We are trying to decide between Baylake Tower MK view and Poly MK view. We have never been to either one. Which one would you prefer to stay in? Thanks for your help!

I would pick Bay Lake Tower, but both would be fantastic!

I just like the Contemporary more, and I think the rooms are cooler than the Poly's rooms. The Poly seems dated to me, and not in a fun way. We would want a king sized bed, too, and I don't think you can get those at the Poly.

I just love Polynesian, I love the Hawiian feel to it! And the rooms are pretty big, and the view is amazing too. I had a room facing the castle, and we could see the fireworks from our room. :) Although, I like Polynesian, Bay Lake Tower would also be a great choice!

What kind of room are you looking for? A regular room at Poly and a studio at BLT?

The studio at BLT will be a lot smaller than the regular room at Poly. At least it will feel a whole lot smaller.

BLT is really great. The rooms are beautiful and the pool is perfect for little ones.

Poly is romantic and has great restaurants. But, that's a monorail ride away from BLT.

The view is fantastic from BLT. :thumbsup2

I second that. Other than the BLT studio being a little small if you could get a 1 or even 2 bedroom that would be heaven. The walk from MK to BLT is SOOOOOOOOOO awesome! We've stayed at both, multiple times. Between those 2 though I'd do BLT every time for that walk and OMG, the view! OMG!

If it's a one bed , go for BLT. If a studio then I would go for a bigger room at the Poly. You can't really go wrong with either though. Poly pool can get busy but I have not found the pool at BLT to get busy at all.

My choice would be the Poly. We've never stayed at BLT as the theme/decor has no appeal to us and we have no desire to stay in villa, but we love everything about the Poly. The tropical atmosphere is relaxing and it's great walking around at night under the lit tiki torches. Good luck deciding, although I'm sure you'll have a great trip no matter which resort you choose :wizard:.

I was looking at a regular room at both with a MK view not a studio. We are thinking of doing a split stay and are unsure which place we would prefer more. We haven't been to either so didn't know how the view would be at each resort. Sounds like BLT would be a better pick for us! Thanks for you input!

Studios are the base-level rooms at BLT (nothing called a "standard" room there). They are about 300 sq ft in size. The standard rooms at the Poly are a bit over 400 sq ft.

Hope this helps.

As the PP said, a "regular room" or what you might think of as a "standard" at BLT is a studio like at the Poly except its a bit smaller and the studio at BLT has one queen bed w/ a sofa sleeper. the other options at BLT are a 1 and 2 bedroom. i'll see if I can get layout diagrams to show you. The 1 bedroom is actually the studio w/ a livingroom and full kitchen attached. The 2 bedroom ahs 2 arrangements depending on if you want or get a "lock-off" or a dedicated. They both have that full kitchen and living room but the master bedroom has a king and a hot tub. The otehr in the lock-off is the studio from before or in the dedicated, has 2 queens.

Bay Lake Tower because over there you will have a full view of the whole Magic Kingdom.

At the Polynesian you only get a view of Cinderella's Castle and in my opinion that's not what I would call a view of the Magic Kingdom.

Poly. It does look dated but that's what I like about it, think Brady Bunch when they go to Hawaii. :cloud9:

BLT hold little appeal to me aside from location.

Both are homeruns, but we spent more time in our BLT room than any other just because it felt like we were always in the MK to a degree. And the walk to and from MK was so convenient.

Wow thanks for the photo! This room looks amazing!!! I didn't realize these rooms were studio type. I just worry we would be cramped with 2 children, luggage and a double stroller. Thanks again!

Thank you! I didn't realize the rooms were not your "standard" room. My husband wants to stay at the Poly while I want to be at BLT :goodvibes

I'm a BLT lover but IMO, I think you would definitely feel cramped. Everyone has differnt tolerances for "togetherness" ;) but unless I HAVE to be that close, I don't want to be. I can love my family from a few feet away. :goodvibes Until I actually stayed in a BLT studio, I wouldn't have said that, but I would have felt us all on top of each other if we had had our kids in the room.
I'd really encourage people not to diss it so much unless they've experienced it. MY impression of it was from the outside was that it looked like a senior high rise and my hubby, even after seeing the model, wasn't keen on it. But then I just MADE them stay there for one night (I'm a mean mommy! ;) ) in a 2 bedroom and they were ALL hooked!

Here's a floor plan map of BLT. The kitchen layout is a we bit different than their floor plan but it's not across from the bathroom door as it used to be. There isn't much counter space at all.

We have stayed in studios with our family of four at SSR and OKW and did fine (at OKW in particular since it has two beds). When we took the tour of a BLT studio dh and I both agree we could never make that work for our family of four. It is very small, smaller than a moderate and one of the things I didn't like about it was that the mini kitchen was bascially in the bathroom.

BLT for sure has awesome views and a pool that looks amazing. But a studio there for a family of four would be logistical no go for me personally. I do think the resort itself looks amazing and I actually like the exterior and think it fits in great with the CR. The walkway to MK is so nice and reminds me of staying at the Disneyland Hotel in Disneyland due to the convenience. Being close to Chef Mickey's and the Contempo Cafe are also so nice. I just wish they had designed those studios a bit better!

Poly rooms are spacious beyond belief and I do think the theming at the Poly is very fun. It also has great dining and being able to walk to the TTC is nice for Epcot days since it omits the monorail transfer. So it has some real plusses too besides the room.

You have to decide if that view is worth tripping over your stuff and your kids and you know, when I see that picture posted above, I think it might just be worth it! But then again, when the bed is made out, you can barely walk through.

Now if you can swing the one bedroom, then that makes BLT the no brainer in my book!

If you do go with BLT, check out some of the threads on the DVC Planning board from other families who have stayed in them. I am sure they have some good tips. I had a friend who stayed in a studio last year and they LOVED that resort but hated that darn room! They are ponying up for the one bedroom this year because they want to go back but know they need the extra space.

Good luck!

I think the way it used to be that might have been the case (IIR the model plan we toured), it's not now though. They are very separate. THANKFULLY! EWWW!

That is good news. Its not like it was next to the toilet but given that I already hav to share a bathroom sink with my teenagers, I don't want my microwave to be sharing it too! The distance my son can spread toothpaste with his electric toothpaste is kind of not mini kitchen worthy!

I really hope to stay there someday, its my dream to lay in bed and watch the castle change colors. :cloud9:

YOURS TOO????? :lmao: I feel your pain. :scared1:

It's way bigger than it was too (the kitchen I mean). I liked it. :thumbsup2
