We live in an apartment complex that is one story and the apartments are in a caldasac. There are 12 apartments in the caldasac shaped like a U and we all share the same driveway. Well, we have these little kids that have a mini bike and they drive it up and down the caldasac. And since DH has the car today, our carport is empty and they are driving through it. The problem is that the carport is right outside the bedroom. And this is where my son takes a nap (and he will need to go down shortly). So, they drive this minibike up and down the caldasac, honking the horn the whole time. It is driving me nuts!!!! I have had them wake my son up before doing this. And it also bugs me that they don't take into consideration the other people that live here. I have been listening to this bike for over an hour now.

Would this annoy you? I want to call the office and see if they can come over and do something. It's not the safest place to be driving this thing and not one of the kids are wearing a helmet. DH thinks I should just let it go and let them have their fun. I know kids need to be kids and have their fun but I don't think it should at the expense of bothering people. Any suggestions?

Where I live they are illegal. I would call the police and let them handle it, then you will be anonymous. The office might tell everyone who called.

Is the road that leads to your apartment considered a city street. If so, the mini-bike should not be allowed on the road. We have a little 50CC, plus 4-wheelers and we can drive them on our lawn, we have 2 acres, but never on the road. Many neighbors have complained about the noise, but since it is on our property, there is not much they can do. We try to be respectful, we only run them when the boys are working on them and need to test drive them. It is not like they are on the bikes for hours at a time.

(Only once did a neighbor call and ask if Matt could stop riding his 50cc. It was when he got it and he rode it almost 3 hours straight, which I didn't know cause I was at work). I made him go over an apologize and he did. :moped:

I was going to say to go out and tell the kids to stop. But after reading the other responses, I agree, and say to report it.

One word -- caltrops. :earboy2:

Seriously, though -- I'd call the office and give them a chance to stop these kids. If they're unresponsive, call the police and tell them they're disturbing the peace. If they're not supposed to be riding the bikes on the streets, get pictures if you can to show the police.

getting pictures!!!! GREAT idea!!!!!!

I don't believe our driveway is considered a city street but it is also not private property. Well, it's the apartments property but not the property of the people that own the bike. I could tolerate the noise of it but it's the driving right next to my bedroom window and the honking the horn that has to stop.

Well, after the kid pretty much stopped the bike and layed on the horn on the sidewalk leading up to my door, I went outside and told him to get away from my house. I haven't heard it since. I'm sure they thought since most of the cars are gone from the parking lot that that everyone is at work...not the case here.

I think I may call and report it. These kids aren't any older the 8 or 9, no helmets and the way people buzz in and out of the driveway, someone is going to end up hurt.

Thanks guys, good to know I wasn't overreacting.

Illegal around here..we just call the cops, they come, pack the minibike up in their trunk and take them away....same thing with those little gas scooters all the kids are riding, last summer they had a field day takeing all those things from the kids around here...there was about 6 cop cars here at one point with one in each trunk after taking them from the kids!

We had that problem here. Riding in the back of my yard. theres conservation land there. And the next door neighbors kids made a track. All freaking day long. It was horrible!!!!

After about 3 days I did call the police, said well They could be doing worse things. At least they are keeping out of trouble. Well Fall came and we lost a few trees in the Winter. Directly across the track. I refused to let DH move them and the track was useless because I would have had to remove the trees from my property. Which I of course would not do.

Personnalt I would put some rather large toys in your car port to prevent them from coming through. Living in that close proximity I probably wouldn't get anything going.

Do you have a little pool you can fill? Little tykes house? Put it dead center and ignore them.
