Would you use a "napping station"?

Good morning all,
We've traveled to WDW 3 times now with our children (1st time for their 1st and 3rd b-days, 2nd time for their 3d and 5th b-days, then randomly a year after that). We love to stay off-site so much that we bought a second home in FL! BUT...every time I've been at the MK with the kids, I've thought "Wouldn't it be cool if there were little pod-like 'stations' you could rent here to nap in?" Imagine a little room with bunks or something where you could lay down for an hour in the afternoon. Not so different from the Baby Care centers at each park--which were awesome with little kids--but with your own little space to nap before heading back into the parks.

Am I crazy? Is it a totally stupid idea?
Thanks!

We say the same thing every time we go. I'd pay $20 to be able to have 2 hrs in a mini room like that.

I think it's a crazy idea. Why would WDW waste valuable space so people could sleep at the parks? Sleeping people do not spend money. I guess they could charge $100 an hour to make it worth their while.

No I wouldn't use them, I'd never pay extra money to sleep somewhere. If I needed a nap I'd head back to the resort.

I'd go back to the resort, too, so I could really get comfortable and rest. No way could we nap knowing we were still in a park. Plus, a room with bunks and other people (strangers) sleeping nearby? Not for me, thanks!

Er, no. You think they'd have a maid come through in between guests? If so, I bet it would be more than $20. And if they didn't, well... ewww. :joker:

That is sort of the issue. The economics of the situation make it not really possible. You'd have to make space - space that wouldn't be used for something else. As was mentioned, the people napping aren't spending money - except on the room to nap. And it would be expensive - the rooms would need to be cleaned between each guest. In an airport which is mainly serving adult business travelers - its $30 an hour. Add in the issues with kids (bed wetting, damage to rooms, the need for additional staffing) and you are probably looking at $40 an hour at a minimum to cover costs and some profit.

Plus there is the liability issue - if any abuse were to happen in those sleeping rooms, Disney would have huge liability and PR issues. If people use them for sex - again, big PR issues - if anyone involved in the sex is under the age of consent - we are back to liability issues - can you imagine what the conventions of teenaged cheerleaders could be like :scared1:

When our kids were little we had favorite nap spots in each park. We would pick secluded quiet benches and park the stroller and take turns hanging out. That always worked well unless we traveled during super hot weather.

Not a fan of nap stations in the park but plenty of people take advantage of quiet areas for a little siesta. Hop over to a monorail resort and go find a quiet nook somewhere. Personally if I need a true honest nap I head back to my room - I wouldn't dare nap in a public space.

LOL I said this just last week on our trip!

We would definitely do use it. Especially this past trip when we picked up a cold while there.

We are also rope drop people and always get there in line by 7:40AM so we have a long wait.

After lunch when it picks up crowd wise would be an awesome time to take a nap without having to leave the park and then continue the day after that.

We always stay off site at a rental house, but have been considering buying a house down there as well. We can't yet as we own two houses in Texas. Our main home is in Spring Texas but we have a waterfront home in the Tiki Island Texas/Galveston area for sale.

Anyone want to buy it??? LOL

It wouldn't take much time to spray down the room with Lysol like product, switch out the sheets and go.

If designed right it would be cleaner than those resort rooms you see Dateline and 20/20 talking about. No real mattresses to absorb all the sweat and other particles that people lose when they sleep on those beds at the resorts.

The article another poster posted about the airports that do this, they are using cushions that can easily be wiped down and disinfected.

We rarely spend money in the parks while there except to eat 1 meal or 2 if we're staying late. Not everyone is spending money every hour they are there. We sure don't. We drink the free water and bring our own snacks.

I don't think it would be a health concern or a liability concern if done the right way. And I trust that if Disney did it, it would be done the right way.

But I doubt they ever do. But it's a neat idea.

I say we'd use it, but more than likely we wouldn't cause after someone else mentioned how hard it would be to sleep while knowing you're in the park, I'm sure that would be the cast with us as well.

For younger kids they can sleep anywhere and do so I wouldn't spend the money on it,

As far as the Hall of Presidents go, that is one my favorites, but then again I'm a history buff who is very patriotic so I can't miss that one :) I felt very good being able to be there on 9/11/13. :)

They already have them. They are called Disney Resorts. They want you to stay on site so you can rest at the Disney hotel/resort.
