Would This Statement Offend You?

It doesn't really offend me, people have the right to put what they want in their signature.

I do think I would look upon this person to be rather dumb, uneducated and tacky.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that was "planned". That's what I found humorous. Sort of like the joke, "Can an atheist claim an act of god on their insurance?"

Not offended at all! Find it rather Funny! :teeth:

I totally agree. She is a friend of the family. My sister finds it very offensive. I personally find it sad. Not because she is an athiest. We are all entitled to choose what we believe in, but because she uses the word "God" in it.

That's why I find it funny! Just the other day my DD asked me what irony was and I couldn't really think of a way to explain it to her and I was struggling to come up with an example - now I have one!

Count me in amoungst the unwashed masses of not offended and slightly amused. ;)

Egads, Am I in an alternative Universe? Or at least an Alternative Thread?

This is the Jesus Skywriting thread, just the other way around.

Thank you for proving the point that if something else that is not Christian is adverstised, it WOULD be offensive and not funny to Christians.

I think that's the point. ;) The irony in the statement IS the joke. :)

Yeah, I "get" it, that's why I find it funny. ;) I think people love to try to "shock" people with their beliefs. Whatever tickles your pickle...

I think the thing to consider in this is it's intent. It doesn't offend me and I think it's too silly to offend anyone, but there may be a malicious underlining to it. It's just like if a Christian shoves Jesus in the face of non-Christians, if she's put this there to kind of stick it to her Christian friends, then I agree that it's bad taste. If not, it's just a dumb joke. I guess only she knows how she intended it to be.

I believe this is called irony. But I am sure there will be 20 pages to follow of people correcting me.

Did I make sense :confused3 oh well, after all Im on the DIS :rotfl:

No, it wouldn't offend me, but she is contradicting herself by using God and atheist in the same sentence.

please see the posts above; it is called irony

I'm not offended. Good grief don't we have enough things to worry about than someone's signature?

I don't think it's funny, I don't think anything about it...it's just..whatever.

I can't imagine that atheists spend their time being offended by people's Jesus fish bumper stickers. I mean don't you just see it and move on?

If That offends -
then I'd say you're looking for something to get offended about.
