On Friday I left the office with light brown hair.
Today I arrived at the office with dark chocolate brown hair.
A noticeable difference.

Not ONE person has commented on it...not even the rhetorical "did you dye your hair?".

I guess it looks that bad...

Naw, quite the opposite. When you do a bad job, they notice! When you do a good job, you might get a quizzical "did you do something different?" around 3pm!

Well, this is just me, but often I'll notice something like that and be afraid to mention it, because chances are the person made the change two weeks ago and I didn't come out from under my oblivious cloud to see it until now. Then I get the, "gee, thanks" ( ) look from the person.

It's just like I tell my teeny-bopper girls, nobody really cares about your looks!!!

Years ago, I had really long way too blonde hair, so I decided to low-light it. To me it was soooooo dark. Again, hardly anyone noticed.

I had the reverse a few months ago. I got my haircut and everybody -- including the guys -- noticed. I was like, wow, it must have REALLY looked bad before if everyone is commenting.

That's happened to me too...usually when I chop my hair.

I dunno...maybe people are going with the "if you can't' say something nice...dont' say anything at all"

ah well - *I* like it!

and...odd...one coworker zeroed in on my shoes saying "are those new?!?!?" She knows my shoe wardrobe...but not my hair? heheh

The girl I'm pretty close with is out today...I bet she'll notice/comment in 2.5 seconds tomorrow.

Commenting on a change in haircolor is like commenting on whether or not a woman is pregnant.

I'm sure everyone has noticed you changed you haircolor but they don't know whether to say anything or not. A lot of people color their hair to cover gray or to "become" blonde. It is supposed to look "natural" therefore, if someone notices it must to be to natural or gradual.

I know I'm not really explaining this well, but I think a lot of people think it is rude to comment on haircolor changes but not haircuts. :confused3

There lies the difference between men and women.

Case in point: DH has gray hair, has for a while. Well, when he was thirty and getting called 'gramps', he decided to color his hair with just for men. It went well, and his coworkers all commented on it-positively. I have to admit, he did a good job and it looked like what it had when we were in our early 20's (granted, it was a lot longer then, but I'm glad it was short!)

His boss, who was equally gray, decides he's going to color his hair, since DH's looked good. Chooses black (IIRC, it was Preference by L'Oreal). It turned out shoe polish black! All the guys teased him ruthlessly. Okay, so he decides to lighten it-it turns ORANGE-pumpkin orange! Boss couldn't stand the ridicule, so he shaved his head. He never attempted coloring it again!

Yep, the guys were teasing him forever about his hair. Women wouldn't have said a thing (but laughing just the same).

I know exactly what you trying to say...but I'll tell you this...being 'the baby' in my office (I'm 28!!) coworkers love to point things out about me...my earrings/my clothing/my hair/weight loss/etc... so it's never been a sore subject with me when people point stuff out...and they all know it.

If I get the 3pm "did you do something different..." deal , I'll let ya'll know. heheh

I think you look fabulous!

Why thank you! :) heheh

I know what you mean, you feel a little self-conscious already wondering how people will like/not like your hair... you come in with something noticeably different and noone comments. I've had that to me also. It always makes me think, gee it must look awful if people don't want to comment. I end up doing multiple checks in the ladies room mirror, just to reassure myself.

::yes::

bingo

The important thing is that you like it and you're happy with it. :) If they ask you and they didn't say much just tell them you like it and happy with it.

:rotfl: That is sooooo me. :teeth:

Well if I don't know you super super well, as in you are my closest and dearest friend who I could tell anything too then I wouldnt' say anything. I did one time to a friend or at least at the time I thought she was my friend. Her hair looked fantastic. I couldn't really tell if it was a new shade, cut, style or shampoo but it looked great so soft and shiney. SO I said to her how nice it looked and wondered what she did and then I asked the dreaded ? was it a new color well....apparently that was the biggest mistake and I got chewed out. So never again. And as for this person, well she could look like a million bucks and all she would get out of me is HI :rotfl:

Be thankful.

Last summer during a period of really bad depression, I dyed my normally light brown hair JET BLACK - you know the oriental black that is so deep it is blueish. DH loved it, unfortunately he was the only one.
I saw my Aunt out at a restaurant and she squeeled loudly - Child, what you have you done to yourself - that doesn't suit you at all. I was mortified. My poor Uncle was on the other side of the table looking just as horrified as I was. Several months later (when my hair was back to normal) at a family function, he hugged me and told me, I didn't think your hair looked bad, she shouldn't have said that to you. Bless his heart!!

(did that make sense...for some reason I'm REALLY tired today ;))

I have been known to ask my DH "have you always had that goatee?" LOL
