Interestingly, that Simpsons version of Zorro does apper to be Mexican - then again, it is rife with historical inaccuracies too!

Do you think Disney starts the series in 1850 or in the 1820’s-1840’s.

If the new show is successful, it might be a little juice for Frontierland. Of course, Disney doesn't own Zorro the concept, so they might not want to go all in on him. Still, it'd be a decent addition, even if just a character meet.

I thought they own some of his character rights? Zorro was written in 1919. If Disney is making the new series, didn’t they have to buy the rights?

Apparently the copyright/trademark status is somewhat complicated. They may have had to acquire some rights.

I hope Disney will have Elena in the series as well. She would be a great addition to the Disney princesses.

That's not Zorro...BUT, Disney got the rights to that movie and character in the Fox buy.

Yeah, but if the new series is a hit, he might make a comeback. I think that's a tough sell though - the show will need to be VERY stylish and unique. That's not to say it couldn't happen. I do think he is more likely for Frontierland at DL even when that is the case.

Oh sure. he's clearly somewhat based on Zorro. Honestly, I'm surprised that Disney hasn't capitalized more on the nostalgia for The Princess Bride.

For me, the best Zorro theme song is from the 1990s Family Channel series. I used to run home from school to watch it.
