Would you stay on Deck 5 on the Fantasy/Dream????

I understand the humor and point you're trying to make, but when one pays $100 to $250 per person per day for a Disney cruise, it's okay to expect something a little nicer than a broom closet by the engine room. For many, they will only cruise once and a noisy room can be frustrating. On one of our cruises, the engines were louder than normal one night only and we didn't get a good night's sleep. Fortunately, it was just that single night but when you're paying a lot for a nice "holiday", it's okay to want the best available room. You don't want a room that's too small, too noisy or too smelly.

Now, if the trip were free, I'd stay in said room! I'd camp out on a deck chair for a free trip!

THANK YOU!! I am trying my best to learn as much as I can. We have never cruised. EVER. I got this idea last Friday night.......so a week ago basically. So it has literally consumed me all week. My husband is currently deployed to Iraq so I am doing this on my own. I send him emails and he is OKAY WITH EVERYTHING I SAY. LOL He didn't mind the fact that the cruise on the 16th was going to cost us atleast another 1000 plus SOME.... so I really want to make a good decision. :goodvibes

Our first cruise is going to be on the Podcast 3.0 and we are on deck 10. I was willing to go to a higher deck but the rooms on deck 11 & 12 had to be paid for in gold bricks.

After my US Army career, I learned that I have the ability to sleep ANYWHERE. Noise, light, room temp and such just aren't a problem. How much noise could there possibly be from the kid's club during the nighttime? Surely, they close those areas down sooner or later... That or they have a large supply of those Monster drinks on board.

You are so right. My husband has been on subs and naval ships so he doesn't care where we are on the ship.

Actually, it's usually my DD8 that complains about the noise emanating from within our room when we travel. She claims that I snore but I've never heard it.

So you are saying stay away from deck 5 and 6?

There have been some horror stories about the rooms on Deck 5 aft above Evolution. I don't think you've posted about those rooms. The ones on Deck 5 forward should be fine.

Skyline and Evolution stay open until 2 am each night from what I read in the Navigators. Personally, I'm asleep by 11:00 pm on the cruises as I like to be up on deck or out on the verandah to watch the sun rise!

Don't worry about all of the questions. My DW joked with me recently that she should get a "paying" job so that we could cruise more often! We have been on 5 cruises since 2005 and are hooked. We never thought we could afford to go on a cruise, but with careful planning, we've been okay. Our trip of a lifetime was a 15-night Panama Canal cruise on Disney. In 2012, we have two cruises booked including the Christmas cruise which will be the most expensive per-day cruise we've ever booked! :scared1:

I have a plaque in my office that reads: "The most important thing is Family Walt Disney". These vacations really bring our family together! Much more important to us than a new car or a new bedroom set!

On our first cruise, we got assigned deck 5. We loved it because it had all the kids club and the movie theater. Plus, it was open to the atrium. Also, it was just a flight up from deck 4 outside jogging path and those nice loungers.
We loved it so much that on our next cruise (dec 2013), we requested deck 5. Having the oversized verandah makes it that much better. I say book deck 5.

One other thing, I myelf do not like the decks with just loooonnnnng hallways full of stateroom doors. I would hate to walk those hallways over and over again. But that is just me.

One other last thing...
Yes, the decks above can look down at us, but we can choose to be under the private part or move out into the open for those above us to be envious of our big decks (I almost spelt that wrong :rotfl2: )
