We were looking to eat at a few restaurants in which the flavors might be to strong for DS who is 15, like Kona Cafe Would they take a kids meal & make it enough for an adult? We will be on the DDP.

they do offer Junior sizes of kids meals, for instance 2 grilled cheese sandwiches instead of 1.

We were told that most restaurants that are TS will do that for you. My DS got a GIANT macaroni and cheese at 50's Prime Time.

Two sandwiches is a junior size? Does anybody (child, junior, or adult) really need to eat two sandwiches at a meal?

Have you every had a growing boy? :) My oldest is 11 and he can out-eat me and my DH put together and still be hungry!

Actually I do -- just because they can eat something doesn't mean they should. With the obesity epidemic in our country, knowing what a reasonable portion is is something many adults struggle with. It would be better to have one sandwich and then get "seconds" knowing that you are doing so than just be served two sandwiches as your meal. Sorry, not trying to start an argument here, just a pet peeve of mine. I am off my soapbox now ;)

Funny, my question is the opposite. Can you kids size an adult meal?

I have an 8 y/o who is a very good eater. Cheese pizza and PBJ will not make her happy for a week. My 6 y/o on the other hand.....

Guess we'll just be sharing from our plates for my oldest.

2 grilled cheeses wouldn't even be near enough for my 15 year old. (Although he would eat an adult meal, not a kids' one.) He 6'2" tall (and growing :scared1:) and about 180 lbs. Skinny but lots of muscle from playing hockey. I can't imagine it would be enough to satisfy any of his friends either. :confused3
For that matter, I can't imagine my 11 year old or any of his friends thinking a grilled cheese is a meal. They're all pretty skinny, too. I think the key is a healthy balance and being active instead of playing video games/ watching TV all day. :goodvibes

OP - Have a great trip!

Wow, that's quite a critique. What size sandwiches are we talking about? Apparently I'm eating too much. Or maybe I just exercise too much.:rotfl2:

My DS, 15, would eat that plus & he doesn't have an ounce of fat on him b/c he plays sports all year round.

Perhaps if people were more active there wouldn't be an obesity problem.

I'm shocked at that statement. My DS (9) can and will eat two for a meal. He plays sports all year long and is very active. We struggle to keep any weight on him at all. That was a very judgemental statement.
