Would YOU cancel CP?

My girls are 5 and 8 and this will be their first visit.

We have 4 character meals planned. That's a lot, huh?

Tusker House (10:30)
Akershus (dinner)
Crystal Palace (pre RD)
1900 Park Fare (dinner)

The only ADR I'm not sold on is CP and the only reason we plan on doing it is to get into the park pre RD. Additionally, we would be paying OOP for it bc we are over our TS credits for DDP.

It seems logical to cancel this ADR, right? So tell me ... why should we NOT cancel?

I would probably cancel it unless someone in your family really wants to meet the Pooh characters. We really enjoyed it the year our kids were 1 and 3. Food was decent and kids loved seeing those characters. Then we went back the next trip when they were older and wondered why we had done it again since none of the family was really into those characters. And that trip, the meal felt much crazier and rushed.

I'm dying for a CP pre park open breakfast so YES cancel!!!

Seriously though, 4 is a lot....the buffets aren't that great. If you don't care about Pooh, dump it

haha deebs! :rotfl2:

The trip is a Christmas present but we're taking the trip in late Jan/early Feb so I will have time to get the girls' opinions. *I* like Pooh but not so sure either of the girls really cares.

Now, if Tink or Merida were there?? We would probably never leave. :D

Yes. It definitely isn't worth going to just for an early entry into park. We didn't enjoy CP at all.

Are kids are not huge pooh fans, but a pre-park opening TS is an amazing event IMO....I would do it just for these facts alone. Walking down an empty main street checking out all the windows, getting a picture in front of the castle with NO ONE in the back ground and have an amazing pic from our table as we had a castle view.... Plus we were done eating right at 9 and had a jump start on everyone to hit fantasy land!

That all being said, this is coming from someone who is 6 character meals during our 9 day stay!

We loved seeing all of the Pooh characters...especially Tigger - so much fun but being in the park early is the best part of all. As the PP said - standing on Main street while it is empty is a wonderful feeling. Don't cancel! Characters meals are great. Have fun.

CP is our favorite breakfast buffet! Its our must do every trip! Those Pooh ears are to die for!!!!!! We arent really that into pooh (hes cute but I wouldnt go there just to see him!) it's the food! It's IMHO the best breakfast buffet in Disney!

I love the Crystal Palace! In fact, I have an ADR there next month for me, my twenty-something nephew, and one of his friends.:goodvibes

I think it is the best character breakfast on property. Loved the puffed french toast and the hash.

The last time we went we did all the character dining options lol, but crystal palace is 1 on our must do every disney trip list, lol. Both my boys are HUGE tigger fans. Plus we try to get ADRs before park opens. It's awesome walking down main street without a mob of people. And the photographers are out too so we got a family pic in front of the castle without a mob of people with it really awesome.

I can't say anything about the food, since we've never been. I cancelled my ADR based on characters alone. My 4yo isn't a huge Winnie the Pooh fan (although Tigger is my all time fave - if it were for me, I would have kept it lol). But we are doing character meals for my son so I chose other Mickey and friends meals.

Four is not a lot of character meals to me. Lol. That being said I am probably going to cancel a CP dinner for the same reasons. Kids not that into the characters and we're over our TS credits on the dining plan.

I don't think you have too many. However if you want to eliminate one, I would keep the CP just because of the early time - IMO the early entry into MK, pictures and enjoying Main Street with limited people is worth it alone (unless of course it's on an EMH day). We ate there last year because I couldn't get DD an early enough BBB appt. (we scheduled the trip 2 weeks before we left) and while we weren't real impressed, I said after she outgrows BBB and we can't get our early entry, I will consider eating there just to get in the park early.

I don't think 4 is a lot of character meals, especially since not all 4 are breakfast. We did pre-rope drop CP our last trip just because we hadn't eaten there before and I wanted to try the breakfast lasagna. None of the kids are Pooh fans, however they did get excited when Eeyore and Tigger came around. The food was OK, IMHO.

So in hindsight, I'd drop the reservation unless an uncrowded picture on Main Street is worth $100 minimum to me.

I am taking my 2 little princesses (2 and 4) and we are doing H&V lunch, CRT, Akershus, 1900 Park Fare breakfast, and CP. They will love it!

Edit to add: My grandkids are more Mickey oriented, and less Pooh, but we are doing a girls day where we chase princesses all day while the guys do Harry Potter. We'll cap it off with a dinner at the Crystal Palace.

I don't think 4 is a lot. You're kids are the perfect ages and it's a first time trip.

I think for our first one site trip we may have done 5 character meals.

Another way to get pre park opening is BBB. We've done that before.

So much to think about and you all have given lots of opinions. THANK YOU!

I appreciate everyone on the DIS so much!

We're skipping CP on our next visit. My girls are 8 & 4 and neither of them really care about Pooh and friends. We did CP 2 years ago and yes, the food is good, and yes, it is nice to get there early. But I don't think it's anything exceptional worth paying so much money for breakfast out of pocket. Now if your kids were obsessed with Pooh, I might have a different answer.

Eek we have 5 scheduled!! I'm hoping that's not over-doing it, but at least they are all on different days... 2 are breakfast, 2 are dinners and one lunch. We have a soft spot for Pooh and friends, so I have CP on my list for sure, but now I wish I had made it for pre-RD!!
