Would you buy a Chrysler Town & Country?

OMG no... ours is a 2004 and its a real lemon.. transmission, doors, etc the repairs go on and on..

My first minivan was a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager, we drove that thing from 2003-2006, we put so many miles on it. (DBF traded vehicles with his Dad so his Dad got the truck and we got the van) It had well over 150,000 miles on it when we traded it in in 2006, at that time we got a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan w/Stow n Go seats. LOVE that thing!!! I drive it EVERY day, we've driven to DL so many times, to Idaho a time or two and to Monterey. DBF's parents borrow it every time his sister and their family come to visit and I just rolled the odometer, it's got 100,900 miles on it give or take a mile or two. :) It runs GREAT!!! It's comfy, everything works, gets very good gas mileage and we plan to keep it forever. We don't plan on ever buying another minivan, this one is it. :) DBF has a Dodge Neon, it's an 02 and has electrical issues but it too runs like a champ with 130k miles on it. Would we buy another Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge, yes, in fact the cars we want to get next are 2 Dodge's and 1 Chevy. lol We like our American made cars. :)

Oh and we traded the old minivan in because we wanted the Stow N Go seats, we didn't need to but we chose to.

Absolutely YES, I am on my 3rd minivan. The first two were dodge's and this one is a town & country. It is 3 years old, I recently paid it off and all 3 of my vans never needed work beyond their regular maintenance. No trouble with mine whatsoever. Now that my daughter is 17 we are now growing out of the minivan stage but we keep our vehicles a minimum of 6 years. We do go upnorth often and it is a great traveling vehicle.
Best wishes, Lori

The Chrysler has been around a long time and is considered best in its class. I personally don't care for a mini van but the ones I have rented and the ones we have worked on in our shop have not had any major problems. If you don't want a Chrysler the consider another vehicle made by one of the Big 3.

Absolutely.:thumbsup2 I have a 2007 with a little over 23,000 miles on it. Love it. I don't have the leather seats (don't like them). Haven't had it in the shop at all, except for required annual inspection. The stow and go seats are awesome for hauling stuff (like all of our plants and soil to get the yard work done). Gas mileage isn't the best, but on the whole not bad!

Wow thanks everyone for all your input, we are an american made cars family. FIL worked for GM, my husband is brainwashed so no way he'd go for a toyota or honda, i've tried all the arguments out there, plants in U.S., american workers... all that it's still a no go. And ya we'll keep this next van till it falls apart. We currently have (ready for this?) a 1985 Chevy Conversion Van with 76k original miles. Had body work done and it looks great but it's just getting too old to go on long road trips anymore. I still drive it around town but we're heading out this summer and need another vehicle. So i really don't care about trade in values just want to get the best bang for my buck. Our friends have just purchased a used T & C, not sure on the year, and it just looked so nice w/the leather seats and captain chairs for 2nd row....definetely a must w/3 kids, can't have anyone touching anyone. And then I read the incentives today and it just got me thinking, so thanks for all your replies. I think i'll ask my mechanic too and see what his thoughts are. Thanks again.

Yes, I am on my third one. I had an 02, 05 and now drive an 08. The tranny did go in the 05 however, I had the extended warranty on it. I do believe that that year had many transmission issues.

The 08 has air conditing issues. Some sort of hose issue, there are currently 65,000 (number as of last week) on order from Chrysler. I am 15th on the list at our dealer.

I bought the lifetime warranty and plan on driving this one for atleast 10 years.

How much was your lifetime warranty if I may ask? I have no clue never had one on a car.

I bought an '08 T&C back in November after my 2000 Ford Windstar was totalled on the way home from Disney.

With the free leather, free dual screen DVD, built in navigation system, sirius sat. radio, power door & liftgate and heated leather seats...well lets say my DH calls it the princess mobile. I have only 3500 miles on it so far, and I am quite happy with it. I can't say how well it will hold up long term. That remains to be seen. But it is comfortable and drives well so far.

At the time I was pricing, it was $1000.00 less than a 2009 toyota Sienna with cloth seats, one power door & no bells or whistles. My DH test drove the Honda and was not comfortable in it at all. He is 6'5" and he said his knee was right against the center console.

Resale value is not a big issue for me, because I tend to keep my cars a long time (I would still have my windstar if not for the crash!) I have been waiting to see how things would play out befoe investing in the extended waranty. I will most probably purchse it in the next few months.

FWIW, the VW Routan is almost the exact same car as the T&C. My DH has a VW & couldn't believe the similarities when he stopped in their showroom.

Good Luck with your choice. Car buying is such a big decision! Especially if you keep you car long term like I do.

OK i just bought a Kia sedona 2 weeks ago and there was no incentive on the 09 T&C. I got a 08 sedona fully loaded. I would recommend the T&C as it is the highest rated US made minivan. That is not saying much as it came in 5th of all mini vans. The highest of course being Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Kia.

I would only get the T&C if you get the sirrius TV package included as that was the the only mini van with that available and i have to sa it was awsome. If your going budget though i would get the KIA. i got an 08 fully loaded (leather dvd power everything) for 20,000 including TT&L. oh and a 5000 trade in. The 09 kias had no incentives which is why i got an 08. The problem with KIA (and chrysler for that matter) is resale value sucks. if you think your going to sell the van after 5 or less years i would get a toyota/honda. If your going to go the whole 10 a kia with a 10 year warranty is pretty sweet. I had a 02 kia sedona that had some problems in year 10 and it was taken care of no charge

MIne is a 1997 and has 160,100 miles so far. I never had major repairs. Still runs absolutely beautiful!!!

Need i say more??? :goodvibes

I believe it was $1800.00. As long as car is titled in your name, the powertrain is covered.

I have a 2005 stow and go and LOVE it!!!

IT is so nice to put down the seats and use anyway we need it for moving all kinds of things and not haveing to store the seat like we had to wihtou our other minivan.

Also Love the DVD player!

We have a 2007, and like it a lot. It is the second T & C we have owned. Great drive, great room. Love the stow and go. I think it is a crap shoot whether you have problems or not. My sister and law has a Grand Caravan and have had nothing but problems with it. I think it is like anything else, there are some bad ones in the bunch. I have ridden in the hondas and toyota minivans, and do not like them. Much prefer the T & C.

We have a 2008 Grand Caravan. Bought it brand new 6 months ago. Already it's been in for the A/C, transmission slipping and driver side window getting stuck repeatedly. And now I have to take it back in again for the A/C!:headache:

I paid alot of money for this van as I got it fully loaded. I sold my 2006 GMC EnvoyXL for this as we thought it would be a better car to travel in to Disney, etc. And I'm thinking I made a bad decision. :sad2:

We bought an 05 T and C 2 years ago and have put about 50,000 miles on it with no major problems so far. The locks on the doors have stopped working a couple of times, but my husband just starts pulling plugs and it resets - seems to be a problem with that model. Anyway, we now have over 100,000 miles on the van and still plugging away. It has been wonderful for our family - changed from an SUV. I think you will be happy, and the incentives will be an even bigger plus!
We are currently in the market for a used car for my husband - we haven't had once since the mid-1990's! Anything will beat the 8 mpg he gets in his work truck! :sad2:

we have both vehicles and dh's envoy xuv gets my vote out of the two. I cannot believe the lack of quality of this mini van.. :rolleyes1: no wonder they are going bankrupt.. we hade the extended warranty also until 60,000 miles.. now its all out of pocket..

We have had two Town and Country's and one Caravan. We love our T&C. We have quad seats with stow and go. Awesome. You can haul anything you want. I would buy another one in a heart beat. No problems whatsoever. Our Caravan had transmission problems, but otherwise we have had no issues whatsoever.

Good luck with your decision.:cool1:

We actually just bought one tonight!!! We had been looking at the VW Routan, which was built based on the Town & Country. The big difference was the price. The Routan was over $10k more than the Town & Country, so we went out to the Chrysler dealer tonight and got the price we wanted with all of the features we wanted. We drove off the lot with a new van and have a car payment that is only $12 more than the car we traded in. The car we traded was a Pacifica and we had it for 3 years and never had a single problem with it.
