Would you rather stay at a mid to upper level Marriott off-site, or a Value?

Can you share your thoughts on a very friendly debate I'm having with a family member? Would you rather stay at an off-property Marriott of higher quality than a Disney Value resort, or at a Value?

Does length of stay make a difference? One night vs. 10 nights? This is all hypothetical, so let's assume cost difference is negligible.

Thanks!

If we had to stay off site... We'd stay home...no debate...want to be immersed in the Disney magic and we only use Disney transportation...case closed , and I don't care how much extra room, how cheap you can stay ... We're staying on property!!

There are lots of nice resorts in Orlando cheaper or close to the same price as a value resort. I would stay offsite. I don't see myself ever staying at a value resort.

We tried the Marriott near DTD once and my dh said never again. Although he won't go back to values now either. Mod or up. We would rather stay for a short trip and be happy vs a long trip and not.

Value... A Marriott is just a typical Corporate hotel room, the Value is Disney themed. Also you may get free dining, DME, etc

For the same cost you can rent a large condo at Bahama Bay.

I was kinda thinking about this as prices rise and discounts dwindle. Pretty sure if a Deluxe was priced out of our range or unavailable we would stay offsite. We would just pick one that was pretty close with shuttle service.

I suspect most people here will answer they would stay at the value. Just because it's WDW and its onsite.

Based on the choices you provided, it could go either way for DW and I. The number of nights would be the determining factor. If it was 2 nights or less, we would stay onsite at a Value. We don't spend much time in the room, so it would suite our needs.

If longer than 2 nights, then I would choose the higher scale Marriott offsite. Since DW and I usually go for long periods of time, we own a timeshare offsite that we stay in.

I'd pick off site over a value. I'm probably going to sound like a snob, but I won't stay at a value, we don't like the double beds.

OFF SITE!

Bigger rooms, interior corridors, rewards for staying, lower cost, bigger beds, working fridges (LOL!), some with free breakfast ..
Sorry but once you get past "cute" you realize that Disney hotels fail to measure up to their price points in EVERY way!

Of course on this board you will get "stay at Disney no matter what" SO if you are looking for "arguments" for "Disney" you will find them :)

And once you add in "free dining" you are going to discover that the offsite with a discount is generally cheaper and exposes you to food that costs less (and is often much better) You don't get "free dining" with a discounted hotel rate so....

Off site. I'd never stay onsite value again. Hated the noise, crowds, and tiny average rooms.

On site with Disney. No question. I'd go back to an All-Star over a 5 star something else anyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

I'd rather stay home than stay offsite. However, if I had to stay at a value, I'd also rather stay home. If I can't afford to stay at at least a moderate, I'll wait until I can.

We would stay offsite. In fact, unless Fast Pass+ proves to be a worthwhile additional incentive once fully implemented, we are unlikely to ever stay on-site again. We don't use ME or Disney transportation in general, dislike the dining plan, and rarely use Extra Magic Hours. So no real benefit to being onsite for us.

That being said, if we were to stay onsite again, it would be at a value. I've stayed at all levels and, for the way we travel, the premium we paid for deluxe wasn't worth it. I actually preferred the close to the room parking and big food court for quick and easy breakfast to the bigger room and added deluxe amenities. And our rooms at both AoA and Pop were comfortable, clean, quiet, and adorable. They were small but we are only two people and we spend all day at the parks anyway.

I'm a timeshare person, so I prefer to stay in offsite 2BR villas for roughly the cost of a value (or less). Love the extra space.

If it's just a hotel room for a hotel room, that's a tough call...

Marriott

I'd take the off-site high end Marriot over an on-site Value. I survived 1 night in a value resort with my then brand new 2-year-old before I inquired about upgrading and subsequently moved to CSR. I felt utterly cramped and we aren't even people who spend who spend much time in the room.

Per the time question it does make a difference. One night before checking into akv then I could survive a night. A week long vacation I like comfort, space and cooking facilities. I hate eating out every meal. I just feel yucky even if I am careful about the quality of food.

I'm staying at the Renaissance across from sea world again this weekend, we were there last weekend. They have great rates right now, a food credit, and I get free parking with my hybrid. Wonderful pool areas for little kids (like the Nick Hotel) and adults. It is my choice over any value resort now. We like to play in the arcades but not stay in the paper thin walled rooms with tiny beds. It's also cheaper than a value resort now. And it has a Starbucks in the lobby, if you like that sort of thing.

We stayed in Marriott village last month and I wasn't impressed so we won't go back there.

However, if I were staying for a longer period of time, if I were a newbie to disney World, or if this was my only trip for 5 years or so i would stay onsite, no matter what hotel level just for the immersiveness. I go several times a month so I get a dose of pixie dust and go home. Where I sleep doesn't matter, I drive so I know the best ways to go, and it's easy for me.

I would chose a value over on site. Believe me, I can appreciate a nice hotel, but for us, a Disney vacation is so wonderful for the ability to be fully immersed. For us, that means on site. We have stayed at the values and had great stays.

I remember being a kid and we would always be off site for our Disney trips (though the only options were the Poly, CR and GF) and I remember being so jealous of people getting to "stay at Disney". I know I should just be grateful that we could take those trips...and I am...but as soon as I was an adult booking my own trips, it was onsite or nothing.
