Would you accept $50,000 extra income a year if....

Whatever federal law may be, my point was that, as a mother, I can't seen someone willingly exposing someone else's family to something harmful and laughing all the way to Disney World about. I guess everyone has their price, and for some people it seems to be $50k a year.

No problemo...time to bust out the lead-based paint and redo the house!

BTW, my neighbors tower looks similar to this:

cell-tower6.jpg

It has a flashing light on top too because of FAA regulations.

For all of those concerned about radiation, I suggest looking up information on RF (radio frequency) waves. And if you are still paranoid you might want to remove those baby monitors from next to your infants bed ;)

So you don't believe the radiation is a problem, or it's okay as long as it's someone else's family being exposed? :confused3

IF I was offered 50K/yr to do this, I would definately research the radiation issue first, BUT my point was that IF I was offered that deal, and turned it down, I can gurantee you , my neighbor would accept without thinking twice, so the radiation issue is a moot point...we would be exposed regardles.

hmmmmmmmm, for 50K, I could put it on the roof, move out of the house, leave it vacant, still collect the 50K, and pay a mortgage someplace else.

tempting.....

Do you have a cell phone that noone is paying you to use that has to utilize towers to work and thus adding to the problem?

That is exactly what I was thinking, except I'd rent the house out. I don't think I'd take young families though, aren't the little kids the ones most at risk of cancer from these towers?

Yep, absolutely. Because there will always be people out there willingn to sell themselves and their neighbors short for a few bucks. :thumbsup2

We would if they'd let us put Christmas lights on it! It would be great for a megatree! (Yes, we're crazy Christmas light people.)

There's horrible cell reception in our area of Maine. Too many mountains blocking signals. It's 2009 and just in the last few months we've gotten spotty cell service at our house.

You seem to be very concerned with the risk of radiation from these towers. Do you have links to prove that they do in fact cause cancer? Have you researched the different types of radiation and their known effects on human tissue?

No one will really know the effects of cell phone towers until they've been around for some time. I wouldn't take the chance of finding out 20 years down the line that it's found to be the cause of who knows what. $50,000 is not all that much money, unless you don't make a decent salary to begin with. In that case I'd suggest going back to school and enter a better paying career rather than making money that way.

Good link :thumbsup2

I think people that are worried about radiation forget that they are bombarded with radiation all day long. If you are worried about radiation from a cell tower, better get rid of your microwave oven-same deal there--oh and your cordless phones, your cell phones, etc. too. Oh and you tv and radio too.

Sure I would! I'd just make sure we all wore tin foil hats while in the house to stop the EMPs from going through our brains!

Doesn't matter what links I provide, you will refute them. I believe it's an issue, you obviously don't. As for your EPA link, they are also the govermental regulatory agency who told us that the air around Ground Zero was safe after 9/11.

And remote control cars, baby monitors, your AM/FM radios, WiFi, garage door openers, walkie talkies, and on and on ;)
