I booked the FD package yesterday and of course the airfare went way up today. From PIT in June, yesterday was 202, and today 279. If they don't go down, we may not go. Usually our trips are planned 6-8 mos. in advance and that's when I get airfare. Does anyone have a guess that the fare will go down in a few days? Do they raise it over the weekend b/c more people are on the internet buying?

I guess that the fares will not go down in a few days. I suggest you just keep checking often.

I find that around 3 months out is a window that prices drop as well. I agree with above that Tuesdays and Wednesday are cheaper. Also, keep an eye on seats available on your flight. If the airplane is not that full prices will drop. I fly Continental so you can keep an eye on booked seats.

I would check Allegiant as well since we live just outside Toronto and airfares here are crazy compared to flying out of the US. We scored return flights for March break for $124 rt including taxes. For 4 tickets we paid $496.00 total from Youngstown to St.Petersburgh Clearwater airport. Flight was great and actually arrived early. We just took a carry on bag and opted for open seating so we didn't get dinged with extra fees.

that's a better price for weekend travel dates for the trip in latter part of June than the last time i checked a few weeks ago

if it makes you feel any better, my dates the end of July were $451 pp/rt:sad2:makes the $325 pp/rt i spent few weeks ago a bargin - not!

check out AT, they did have some evening NS flights down in the $125 range that could trim some $, might want to consider mixing and matching airlines, we do it all the time, good luck.

I agree with mixing and matching, I was able to pay $721 R/T for 2. If I would have bought them from the same airline, it would have been almost $1000:scared1:

I wouldn't count on it going down. The last time I went in June PIT-MCO, the fare started at $360 and never went down (Southwest). I ended up exchanging some hotel points for SW credits and got a free ticket, I did have to go a day earlier.

Airtran had come out with a fare sale and everyone followed suit. THe sale ended on 3/24 and that is why fares shot up yesterday.

I went to book our sw flight last night and it was 134 today t is 174 (x4) but airtran is still the smae price as the day before $134. plus bagage fees. I have never had any luck with the lower fares on tuesday and wed idea but here is hoping as right now we are booked to go to MCO but no way home.

car rates are horrible too compared to last year.

Kinda regretting buying more dvc points last month.

OP check your days/rates, checked today & for 2nd time since i purchased them, I was able to spend another $10 pp:laughing:to bump up to a better flight down. Now, we're on the 1st one out (my fav as to working thru weather delays, etc.).

Yep, it's a real bargin:rolleyes1 although happy as yesterday same flight was over $60 more pp. Could be argued it's the same old sales tactic disney uses for the hotel rooms - jack the rack up & offer sales to make customers think they've gotten "a deal" - it always works for me lol.

mine were still high today so I bit and bought them I got 1 ticket at the cheaper price and the other four at the more expensive price. I could be wrong but I think that means they have sold all the cheaper seats? they were both wanna getaway fares though....I will watch for a sale. It works as if I get a good enough credit I weill take the kids back for a mini vacation on my own.

A week ago they predicted that my flight price would go down by $45 so I waited and sure enough it went down but it went down $72

so they were wrong then? lol congrats to you

my experience w/BING when they 'miss' they do it by a mile:rolleyes1

I check daily when i'm waiting to book, Bing repeatedly said to wait to book my July trip. Despite the fare doubling in price from when i originally started to track it, they still haven't listed it as a "buy".:confused3

i got nervous when the libyan issue started up, but sheepishly followed Bing's advice for a week.:headache: It steadily crept up over a week, the following Monday i pulled the trigger and am glad I did since it was on SWA. Worst case, i'll have a credit for another trip. I'm going back to farecompare

I was checking yesterday and today for June (from Cincinnati) and it's $275-$300+. It doesn't help that I'm looking at weekend days and then it hit me to try and look at the seats and sure enough on the Sat flights, all 3 non stop planes have no seats and most Friday and Sunday planes are the same way.

We might drive now. It's 15 hours and my aunt lives in ATL which is a 1/2 way point and free so we might be saving money even though we are typical FL flyers! It doesn't help that we don't have SW in the Cincinnati area and it doesn't really pay to travel 2 hours to an airport that does!

I'm going to keep watching too, we've gotten cheaper flights when we booked them during the week and not on the weekend!

Well I for one chickened out and booked our flights at a higher price than I wanted to. I was going to hold firm until Tuesday, but started having doubts tonight that they would go even higher tomorrow. I guess if they go down, I can use the credit on our next trip.
