It has been many years since we ate there and we didn't care for it. I'm thinking of giving it another shot since I believe that you might hit a restaurant on a bad day.

What do you think? Which menu items are pretty good? I already read that the playing is toned down which is fine with us.

Went once, Dec 2013, and LOVED it. I enjoyed the meatloaf while others in my group raved about the fried chicken. My DS really liked his pot pie and asks to go back every trip since then (but we haven't made it back). They have yummy milkshakes too.

It's one of our regular ADRs. I enjoy the fried chicken and DH gets the sampler dish and a milk shake. We've pretty much always had good food and service.

We have to go every time, too. It's a must for DH and DD#1. The food isn't my favorite, but my family loves the wait staff and honestly, my kids have better manners there than anywhere else. :goodvibes

The crab cake is pretty good. The fried chicken and pot roast were ok. 50's PTC is not a restaurant we're in a rush to go to again.

We love it! There was a time where we skipped it awhile, didnt think it was as good as years back, then returned and so glad we did. Fried Chicken, Pot Roast, Meatloaf(I never order meatloaf any where else, ever, but this is very good), the sandwiches are tasty, onion rings, wedge salad, etc. In other words, cant go wrong an much of anything there! But save room for a PB&J milkshake:tongue:

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Beer Battered Onion Rings
. . . entree:.. 3-Piece Fried Chicken
. . . dessert:. Traditional Warm Apple Crisp Ala Mode
.
NOTE: The atmosphere is the main reason to patronize this eatery. And, just
like eating at Grandma's, the table service can be spotty, based upon waiter's
attitude. As for food, the pork should have stayed on the farm wallowing in the
mud, and the fish left at the bottom of the sea; mashed potatoes were average;
onion rings fabulous. The 3-piece fried chicken was surprisingly good and could
easily demand a return visit. Prior to meal, the Tune In Lounge bar is like walking
into a 50's hotel bar; poor wine list but great mixed drinks. Well worth stopping
for a pre-meal cocktail. We felt the place was overpriced with just average
food quality. However, the P&J Milkshake is NOT to be missed. I had the Blue
Plate Special, a fish dish that changes seasonally. Mine was Mahi Mahi and was
far less tasty than I have had elsewhere; was also overcooked and "spongy".
I love Mahi Mahi, especially blackened, thus have a basis for comparison. The
proteins (meat and fish) are below average, I have found the veggies at 50's
to be well prepared and really quite good.

We'll be back for our 3rd meal there in 29 days...it is a favorite. Fried chicken was very good along with the meatloaf, pot roast and stuffed pork chop. Mac & Cheese was a big hit with the kids.

The PB&J milkshake is great use of a snack credit (at least it was in March, 2013 as recommended by our server -- "Uncle Dave"). That may have changed as DP policies change with the seasons and your server's underwear.

It's a decent value OOP as the most expensive entree is in the low $20's. Kids meals are $9. If you haven't been in a while, maybe you should give it another shot. Good luck and enjoy!

I'm one of the few who have never liked it, I've always thought the food was just o.k. and don't like the playing with the customers. We've been a number of times though because DS loved it when he was a kid, he would do things just to get yelled at. As an adult he doesn't really like the playing any more but he is a big eater and the portion sizes are pretty big. Which is one of the problems for me, I'm not a big eater, I don't like heavy food or fried food so there isn't much there I can order. If we can't get anything else we will eat there, we don't make ADRs in advance usually just go to GS at the park we are at in the morning and see what is open. The bar, now is another thing. We love it. it can get very crowded but the bartenders have always been excellent.

As always, the reviews sound mixed. We'll probably go because DHS is a problem when it comes to food and I'd like to give this place another shot.

Besides that milk shake sounds intriguing. :)

We went once and that was it. Not a fan of the whole role playing with the customers.
The food was okay, nothing spectacular compared to other Table Services out there.
I recommend everyone to go at least once though. The inside really brings you to a feel of the 50's-60's time.

I think everyone should try it once for the shtick. The food was just okay to me, but the milkshakes were good.

This is pretty much how I feel. It's fun but the food is only ok. If you're a vegetarian there aren't many choices. The milkshakes are great though.

We ate there a couple years ago and thought the food was really good. My DH didn't really care for the antics, but the servers are really good about reading the customer as to whether they want to play along.
