Would you?

My first reaction was "ewwww - no!" but some other posts made me think there may be some situations that I might possibly be OK with it.

That said, my kids would completely freak out and no way would they go for it.

No, we had someone ask us that when my son was one and I just told them he was afraid of strangers and then they offered the seat to me. N

I just won't get on a bus that is already standing room only. I rode to MK for 25 minutes standing and almost fell when the bus driver turned a corner. I guess I was trying to hold onto a kid and didn't brace myself well. DH caught me.

I offered to hold a child once on the bus. DH was holding DD and I was holding DS. I offered to hold a little girl on my other knee who looked exhausted and was stumbling when the bus turned corners. Her mom said no. I think the little girl was disappointed. I hesitated before asking but the little girl looked so pitiful. I suggested she sit on the floor then and her mom let her do that.

I think it would depend on the situation I would also be more comfortable if they were holding another child.

Out of curiosity, for those who have answered "yes" or "maybe", would your answer be the same if you were on public transportation in your local city as opposed to being at Disney?

It would never be a possibility for me even if I was ok with it because my daughter would absolutely freak out. She's extremely shy and turns her head away if someone she doesn't know starts talking to her. We even had an issue at her pediatrician's office today and we've been seeing the same doctor for 2 years.

No, but my mother (who was very "grandmotherly" even before she was officially a grandmother) has offered before and some people have said yes. (I always offer my seat, but she has permanent nerve damage in her legs from chemo, so sitting is best for her.) Once, we were sitting in a very crowded spot of MK waiting for a parade and she offered her lap to a little girl who wanted to see the parade. I was very surprised her father said yes, but the little girl had a blast watching the parade up close. It was super cute

No because I don't live in a city where I ever need public transportation. It wasn't as if that older lady was going to steal or harm my dd. The bus was packed and she couldn't have gotten off if she wanted and I was standing less than a foot away. I am not a germaphobe but obviously if she had seemed ill I would have passed. My kids went to daycare as babies so they were used to people they didn't know.

This isn't an issue now since they are preteen/teen aged. We always have the option of a seat because my oldest now uses an ECV but my kids still have always stood. Next trip we will have two strollers (my dd baby and her friends baby) and the ECV and possibly a wheelchair for my youngest dd depending how her health is at travel (same heart condition as oldest dd ).

I had someone plop their kid on my lap as her other was crying. they had just gotten on the bus. I felt bad as she had toddlers she was like omg I just practically threw my kid at you without asking. meanwhile I did have a kid put his head in my lap and fall asleep late night the bus was dark the parents were talking to my husband the little guy was talking to my daughter who drifted out and then he did lol disney I think is a bit different. would I probably not my kids, but if I saw a struggling mom or dad if give up the seat or offer depending on the situation. now the last time we went I was 5 months pregnant and looked like 7! I had a man tell me standing was good for pregnancy and didn't offer his seat. I hadn't even asked or looked at him lol while I tend to rather stand I thought it was rude .

If I had a child small enough I needed to hold them I would absolutely not get on a standing room only bus. We got on a few when all I had to do was support myself and I can't imagine trying to hold a baby/toddler while standing.

I've had a couple put both their children on their lap and scoot over so my 4 yr old could sit beside them. He actually did end up falling asleep with his head on her shoulder! Couldn't really be helped since he will fall asleep anywhere!

Probably not on someone's lap, but this last trip my 4yo daughter had sat in a seat at the end of the night, and I was standing because I had my 1yo daughter in a carrier on my back, asleep. A mom with her kid came in, so I told her to sit beside my daughter. Well, my daughter ended up falling asleep, so the other mom had to put her arms around my dd to prevent her from falling. I appreciated the help...
