Would you accept $50,000 a year extra income if a phone company paid you to put a cell tower on the roof of your house to service the area?

Sure. Maybe then I'd be able to use my cell phone in my house.

As it is now, I can see 2 cell towers from my house and when I find a spot that I an make a call, I can't move from that spot because the reception is so bad.

I've tried 3 of the major carriers and none of them has made a difference in reception.

I'd love to have a tower on my roof if I could get rid of my landline.

As long as I didn't have to "do" anything... yes, in a heartbeat.

Only if I planned on living in that house until I died. My guess is that the cell tower will reduce the market value of your house by more than $50,000.

Put "Cell phone tower on house roof" in google and read the information that comes up. After scanning just a few of the articles, my answer would be no.

Heck yea!! The cell reception really stinks around here - I'd be a hero in town!!!!

:cool1:

This is just what I was thinking too. It sure would be tempting though.

Yes, but she said $50,000 a year, so if you stay at least 5 years that's $250,000 which could make a difference.

The reason I'm not sure I would do it is because of the neighbors. It will drop their house value also, and they won't be getting the extra income.

I've lived next to a neighbor who we did not get along with, and believe me, there is almost nothing worse. So I'm not sure I'd be willing to do something that could cause problems with my neighbor. The old say "money can't buy happiness" may apply in this situation.

i live in a very rural area, and even though there's a tower about 2-3 miles from my house, reception is terrible. i wouldn't put one on my roof, but DH and i own 75 acres of land, so if the phone company wanted to put one on my land a reasonable distance from my house and pay me for it, sure.

No, as i'm sure the legal fees from my neighbor’s suing me would be a lot more

On the roof? Ahh, no.

In the yard (esp if I had some acreage), yes.

In my case, I'm in a neighborhood that is zoned residential & commercial. Plus, there are towers already 2-3 blocks away. I wouldn't worry about my neighbors suing me over this. If they were going to sue anyone, it would be the business down the street from us or the group home around the corner.

Cell towers aren't noisy, they don't poop in neighbors' yards and the don't eat landscaping. To me, they are better than the beagle that lives 2 doors up from me who's owners don't deserve to be owned by a dog.

But the real issue is, dogs don't emit radiation.

ON the roof? Probably not depending on what it looks like. But in My yard for $50 grand a yr? Heck yeah, where do you want it? Absolutely must be written in stone and of course city compliant but bring the backhoe we'll put her up today. :thumbsup2

Just for 1 yr that 50 grand would pay off the vast majority of our bills other the mortgage with enough left over for some nice extras. Even if they moved at the end of that yr would be fine.
