldn't just come back to EE later? (Or did your schedule not work out for that?)

Yes, we could have waited till it was back up ... It was one of the options on the list. But we really were just going into the park for a quick first day run. We have 6 pm Boma ressies and didn't want to wait around to see if it was going to go back online. We figured we'd make the alternate options work for us.
Ironically, while back in my hotel room, I got an email telling me that my FP for FOTLK was also canceled due to it being unavailable - no real reason given. So, had we waited around for that show we have really been disappointed!

We did that in May, we really enjoyed it, the guide was wonderful, the food even better.
