Would this annoy you?

I would rather see a child with a pen light than listen to them screamng at the top of their lungs... :flower:

Yes, if those were my only options, I'd take the pen light. :earsboy:

OK, I give up, what does "snarky" mean? I'm a N.J. native and must have lead a sheltered life. Or is this one of those new "young folk" terms?? :confused3 :rotfl:

I can't help but think that the people who are so adament about no lights whatsoever, if the ride was totally dark, would find somehing else to complain about. A child being to loud, the boat rocking too much, whatever. This is Disney World. Thousands of people a day, and most of them will not act and think exactly like you. There is no ride rule book that states lights are not allowed. So if a child needs a small light for comfort, so be it. As the adult you can then approach the ride knowing there may be lights and decide if you wish to ride it or not. :smooth:

The OP asked as simple question, would a light annoy you? Just because I said yes, does not mean I complain about everything in the world. I personally think there are many more rude and obnoxious adults in WDW who think that they are the only ones in the park, than excited children. Those of us who are answering "yes this would annoy" are not jumping up and down and demanding the child be banned from dark rides for life. We just simply said it would take away from the magic and please be considerate of others.

I also believe that the OP is a very considerate person just for asking our opinions, instead of doing something without considering how it would effect others. Cudos to the OP.

OK, I think we ALL agree about one thing - OP you are very considerate thinking about what might annoy others. I truely think that is where you were coming from. That being said, I think it's equally as plausable that the question might have been posted by someone overly concerned about what other people think - I had a friend who worried about what the person behind her thought of her driving, even tho' she drove just fine. Just not necessary.

I think it would be interesting to pose the original question to kids rather than adults. I speculate that 99% of kids would NOT be annoyed with another child holding a small light to enable them to enjoy a ride. I bet most of them would not even notice, being caught up in the magic themselves. And if it was pointed out to them, I bet most would want the other child to be able to enjoy the ride too. (Yes, I might be wrong, it is just my speculation. But I believe I am right.)

Now, since we are all just big kids when we are at WDW, can't we try to act more like them????? :confused3

I appreciate that everyone just gave honest opinions - to which you are each entitled. I hope you all can appreciate that I was just trying to be inject some humor, although some apparently thought it snarky or insulting.

Snarky - originally British slang, a combination af sarcastic and cynical.

Snarky means snippy, snotty, unnecessarily rude in a verbal way - ya know, snarky :teeth: .

I grew up in NJ too, but I don't remember where I learned 'snarky'.

In my case, If it annoys people so what! My son deserves to have fun at Disney as much as everyone else and if a bit of light helps, so be it.

I think Disney should do away with all lights in all rides - then no adults can be annoyed. Bonus is, lines on more popular rides will decrease since you won't be able to tell one ride from the other once inside. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
