Would you like to see the DVC logo...

Heres the old red logo:

I've always preferred the original 3-mountain version. In the new version, not only did they remove a mountain, but they took out a lot of the color. The palm trees no longer have any bark, and the leaves are no longer shaded. Likewise the mountain shading is gone, as is the shading on the Mickey figure.

In my opinion the old 3-mountain logo had definition, color and clarity. The new one is more bland, and the wording on the outside of the oval has gotten more bold which also diminishes from the oval logo itself.

Werner's side by side comparison makes it easy to see all the subtle, but detracting, differences they made.

My guess is they wanted to simplify the color schemes and reduce the detail to make it easier (this means cheaper) to put the logo on printed materials, merchandise, etc.

Just imho.

.... Be carefull with the color combos or you may need to add tassels to them twin peaks.

How about a return to three mountains with the third one standing straighter instead of looking drunk and in the current color scheme? We do not think the current colors look feminine.

The red mountains seem too garrish for us, but we joined when the two purple mountains were in use, so are used to that.

We agree--we would like to see more merchandise with the logo and in more sizes!

Here's another vote for returning our missing mountain. A few years ago, our guide told us the mountain change was made to save money. For example, he said, think of the amount of thread it takes to sew one more mountain on each shirt or the extra paint for one more mountain on each sign. Personally, I think this is a bunch of hogwash!! When I took an art class in college, we were taught that using an odd number of things in an arrangement makes it more pleasing to the eye--thus three mountains is better than two. SO--- Give back our mountain!!

At a Member Update many moons ago when the missing mountain came up as one of the trivia questions, the explanation given was that it was a graphic design decision. My guess is that the simpler version reproduces better in b&w than the older more intricate logo.

No truth to the rumor that the mountain was used as landfill for the swampy area where BWV was built. ;)

I'm sure any possible savings in printing or paint to remove the third mountain were more than eaten up by the need to RE-PRINT and RE-PAINT everything in sight with the new logo. Not to mention the hours of meetings and focus groups to determine the shape and colors of the newly amputated mountain range, and the outside consultants no doubt hired to facilitate the transition.

Being a graphic artist by trade, I personally hope they change the logo frequently! More work for the likes of me! ;)

As for Routeman Dan's color-makeover efforts, I was kinda liking the brown ones, although maybe with a cherry on top and a spoon stuck in the side. I wonder if there's any ice cream left in the fridge?

I like the original 3 mountain one and like the purple coloring. I don't think it iis too feminine.

Having 3 DD's I am partial to purples and pinks............

PamOKW............LOL!! The third mountain used as landfill for BWV!! I love it!!!

What about the rumor that it was used to bury the people who die of boredom at OKW????????:D :D :D ;)
