WOW, FP+ is worse than I even imagined

We were on on the first guests to use the MBs and enjoyed the convenience and not having to worry about misplacing a KTTW card. So much easier to keep track of something that stays on your wrist.

Maybe tinfoil hats would be helpful with the tracking issues :rotfl:

Classic Disney - get you so worried about the RFID that you don't notice the facial recognition system :scared1:

We were there last November over Thanksgiving, we had no problems and actually enjoyed MDE and FP+. We just got back from 9 days the last week of August. Somehow we ended up on the glitch train, the scheduling of FP+ was fine but whenever we tried to use the MDE app it would crash, tell me my password wasn't correct, tell me we had no FP+ reserved or dining reservations or just never load. I tried wifi and 4G, nothing mattered.

We went to the parks 8 days, everyday we hopped. It was a runny joke on who was going to be blue today. Not one turnstile (or whatever they are called now) worked for all 5 of us. And when they did turn blue we would have to pass a test before gaining entry. I tried to change a FP+, I had booked soarin 2 months prior but on that day my older kids wanted TT. I tried to change it on the app. It said it was available from 2-3 (same time as the original soarin) I clicked next and it gave me 7-8, huh?? I couldn't change it back. I went to guest relations and was told that if I use the MDE app I have agreed to all changes made by the app, so technically there is nothing they can do, after me not accepting that answer he gave me back soarin for 5 people. The line was crazy, people were all complaining about MDE around us. It was horrible.

Our vacation was awesome but that app needs some serious help, in my opinion. We go often, but if that was my first impression it wouldn't have been good for Disney. I think they turned this on too early without enough testing and tweaking.

Doesn't that mean 3-4 hour waits?

-J

Mesa had mentioned in another thread, I think, that waits recently seemed to be going down a bit and 90 mins was more frequent.

But even if it were a 3-4 hr wait, that is entirely different than all SB slots being filled for the day soon after park opening.

You have made visiting your park way too complicated, and have so severely lowered the value of the visit, I'm not will to spend the money. And I'm hardly someone who is on a tight budget.

I hope MNSSHP will be fun, as it always has been. But when it's over, we will retreat to Universal, where they treat guests properly.

-Jason

You are right - Universal IS so much better. They don't offer any kind of help escaping their horrid lines on ANY ride at all -unless you stay in one of their VERY expensive hotels. Well I guess that is not totally true. You can stay in their affordable Cabana Bay Beach Resort and pay like 50.00 per person per day for the front of the line pass.

blocking magic bands?

any ideas.

Expect custom MB metallic fabric covers soon IMO, made from similar materials below.

KTTW can already be covered below.

I always laugh when I read someone talk about how much better guests are treated at Universal vs Disney.

Can we just imagine for the moment that Disney came out with a new plan that allowed only onsite guests in Deluxe resorts to use fp+ and everyone else had to pay a surcharge? Oh and wait- even then, you couldn't get a fp+ for the most popular of rides?

Hmmm...maybe I like that idea. :scratchin

The three original hotels to which you refer are quite a bit cheaper than most WDW "Deluxe" tier hotels.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Universal Deluxe hotels about $300/ night less expensive than Disney Deluxe?

Certainly can be. I stayed 3 nights at Royal Pacific last weekend, averaging about $220 a night after parking is factored in. A long way from "VERY expensive".

Can depend of course-here is Oct 21 on expedia, may be more discounts at each for all I know though. WL is $228.

Like I said, content people don't take polls on forums and post on Facebook pages in nearly the numbers that upset people do. It's called self-selection bias.

Sorry , like I said not only do I not agree with this, I will go with the actual numbers I have seen on polls instead of a theory that is unproven.:confused3

Actually mesa I think the royal pacific can still be had for under 200 a night taxes included at the right time of year. Pretty sweet for a deluxe with the perks you get for staying there!

This is hilarious.

Actually some folks don't like being tracked, and card skimmers can read through wallets and purses.

Metal fabric shields the signals-pretty simple really.

I do neither because I don't care enough.

Of course it can depend. But I think I made my point. ;)

sorry, just pointing out there are WDW deluxe pricing comparable or even less than US onsite depending when you visit etc. at least it seems the gap has closed somewhat in recent years and seasons. For us $280 at the BC is much more attractive than $317 at PFB and certainly worth it over $259 at RPR, would for sure take $228 at WL over $259 at RPR as well.

But also substantially inferior in what they offer. Tiny rooms no real deluxe experience.

Would disagree on this statement. I have stayed in the hard rock and royal pacific and contemporary and polynesian. The amenties seemed very close in both places to us. The price was substantially less at universal than Disney when we went.
