Would you take a 3 or 4 month old to Disney ?

Only if you are staying in the hotel with him or her. It's just too unsettling for this small a child, who just wants to eat and sleep, and those carriers get so hot. I did take my seven month old, with my sister along to help babysit. That worked out fine.

I would have to say I wouldnt , but this is an indivual choice. At this age they are so scheduled that it would make a trip hard. But if its your only chance to take an older child then go for it:)

We did Disney after each of my boys were born. By that time I needed a bit of Pixie dust, and they were small enough to put in the sling and be thrilled with the people, lights, and sounds. They were very content. It was so pleasant to go sit and nurse in the baby centers for a break in the day. Our Disney trips were so much easier than any other vacations we did when they were little.

That said, it was not during the scorching summer. We kept them well covered from that Florida sun, and took it easy. Not a time for trying to do it all! Good luck!

I know I will get ugly looks (?) from some of you guys, but having just returned from my first trip to the World with my kids, I say definitely not! I wanted to go to Disney SO BAD for SO LONG with my kids. Just got that chance a few weeks ago and the girls are 7 and 9. I can honestly say I said a silent "thank you" at least five times a day that we hadn't made the trip earlier.

Now, I must add that I am a part-time K teacher so I can be home with my kids, and the wife of a hard-working DH. We don't exactly get to take big vacations often and had to really scrimp for this one. I cannot imagine spending the time and money at such a magical place only to sit in my hotel room and do all the things I do at home anyway. I mean, your little sweetie isn't going to have much fun in the heat of the Florida sun and neither are you with someone stuck to you.

Sorry. I know you'll do what's right for you, and hey - WDW IS MAGIC FOR US ALL, RIGHT??

I would definitely say - Go for it!!! I might be a little hesitant to go in the heat of summer, but it can be done. As long as you know you have to take it slow. My girls were all right over a year old for their first trips, but I wouldn't hesitate to take a baby to Disney! Be sure to visit the Baby Care Centers - nice, quiet, and cool! I would also suggest staying on site - it might be easier - so that if you wanted to go back to the hotel for a rest, you could easily go back and the rest of the family could stay, if they wanted.

Enjoy your trip!!!

We took youngest DD when she was 6 months (she'll be 22 months on return trip). She was just old/stable enough to sit in the stroller part of her 4-in-1, but I still used the carrier for the car. She had a blast just watching everything. And when she was tired, she would fall asleep, and I would recline the stroller.

Having said that, we did hire a sitter for her for a couple of days to have a magical time with my then 3.5 yo DD.

I took my DS was 4 months old. It wasn't our best trip, but it wasn't our worst either. We did spend a lot of time in our room. We were staying in a Villa, so that helped A LOT! We did go in August, and I didn't keep my DS in his carrier. He was in our RATHER large Peg Perego stroller, so he had lots of air. We stayed out of the hot afternoon son, and stayed on his schedule. That's the most important thing to remember.

TODAY My mother and I were talking about my Disney obsession and what caused it. She says it began with my first trip to WDW , I was a whole 4 months old, long ago in 1971. Right after WDW opened.
So hey if she did it long ago before baby care centers and all of the on site resorts ( I think only Cont. was open) I say go for it, just take it slow and have a wonderful trip:bounce:

Our DD was born in Dec. and we took her in March - DS was 2 1/2 at the time. I can't say anything bad about that trip. There are so many attractions/shows that you can do at MK even if you have a little one. For the other rides, we just did the child swap with DS. DD was a good baby which helped and it was pretty easy because at that age they still sleep a lot - at least ours did. We have darling pix of Mickey holding her.

I took DS when he was 4mo. We had a great trip. We went in April, so it wasn't very hot. He napped in the stroller. We were able to take him on most rides. I brought bottled water and powdered formula to the parks.

we'll be taking our new baby in December, it's due late August, so will be 3 or 4 months old. We were scheduled to go this week, but I fell pregnant and can't fly at 30 weeks, and so we were either going to lose our money, or we could reschedule upto the end of the year. We chose to reschedule.

Personally, I am not all that worried - little tiny babys are pretty happy where ever they are. We will be taking a lie flat stroller, so he/she will have room to stretch out, sleep, whatever. It shouldn't be too hot in December. We've been twice before recently, so we don't NEED to see everything, we can just relax and take it easy. We will be there for 2 whole weeks, so we have plenty of time to see and do what we want, without going Commando style.

We have decided to rent an apartment off-site, rather than stay on-site, this will mean we have a full kitchen and laundry and also 2 bedrooms, which will make life much easier.

I have said it on these boards many times, but I think the 6 year old will be harder work, and she's a pretty good girl too.

I took a 5 month old. She's also been at 23 mo and 3yo. I would say if it's a one-time-only trip, I'd wait, but if you'll be going again, go for it and have reasonable expectations of what you'll be able to do.

Me? No way. It's enough dragging my own tired body around the parks, I'd hate to have an infant to haul around. But that's a real personal decision. Lots of people here have done it successfully. Good luck whatever you decide.:D

One thing that a lot of people are not aware of before they get to WDW is that strollers are not allowed in lines or in any of the pavilions at Epcot. Carrying around a baby doesn't sound that hard, but I have seen some parents in line who look pretty uncomfortable holding their baby while they wait in line for 15 or 20 minutes.
That's why some people mentioned baby carriers, or you can also use slings. Just make sure the baby likes them (and you are comfortable) before you go.

DD was 7 months on her first trip, DS1 was 5 months, and DS2 will be 3 months. Obviously, my answer to the question would be yes ;).

We have always had great trips, even when the kids were tiny. I do have to say that the trip with a 5 month old was a little more difficult than the trip with a 7 month old, but that may have had something to do with the fact that when our DS was 5 months we also had to chase his then 3 year old sister around as well ;).

You have to go very slow and take it easy, but you can have a great time in WDW with a small child. Have fun.

Been there, done that. We took our DD in January at the age of 3-1/2 months. We had a great time. She loved being carried around in the snuggli. We stuck to 2 parks, MK & Epcot and mostly just walked around. We went on some rides with her, but she always fell asleep.
It was a nice break from the routine of home.

We just got back last week from taking our now 8 month old to WDW and had another fantastic trip. I would try to not go when it is so hot out though.

I know for us our answer would be no. We have an 8 month old right now and I can tell you that based upon how tired we always were when he was 3 months that it would not have been money well spent to go to WDW at that time. I could just see him screaming his head off at 3 AM with all of us sleeping in one hotel room! Waking up his sister who would have been 2 1/2 at the time! Then you have 2 crying tired kids up! UGHH!! Forget it.. I know if we had to do it we could have, but my wife and I just know that waiting until he is at least 1 would bring that much more fulfillment to our trip. His first trip will be 10/03 at age 13 months with his big sister who will be 3 showing him the way. We took her at age 16 months for her first trip and had a great time.

Good luck with your decision.

In my opinion, I would not go. At 3-4 months babies obviously need more tending to than an older baby with more frequent feedings, diaper changing and the frequent naps. I would expect that you would spend a lot of your trip either in your room or taking several breaks during the day at the parks just tending to baby's needs. Therefor not doing much in the parks.

I would also think that taking a baby that small in the summer months wouldn't be the best idea. With the heat and humidity in Orlando the way it gets, a small baby can not indicate to you if it's over heated or getting dehydrated.

Our first trip to Disneyland with our DD was when she was 1 1/2 yrs old. And even then she was a bit of a handful. She wanted to nap/didn't want to nap, wanted to be in her stroller/didn't want to be in her stroller, snack breaks, diaper changing breaks......it added up to not much time for rides. Which we knew would happen any way. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip, but enjoyed this past trip when she was 4yrs old much better.

My advise would be not to expect to do or see a lot this trip.

We are taking our DS next month when he will be 5 months old. I know we will have to take it slow, but I can't imagine it being too different than it is here at home. I would rather be tired at WDW than here at home. Plus DW and I can switch off with the baby and one deal with him as the other takes DD4 on to do other things. I just want to be there, anything after that will be a bonus.

I say go for it, the pictures will be priceless.
