How did people do park hopping in the old system? Weren't the really good ones all gone by the time you got to the second park?

Why would I buy hoppers to stand in standby every evening? There's around $300 in savings. with the old system we would get our fp and wander around the park just enjoying our day spending money at various park locations till our fp window arrives. now if I am in a standby line for two hours my wallet will never come out of my pocket!!! My new touring strategy will be to ropedrop...set my three fp+ up early...leave the park and sit at the hotel pool. Now we could relax and eat out of the hotel fridge each day!!! That's good for around another $600 in dining savings! There is some truth to my sacrasim here. think about it Disney executives! There is some truth to what I am saying. Disney is like Vegas....find a way to keep you in casino or parks for long periods of time and we will spend more. Fp+ could get us out of the parks quicker because savy touring folk won't stand in standby lines all night.

Even during easter break last year we hopped to Mk nightly and picked up multiple fp's for the three mountains. Never had any issues getting late night fp's with the traditional system. Now getting tsm late night fp's would not happen as easy! How did people do park hopping in the old system? Weren't the really good ones all gone by the time you got to the second park?
well....some people look at it as going to RD and attending the attractions that they desire then looking forward to the FP+ that they did not have to bust for! OR....you could have a lazy morning...get to the park ...and VIOLA!!! Still have FPs to look forward to without having to be there at RD!
We have now had 2 10+ day vacays with FP+ and I am loving it!
Well, actually I think that's exactly what they want...people going to the parks for less time. More capacity!
Of course, when you're not there, they still want you onsite, in their hotels and restaurants..not quite sure how that part is going to work out for them.

That really depended on where you hopped to and when. But it often was possible to get FP's at the second park for many attractions.
It's funny reading all the posts of people talking about how bad FP+ is going to be when they finally get to try it. it seems to me that most of the posters with actual FP+ experience either love it (like myself) or are indifferent towards it. Not trying to rile up the pessimists, but this system has a lot of flexibility, and will be shocked if Disney doesn't have a couple of tweaks to the system to make it even better by the end of the year.
