Would you believe this story?

Suppose you knew someone who worked in a bakery. Suppose they work graveyard shift alone. Suppose they tell you they felt really dizzy and needed to eat something quick. They got caught on camera eating one cookie. They got fired the next morning.

Is it believable?

Not, IMO. I would think there is much more to the story...but that is just me...

Well, if the person had a documented case of hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia I MIGHT believe them (and that is a BIG might)

But before I jump to any conclusions, are you sure there isn't more of a back story to this? Like past suspicions of siphoning store goods or something of that nature?

If not, seems terribly petty.

I agree, there has to be more to the story. I have hypoglacemia and KNOWING that I carry peppermints around with me everywhere I go so that if I get shakey I have something.

True, if they had a documented case it is highly unlikely they would be fired. I was just throwing that out there in the slim chance the employer didn't know about it. Like everyone else said, there is probably alot more to the story or just a sorry employee trying to keep a job!

I used to work in the bake shop of a restaurant(midnight to 6) and we were always allowed one piece of pie every night, plus whatever food we wanted for breasfast. I would think that if someone were fired for eating one cookie than there is probably more to the story.

If there is, then I would think it would be the baker who actually bakes all the goods, then who cares about one cookie?

it could happen...I have a friend, very reliable ,trustworthy,honest..

in addition to his full time job he was working part time at a convenience store, one of the soda fountains went dry, he hooked up a new keg, or whatever they're called and put a sip or two in a cup to make sure the mix was right, with the carbonation.....the next night he went in to work and was told that he was terminated for stealing soda. he asked them to pull the security tape and watch what he had done to verify that he had only dispensed a very small amount of soda, checked the mix and then dumped the rest..they refused and told him to leave the store immediately or they would call the cops...

most bakeries have a graveyard shift, they bake while we sleep, so we can have fresh baked goods for breakfast...

I don't know. I sometimes need to eat sugar to stablize myself (otherwise I get really dizzy, shaky and could pass out).

I also can't see a company firing an employee for this, after it's been explained and esp. if it's only one cookie. I mean, if I worked there, I could see there being a time when I might need to do this to keep myself from passing out. But I'd also offer to pay for it, in fact if I had cash on my that night, I'd make sure to pay for it then. Otherwise I'd tell my boss the next day and pay for it.

I think there is more to the story.

Wow. Which store was this? If it's a chain, I won't be going there anymore.

you should carry glucose tablets or gel with you,,for emergency purposes..
