WOW, FP+ is worse than I even imagined

Disney stats remind me of the ads for Preparation H:

"4 out of 5 suffer from hemorrhoids"

Does that mean the fifth enjoys them?

Gotta say that facebook move by Disney sure caused me not to trust the mouse anymore. Its like rigging a ballot box!

I also wonder if disney podcasters and bloggers were asked not to post any negative feedback about MDE and FP+. It's rare that anyone is openly critical of the new system. Yes, I hear a few snide comments, but no open criticsm. Has Disney managed to convince these people to keep their mouths shut?

I think it's more because many of them are local and therefore don't feel that urgency that most visitors feel to get a lot of stuff done per day. Especially when you have to pay for not only a hotel but a plane ticket!

Ironically, I think FPP seems to be popular with locals in general whether bloggers or not. Which I totally get, but they weren't who Disney built this system for.

This isn't just a Fastpass thing, I get this feeling in general from a lot of the blog/podcast personalities regarding many topics regarding touring the parks. I actually like to follow the out-of-town folks more because our perspectives match more.

You're probably right. I'm open to suggestions, do you have any to share?

How can you opt out of the MBs. Do you loose what FPS you have. I don't like the idea of being tracked. Is that possible.

For the time being, I believe you can still request a Key To the World card instead, but that will eventually go away. Even so, I'm not sure the KTTW card doesn't have an RFID with similar properties.

That is a good question. By the numbers on this forum it seems to be 50% that like it and 50% that don't. I think the numbers would be about the same there too. All I know is I don't like the track record Disney has had so far.

I personally don't believe it's 50/50 - I think it's the common case of a very vocal minority. People who have issues with things, whatever it is, are more likely to come out and express their concern. Whereas, when the fast pass plus system goes right, it's the kind of thing you might not even notice on your trip, and those that have positive experiences with it I likely won't say anything at all on forums such as these.

I could be 100% wrong, though! And either way, I'm not trying to take away from people who have expressed their opinion or bad experiences. I'm just saying angry people are louder than content people.

The KTTW card has a short range RFID chip in it as opposed to the long range chip in the MB.

However at the stockholders meeting, Disney executives stated that only 50% of the park guests are using the FP+. So the high guest satifaction applies to only half of the park guests.

Take this with a grain of salt but...
Per an article from the post gazette - on may 2014.
"On average, 40 percent more people use FastPass+ than used the highly popular legacy FastPass system," said Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs at a Disney press event earlier this month. "People are liking the ability to book [visits to] attractions in advance and they like the ability to make changes on the fly.

I am basing my number on polls that were on this site. There also was quite a few complaints on facebook before Disney basically took them down. I really don't think the whole system got the response Disney was after.

Like I said, content people don't take polls on forums and post on Facebook pages in nearly the numbers that upset people do. It's called self-selection bias.

It doesn't have to be a big number of people disliking MM+ to create a problem for Disney. It will take a few years for everything to shake out, but if Wall Street were to hear revenues, attendance or guest spending numbers were down 10%, it would be an absolute disaster. Even 3-5% would be troubling.

My friend is going in a couple weeks, and while dealing with a guest service issue, the person was like "90% of people love it. My friend was very put off, because it doesn't matter if 90% like something, her MDE still wasn't working, despite 3 calls to IT and hours dealing with it. The 4th phone call finally fixed her issue, but she said this is ridiculous and she'd much rather just go to Universal. It's either the greatest thing ever, or the most colossal turnoff ever. And if even a small fraction of people have such a negative experience to it that they change their vacation patterns because of it, Disney could have issues because they can't afford anyone saying, to heck with this place. Turnover due to, "aging out" of Disney is one thing, but I haven't seen quite so many furious people over something WDW has done before. There seems to be very little "middle ground" with this one.

So when there is a poll, do you like or not like the new system only people who don't like it respond? I am on forums and facebook sites commenting positively quite often. Sorry I don't subscribe to that logic.

Well this is a nice vague statement. 40% more people use FP+ than legacy FP. Well, what percentage of park goers used legacy FP?

Tom Staggs should run for political office. He makes statements that provide no factual data.;)

I am quite sure Tom Staggs has alot to gain and to lose in the whole MME gamble. So basically he will be a propaganda machine and hype the system up.

You're right, but I'm just sick of the "magical" spin. If it were so fabulous they wouldn't't have had to hire a legion of IT cm' s to support it!

All I can say is FP+ aside ( as of now not a big fan) I don't like the idea of Disney or anyone else tracking my every move.
I don't care what they say the numbers are anyone can make numbers favor an idea, and the facts are that for a system that has been up and running for over a year there are still too many glitches with MDE.
I understand that if you are a super planner the idea of FP+ is great, but this is suppose to be a vacation and having to check the website everyday is more like work.
It makes me sad to think that this may be my last Disney Vacation for a long time if things don't change
