Why would I buy hoppers to stand in standby every evening?

Well take that Grand to Vegas win big than you can pay for your Disney vacation

well....some people look at it as going to RD and attending the attractions that they desire then looking forward to the FP+ that they did not have to bust for! OR....you could have a lazy morning...get to the park ...and VIOLA!!! Still have FPs to look forward to without having to be there at RD!

We have now had 2 10+ day vacays with FP+ and I am loving it!

Well, I can tell you that in actual practice our family found it beneficial to use FP+ in conjunction with hoppers. We'd do rope drop or morning EMH and ride everything we wanted standby at one park, take a break in the afternoon, then hop to the park where we had an ADR and our FP+ times scheduled. We got a lot accomplished this way, and it was pretty relaxing.

How did people do park hopping in the old system? Weren't the really good ones all gone by the time you got to the second park?

I understand that there is some truth in your sarcasm, I am not fond of such detailed planning of rides and restuarants months in advance of my Disney break,so I will take some positives from your posting and try not to feel too down.

Either gone (like TT or TSM) or extremely late (like Soarin')

Like another PP said, go toone park early and PH to another you have FP+ at...MAGIC!!!!!

That really depended on where you hopped to and when. But it often was possible to get FP's at the second park for many attractions.

Why would I buy hoppers to stand in standby every evening? There's around $300 in savings. with the old system we would get our fp and wander around the park just enjoying our day spending money at various park locations till our fp window arrives. now if I am in a standby line for two hours my wallet will never come out of my pocket!!! My new touring strategy will be to ropedrop...set my three fp+ up early...leave the park and sit at the hotel pool. Now we could relax and eat out of the hotel fridge each day!!! That's good for around another $600 in dining savings! There is some truth to my sacrasim here. think about it Disney executives! There is some truth to what I am saying. Disney is like Vegas....find a way to keep you in casino or parks for long periods of time and we will spend more. Fp+ could get us out of the parks quicker because savy touring folk won't stand in standby lines all night.

:)

Well, actually I think that's exactly what they want...people going to the parks for less time. More capacity!

Of course, when you're not there, they still want you onsite, in their hotels and restaurants..not quite sure how that part is going to work out for them.

Even during easter break last year we hopped to Mk nightly and picked up multiple fp's for the three mountains. Never had any issues getting late night fp's with the traditional system. Now getting tsm late night fp's would not happen as easy!

If I could take 2 10 day vacays, I wouldn't mind it as much either. (Great that you can do that, though).

Exactly, and since you didn't accomplish everything you wanted today you will need to return another day. Forget trying to do Universal or Seaworld :scratchin

Oooooo. My family is saving over a grand, too!
Instead of buying 5 day MYW passes we are buying two-week passes to SW/BG/Aquatica! ;)

It's funny reading all the posts of people talking about how bad FP+ is going to be when they finally get to try it. it seems to me that most of the posters with actual FP+ experience either love it (like myself) or are indifferent towards it. Not trying to rile up the pessimists, but this system has a lot of flexibility, and will be shocked if Disney doesn't have a couple of tweaks to the system to make it even better by the end of the year.

We used it and hated it. Most posts on their Facebook page are from unhappy users as well. It has potential but they must loosen some limitations for it to be "better".

This is exactly what I think WDW wants as well. This is the only conclusion I can come to that makes any sense. They don't want you in the park for any longer than you have reason to be. Get in, get out, make more room for others.

Well, your park ticket for the day cost the same no matter how long you stayed... people leaving mean more people coming in and more tickets sold. Also, ride lines are too long to stand in, so go browse the cute shops so you did SOMETHING. Wouldn't surprise me at all.
