Inspired by another thread.

We would if they were staying over, just looks nicer, set aside with some nice clean towels.

We don't use liquid soap in the bathrooms, so thats a non issue.

I use liquid antibac soap, so it's not an issue for me, but if I did use bar soap, I'd put out a new one for guests. I agree--it just looks nicer.

We use the foaming Anti-Bacterial B&BW soap in all the bathrooms, but if we used bars I would definitely put out a new one for a guest

No, I wouldn't, but I would definitely get one out/run to the store if asked. It's not like I don't go to the store everyday, anyway! I usually have extra razors and toothbrushes if asked, too. No one has ever asked, though! I wouldn't just leave them out anyway- I wouldn't want my kids to get into that stuff, especially razors.

I would make sure the liquid soap dispenser was full, and would set out a new bar of soap with their guest towels. (Which I keep in a drawer in the guest room) I also have a basket filled with hotel sized toiletries that I've collected that I put out. Fresh flowers and a small bowl of fruit and cookies complete the preparations. (It goes without saying that the beds are freshly made and the room aired prior to their arrival.)

I PAMPER my guests. ;)

We use liquid body wash and handsoaps. Reusing someone else's bar soap is just an icky and unsanitary idea to me... :scared:

And the agents used to harden soap leave a drying film on your skin and cause that nasty soap scum that's so hard to clean off the tub and the glass shower doors.

And I do what Froglady described- put out a small basket of hotel or travel sized toiletries (shampoos, lotions, extra toothbrushes and toothpaste, etc.) for guests, and freshen their room with flowers and anything else that might make their stay more special and comfortable.

NOPE! I have regular guests that are close friends and family and they use the same towels and soap that the rest of us do! (Of course they DO have a clean towel!) :lmao:

Yes, I fill up the liquid soap for the sinks and put a new bar of soap (still in its box) and some towels out.

I keep the nice towels in the bathroom that guests use. I also stock that medicine cabinet with new toothbrushes, razors, toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, contact lens solution, shampoo, conditioner etc. All our bathrooms have pump soap dispensers.

The kids have alot of short notice guests and they haven't always packed well.

I put out fresh towels, fresh sheets and a new bar of soap. I don't like touching a bar of soap that has been used by other people, so I think my guests would feel the same way.

I really like the idea of making a little basket with toothbrushes, razors, toothpaste, and things like that. I think I'll make one up to have ready for the next time people visit. Great idea!

OMG!!! I pity the thought of anyone using bar soap after my son has used it a few times!!!!

The only place you will find bar soap in my home is in my shower. I have to have my Dove hypoallergenic soap to bathe with.

Most bar soap is waxy, sticky, germy, and leaves residue on your skin.
Just say 'no'!

PS: If I do have overnight guests who might wish to have a bar of soap in the bath, they will get a brand new bar, still wrapped, along with some fresh towels, and other amenities.

For overnight guests I always have new bar soap for the bath/shower, travel sized toothpaste, travel sized shampoo and fresh towels. We have a guest room w/private bath so it is like my little hotel room (it is even Disney themed). I do keep liquid soap by the sink also. I also have extra toiletries in case people need something.

In our powder room that guests use we have liquid pump soap.

Absolutely NOT...that would just encourage them to 1. stay longer or 2. visit again. :rotfl: All kidding aside, we use body wash and all the "I forgot the..." amenaties in there. I have a BJ's membership so stocking up on toothbrushes, razors, etc is easy.

Honestly, no, I think that's wasteful. It's SOAP! I mean, if I used bar soap in my guest bathroom, and I had a party, each person wouldn't get their own goodie bag of soap anyway, they'd all use the same one.

Now...if a guest specifically asked if they could use a new bar of soap, I'd give them one. But I wouldn't just put it out to begin with.

Kimya

ETA: Ok, I just assumed the OP meant for the sink. If it were for the shower, yes, I would. I would keep mini ones on hand so that a full bar wouldn't go to waste.

See that is the thing.. when my family comes for the holidays we have 5-6 families sharing four bathrooms. Do I have to have a clean bar of soap for each individual family lined up on the counter?

Never been an issue with us, and boy am I glad! :)

Hand washing soap by the sinks is liquid or foaming so no I would not be putting fresh stuff out.

Now if they were overnight guests if they hadn't brought their own then they would get a brand new bar of soap or they could sue the body wash that we use (but not our scrunchies)

I don't really get overnight guests except for DD's boyfriend occasionally and he brings his own stuff with him.

I supply clean towels and wash clothes of course. I do not have special "guest towels" though.

Ok Froglady when can I come visit you. Your house sounds better than any hotel I have stayed at.

Bar soap to wash hands grosses me out. We only use liquid for washing hands.

In the guest shower, I have a basket of items including small wrapped bar soap (if they use it, it gets tossed when they leave), mouthwash, razor, brush, toothpaste and toothbrush, lotion, floss, etc etc. I also have a large men's shower gel and women's shower gel in the shower along with some shampoo and conditioner.

Remember, soap is self-cleaning.
