Would you buy a park pass for the last day??

I'm debating on if we should buy park tickets for the last day of our trip? Our flight doesn't leave until 3:45, but I know we will have to be ready to leave a couple hours prior to that. The tickets aren't that expensive for an additional day and was wondering if I should get them for only a few hours at a park. TIA

Are you taking the Magical Express back to the airport? Our flight left MCO at 3:30pm and we had to be in front of the resort waiting for the Magical Express a little after noon. So, assuming you are completely packed and check your bags at the resort airline desk in the morning before you go to the park (I can't remember what time the airline desk opens though?) You would have 2 hours in the park before you should head back if you went at rope drop (I'd leave the park at 11 if you are taking Disney buses back to the resort).
You might have an additional hour if you are not using Magical Express or Disney buses, so ultimately, is 2-3 hours worth what the extra cost is? I think the answer would be different for every family. I know we did not do a park that last morning and I still felt rushed (and I packed us up the night before, but we did do DTD that morning which I didn't realize no store even opens until 10am)

With a flight leaving 3:45, I wouldn't bother if you are taking the Magical Express. You just wouldn't have that much time to enjoy the park before having to head back to get the DME.

I think you'd be better off planning to have a leisurely morning, maybe making a late breakfast ADR.

We are planning to be at the parks on our last day, but our flight doesn't leave until 8:00pm so we wouldn't have to be back at the resort until 5:00pm.

Our flight left Orlando in April at 3:45pm. I typically don't visit a park the last day, but I did for this trip. We were staying at Boardwalk Inn and on our last morning Hollywood Studios had EMH so we could get in by 8am. With FF+ we were able to reserve Toy Story Mania, Star Tours, and Tower of Terror all before 12noon. On that morning we did Rock an Rollercoaster at rope drop and also saw the first showing of the Beauty and Beast show (which we had missed earlier in the week). We left the park at 12noon for our 12:45pm Magical Express pickup at Boardwalk.

I wasn't crazy about our late afternoon flight, but that was our only option. I was worried that we would just hang around waiting for time to pass if we didn't go to a park. I will say it was pretty hectic to finish breakfast, final packing, dropping off luggage to bell services, and getting to rope drop by 7:45am! But I am very glad we were able to spend our last morning at Hollywood Studios.

NOTE: One thing that always worried me in the past was being dependent on Disney transportation (bus or monorail) to get back to the hotel in time for Magical Express. What if the bus was delayed? Or the Monorail stopped for some reason? The reason I decided to buy tickets for the last morning is that I knew we could walk back to Boardwalk from Hollywood Studios, rather than depending on the bus transportation. It's just one of the things I worry about.

I was considering this too. DHS has AM EMH on our departure day and our flight is at 4:35 so probably a 1:30 departure (1:15 line-.up). But I just don't want to be rushed on either end. Not getting the bags checked at resort check-in that morning or leaving the park at noon to get back.

In our case, what I will in all likelihood do though is add a day earlier. I had installed a break day a couple of days before we leave to come home. We have 7 days not including our departure day and 6 day tickets right now. Depending on how the first couple of days go, I'll upgrade and use that day.

We'll probably do the arcade on departure day until it is time to go. We did that in 2012 and it worked well. After we got up and dressed, had breakfast in the food court and I checked the bags, we had just enough time to use all of the tokens I bought before it was time to lineup.

Probably I would be too nervous.

but if I did, I would check my bags at the resort and send my bags on the ME and then take a cab to the airport.

But mostly, I fear I would be too nervous about timing. This is the same reason I get nervous during shore excursions on cruises, I'm always watching the clock and too nervous to truly enjoy the day.

We've done both.

Either way, I pack up the night before, and we check out first thing in the morning, so we can head out by 9 or so. We leave our bags at the resort (bell services will hold them in a room by the front doors of the resort), and then head out for a few more hours of Disney.

When we purchase the additional park ticket day, we take a vote and go have a counter-service meal and do a few rides and take some last minute pictures at one of the parks. Without the extra park day, we head to DTD to eat brunch and do some souvenir shopping. We just have to return to the front of the resort for Magic Express to pick us up at the appropriate time - since the resort holds our bags there for us.

I always want to do the extra few hours in the parks, because I never know if it will be one year or four years before we come back! :)

Not usually, unless we have a very late flight. This trip we're renting a pool cabana for the last day so we have a place for the odds and ends and to rest after we've checked out - we'll have a relaxing morning and mid day at the pool.

Thanks guys!!! I just hate to waste that last little bit of Disney time. Even if we just get to spend a couple of hours, I think it would be worth it to us.

We always do!!!

We get an evening flight, so those first few hours of the day are our last chance to cram in some Disney magic for a year or two or three.

We got tickets for the last morning and spent about 3.5 hours in HS. Then we returned to our resort for a CS meal and waited for ME (I figured if we got delayed getting back to the resort we could grab-and-go or eat at the airport). I did the math and it was easily cheaper to buy the 8th day and then eat CS than to do a TS character meal!

I know from other vacations that if I have a late flight and no plans I am bored and grumpy that last day because I am doing nothing and have to face going home! I'd rather ride RNRC!!

The benefit of multiple days is indeed that adding another day is not even close to the same cost as day one or two. So if you can squeeze in half a day, especially at a park with morning EMH and near your resort (if all the stars align!), then definitely worth considering. But also know that you can wait to make that decision until near the end of that trip when you will have a better feel for whether there are still things you really want to do (or do again).

On the flip side, if we know we're in that position of needing to leave by noon or early afternoon, we tend to defer any major resort pool time or Downtown Disney exploring to that last morning and just hit the parks pretty hard on the other days. Nice to have a few hours just to chill out by the pool at a time when we otherwise feel like we need to be in a park to be getting our money's worth. Other options might be water park, mini-golf, bowling at Splitsville, renting a boat on Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon, or exploring resorts -- i.e., activities that don't have to take a long time but you're not prioritizing during the main part of your trip. My wife is actually looking at letting our kids take an archery lesson at Ft. Wilderness this summer, which is something I didn't even know existed. In short, plenty of cool things to do -- some "free," some not -- outside of the parks.

We would if we were driving a rental car. If we were taking the ME, probably not. We would most likely hang at the resort and swim or spend a few hours at DTD before being picked up.

It's really up to you and if you think you have time. We normally do not get up for RD not he last day so we are rested and then head to the parks around 9:30/10. If taking ME, I think you need to be at the bus stop by 1:30ish to catch the bus. The cost isn't what would concern me. It would be our ability to assemble and get back in time for the bus.:lmao::lmao:
