Planning WAY ahead, but we have some friends who want to do a land/sea package with us in a couple of years (waiting for the babies to get a little older). Anyway, we were just going to pay cash for the same package they get 4 night Land/3 night sea and then I was thinking about staying in MCO and using our DVC for another 5 nights.

Since the 4 day tickets are included with the Land/Sea cruise package is it possible to simply upgrade those tickets to add more days to use after our cruise? That would be a big savings over having to buy new tickets and we'd still be within the 14 day expiration.

Has anyone ever done this? Is there a fly in the ointment of this plan that I'm missing?

Yes - you can upgrade your package tickets to either a longer MYW ticket or an annual / premium annual pass (even one of the DVC discounted annual passes if you have the propr ID).

You just have to upgrade within 14 days of the first use of the original MYW ticket. So unless Disney changes the upgrade rules before your trip, I see no flaw in your ticket upgrade plans.

Thanks Carol! I thought that would work and it's such a great way to take a longer vacation since we can use our points for the room and the tickets are practically free, since adding days on is cheap (compared to new tickets!. :cool1:
