would you switch from CBR to CS?

We are going in a couple of weeks and have rooms reserved at CBR, where we stayed 10 years ago. I can get rooms at CS, where we haven't stayed, for
about the same rate, maybe a few dollars more. Any thoughts on whether we should switch? We have 2 rooms for 5 adults.

Everyone has their own preferences. I love CBR. I can't think of a reason why you "should" switch. Do you enjoy variety? Are you happier trying new things, or are you more comfortable staying with things you're familiar with. If you like variety, switch to CSR. If not, CBR's your choice.

You'll have a great time either way.

CSR is a large resort that does not share services with other resorts and offers some deluxe amenities because it is a convention resort.
*
CSR has a salon, spa, and a gym that other moderates do not offer.* CSR has full menu room service and offers an internal shuttle system provided by golf carts to assist in getting to and from the main building to the villages.*
*
It is also the only mod to offer suites.
*
CSR is situated around a 15 acre lake and CBR is situated around a 45 acre lake.*
*
CSR has terrific transportation. It does not share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 8 at CBR).* And since CSR is centrally located, you'll have a quick ride to all the parks.
*
And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.
*
CSR is the most central to the 3 parks you mentioned.* See the map below.

CSR has the best pool of the mods and probably the second best on WDW property.* Best mod pool.* It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area.

Review from mousesavers.com!!

Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.
*
The theming is radically different in the three areas of Coronado Springs. You can request a specific area when booking but there is no guarantee you'll get your request.
  • The Spanish-style Casitas at Coronado Springs are very peaceful, with courtyards featuring tiled fountains. Casitas Buildings 1, 3 and 2 (in that order) are the closest to the restaurants and services. Casitas Building 4 contains the salon and health club, if those are important to you.
  • The Cabanas at Coronado Springs have a beachy Caribbean feeling. Cabanas Building 8A is very close to the feature pool, which may be a blessing (convenience) or a curse (noise, light). Cabanas Building 9B is closest to the marina and relatively convenient to the restaurants and services.
  • The Ranchos at Coronado Springs feel quiet and secluded -- some would say isolated -- and feature desert landscaping and pueblo-style architecture. They look closest to the main pool on a map, but in actuality they are separated from the rest of the property by a swamp, so it can be a fairly long walk from these buildings to the pool, and a very long walk to the restaurants.

All resorts have fans and detractors.

Personally I LOVE CBR and really have never enjoyed a stay at CSR (and I have stayed there three times) I will stay at CSR if I have no other choice, but given a choice I perfer CBR.

The rooms are bigger at CBR and it was built before Disney got so "cheap" My standard view room there rarely is a full parking lot view. My standard view at CSR was a parking lot. Plus it's hot enough in Orlando WHY do I want to stay in a resort themed like a desert???

I vote for CSR! That is our favorite resort. The cabanas are similar to what you wold find at CBR. The casitas have beautiful courtyards and fountains and the ranchos have the desert theme. The pool is much better at CSR and so is the transportation. We love the food court options better as well.

CSR would be our choice for the reasons listed above. The main pool area is great and is the transportation.

But you can't go wrong with either one. You are going to have positives and negatives for both resorts. We have stayed at both and we preferred CBR. CSR is actually our least favorite of the moderates. But, we would stay there if it was the last one available. Even with fewer bus stops and no sharing with another resort, the bus service is the same. All the moderates are located about the same from the parks, when you average out all four of the parks.

CSR has the best main pool of the moderates, but POR has the best private pools.

For us, the food court at CSR was the deal breaker. We disliked the food court so much, that we really would only stay at CSR if it was the last one available. But, some people like it. We didn't need/use any of the additional amenities, (gym, spa, suites), that CSR had. Also, we liked having the two bathroom sinks instead of one.

I disagree with one of your points. The transportation at CSR is much quicker and better than CBR. As you can see in the map, no other mod is even in the picture. And obviously 3 less stops is going to make a difference in time. CSR is like 5 mins from all 3 of the parks in the map and 10 mis from MK. :thumbsup2

We love the Pepper Market food much better too. It's not heat lamp food. Most of it is cooked/prepared to order. :thumbsup2

Hey Buzz, sorry for the stupid question, but does the pepper market make tacos?

My DD is a taco LOVER and are picking this resort due to having 2 places to eat. The Pepper Market for fast food and Maya Grill for a nice sit down dinner as we all love steak as well.

We have stayed at all of the moderates, so I am going by experience. CSR is not as close to MK or EPCOT or even MGM as the map makes it look. POR is the closest to MK. CBR is the closest to EPCOT. When you take an average of all four parks, the moderates are pretty even in distance and amount of time it takes to get to the parks. I have used the bus system at all of them.

We didn't have an issue with the quality of food at the food court. It was just fine. Over all, no better or worse than the other moderates. Our issue with the food court was the set up. I didn't like having to pay an added gratuity when I didn't get anything for it. We got our own food, took it to the table, we cleaned up our own table and we had to get our own refills because no one ever came to our table to do it. Also, the food court is right next to the bar, with no barrier. We were treated every night to drunk conventioners with very loud, foul mouths. Not something I wanted my young son exposed to. And, these were not isolated incidents because we ate at our food court every night of our stay.

As I said, it isn't a bad resort. It is a lovely resort and I am sure that they would be happy with it. We would stay here again if all the other moderates were full. We did not dislike the resort. We just liked CBR and POR better.

If you will use the added amenities at CSR, then it would probably move it up on your list. We didn't. So it didn't add to our view of CSR. It will for other people.

The Pepper Market does have tacos. At least they did when we stayed there. And, they were quite good.

Your right, CSR is not close to MK but it is close to the other 3. MGM is out the driveway, over the highway and your there. MGM is very close to CSR as is AK and Epcot. I timed them all during my trip in April 2006 and it was only 5 mins to all 3 and 10 to MK. The time was leaving the last bus stop (bus stop #1).

Can you buy just one or two?

I hope it's a big Fajita platter for $12.95. She'd like these as well. Guess the price wouldn't matter if we get the dining plan but depends on how much the price increases till we go.
