WOW! Fantasyland Renovation

As much as we love the current fantasyland change is due. If this is done tastfully and with much love (not budget minded) It will be fantastic.

My only concern with the Impovement is Traffic flow. When the park is crowded you need to pick up your kids to get saftly thru fantasyland.

:confused3

As long as they do not touch my TTA, they can take toon town away :cool2:

If they would ever do something like this, I just have to wonder how long it would take to complete?? It would basically rip away a section of the park for many, many months..

The only loss would be Toontown. That existing section of the property would have to be closed-off while work occurred. (They could actually keep Barnstormer open with strategically placed construction barriers.)

The rest is mostly new construction on the old 20K Leagues site.

There would be some disruptions for things like the Dumbo relocation and work in the area labeled "Castle Wall", but the rest of Fantasyland should be able to largely continue to operate. It may not be very pretty to look at for 2-3 years, but that's the price of progress.

I'd love to see this happen. Although I think I will be taking my grandkids (DD's are 11 and 10).

It needs some thoughtful replaning and serious money. Fantasyland feels like an old house with different additions added over the years. They really need to higher a traffic engineer and do some studies first.

The PP is correct. It is very hard to navigate and this area has the highest percentage of strollers and small children. Easy to see and manage stroller parking would be a boon.

When my DD's were smaller I found it was easier to navigate Fantasyland by parking the stroller and carrying the kids from Attraction to attraction. One of my fondest memories is from about 8 years back during Easter seeing a young female CM who was incredibly stressed standing on a stool with two orange traffic flashlights trying to move the pedestrian/stroller traffic through Fantasyland.

Ok I think I figured it out....

That wouldn't be much of a loss for our family.:rotfl: The only thing we do in Toontown is the Barnstormer anyway. We've toured Mickey's house enough that we don't need to do that again! ;)

I, personally, think a FL overhaul would be great!:thumbsup2

That overlay picture really helps to visualize the changes! Thanks for posting that. :)

I think this is a much needed upgrade for WDW. I was saying to myself last time I was at the park just how run down Fantasyland is looking. From the looks of this with all the water and landscaping it is going to have a much more magical/fantassy feel, and isn't that the main point of the area anyways? If I had to complain about it at all it would be that I hope that ad a couple more rides in there somewhere besides the mermaid dark ride.

I love the idea of the new Fantasyland, but the question my fiance and I have. Where will Mickey and the other fab 5 greet? I know they've moved Donald and Goofy. They've cut Pluto to only in the front at certain times, and Mickey and Minnie are the only ones left in Toontown and parden the pun...doesn't belong to the toons anymore, but to the princesses and faries. So as long as I have a place to meet Mickey and Goofy I don't care what they do honestly. I'm not a princess/fairy fan but will eat at the new Be Our Guest place when it opens.

Well, there is the big Big 6 meet and greet area at the Character Spot in Epcot. Maybe they would ramp up the Big 6 meet and greets at the MK in the Main Street area if the changes suggested in this blueprint come to fruition.

I thought that as well, until it was pointed out to me that Mickey has 4 rooms where he greets in Toontown and there still times where the wait if 60+ minutes. So I could only imagine how big of a que they would need if they went to the same set up as Epcot.

the only space I could think of is on Main Street behind Exposition Hall. Yes, Cast Members would lose some parking but there is just a big parking lot there. This really is the only flaw I'm finding in these plans.

I think the changes look interesting, but I'd be disappointed if they did away with Toon Town altogether. For those of us with small kids, it's a really fun area of the park. And while I understand that the wait for Dumbo is really long, do we really need two of them right next to each other?

As for the rumor part, I think it was intentionally leaked or a fake, but I don't think it's the final thing by far. Disney loves to keep things secret for as long as they can.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but when it says "Cinderella" and "Aurora" attraction, does it mean that these will be actual attractions or just meet and greets...With such a huge expansion project it would be awesome to have 2 new dark rides.

did someone say they are moving the Magic Carpets out of Adventureland or moving them out altogether?

They aren't touching them, they aren't in Fantasyland

From the looks of it Ariel, Belle, and Cinderella are all getting dark rides (think peter pan, pooh, and snow white)

Aurora looks like a movie of some sort. Looking at the paths it looks like each princess will meet in her section, because as you exit the ride there are 2 exit paths one leading to a building (not marked merch) and one that leads to the main area. (or a building marked mearh)

Yes, this I know. They are hard to miss right there in the middle of the courtyard in Adventureland. I actually was referring to post #2 in this thread and could not figure out how the Magic Carpets entered this discussion and if they knew something the rest of us did not.

My heart would not be broken if the Magic Carpets left Adventureland and were relocated to Fantasyland area.

The flying carpest don't really fit in Adventureland from a theming point of view - it is next door to the Jungle Cruise and POTC and all of the area theming is more tropical. Then you have a giant Arabic carpet ride with a golden camel. Might as well plop the Indy cars into Frontierland by that logic.

Here's what it might look like... Blueprint superimposed as close as I could over actual satellite imagery.

Apologies I know this is oversized but might be of interest to some.
