Wow! $15K for a fridge?!?!

For that money, a fridge had better not only store the food but cook it and then wash the dishes. Wow!

For that price it better make my meals for me too!

Does it stock itself and make sandwiches? 'Cause that's about the only way I'd pay 15K for a fridge.

That's just dumb :confused3 I can't imagine that it actually keeps food any colder, fresher or crisper than most other refrigerators.

Wow is right!

Though we are redoing our kitchen right now and you should see what DW intends to spend on the back splash! :faint:

What I want to know is Is the $15,000 before or after the 85% off deal?:rotfl2:

Amazing!!

There was an article in the Sunday Real Estate section on kitchen remodeling and how the kitchen is now the focal point in the home. The article went on to say that people are spending tons of money on remodeling their kitchens. Many people are opting for "custom" kitchens and the pricing of remodeling is anywhere from $50K and up. One family spent $150K on remodeling their kitchen. People are spending $20K - $30K on appliances alone!!

We remodeled our kitchen in 2001, and I thought it was expensive, but it doesn't compare to what this article said people are spending.

Regarding the $15K refrig, I would be afraid to use it!!!

Things are incredibly expensive, though, even if you don't go nuts. We got our cabinets directly from the Kraft-Made warehouse in Warren, OH and spent $5000 on cabinets that would cost $30,000 if you bought them from Home Depot - and they are not really particularly decadent cabinets.
IMO, some of these prices are crazy. (Appliances came from Sears - on sale ;))

I think with a lot of people with really high incomes we will start seeing more and more crazy stuff like this.

I agree that things are incredibly expensive. When we remodeled our kitchen I really shopped around for appliances. The big splurge for me was the oven and range. We do a lot of cooking, parties, and holidays, so I needed a larger oven for such things.

I think if people have the disposable income and want to spend it remodeling their kitchen to be everything they ever wanted, more power to them. I would question anyone that was willing to take on debt to have the Uber kitchen.

But you can spend 1/5 of that (which is still a lot IMO) for a fridge that does exactly the same thing. Keeps things frozen and cold.

wow.

It doesnt even have a TV in it.

I nannied once for a family who lived in this grand old house that had been remodled and they had a walk in sub zero fridge and seperate walk in freezer.
They had everything you can imagine in that house though. I guess if money were no issue.

I get your point, and believe me I would never spend $15K on a fridge. I did spend so extra money on the oven/range, but it is in no way comparable to the prices being spent of these ultimate kitchens.

The fridge thing makes me think back to when we were looking at appliances. We had gone into the Home Expo to look at their selection. The had the biggest fridge and freezer that i had ever seen. I just couldn't believe the actual size, and how big your kitchen would need to be just to have the room to put it. Then I opened it up, and thought there's so much space, but I would never be utilizing most of it, also the price tag alone put it way out of range.

I guess there are people who have the room, the money, and the want for such extravagent appliances. I'm just not one of them.

If I were getting a high end kitchen then I would do what our friends did. They have a sub zero fridge without a freezer in their kitchen. In their huge pantry they have a seperate sub zero freezer. That is so nice! We just spent $3000 for a fridge but would have bought the larger 6 ft across one for $8000 if we had the room. I wouldn't pay over $8000 for a fridge but some people like them.
