I'll be arriving this Friday through Monday and notice that the humidity will be almost the same as the temperature this weekend at DLR. I've never been to DLR with this kind of weather and I am wondering what this feels like--is it as sticky hot as the east coast in the summer? And I'd love any suggestions for ways to dress and what to do to manage the humidity and heat.

We have had some insanely humid weather most of the Summer here in SoCal this year. I don't know why, but it sucks! LOL

I was just at DL this past weekend, and it was hot and humid. Mid-80's, but the humidity made it feel like mid-90's. We wore shorts and tank tops, lots of sunscreen. Went on indoor, air-conditioned rides. Drank lots of water. Stayed in the shade when and where we could, and went on water rides a couple of times. It wasn't unbearable, but it was definitely hot.

I've never been to the East Coast, but I've been to TX in August, and this was nowhere near as bad as that. The humidity just makes it feel hotter than it actually is, but we weren't dripping sweat or anything.

We were there in September last year, yes it was hot and humid too! I would suggest taking hotel breaks. It saved us for sure!! We would make sure to sit down and hydrate for an hour or 2. The heat and humidity definitely drains your energy!

Have a magical time!!:)

How are the evenings/nights in September? Cool enough for a light jacket?

It depends on when in September you go. I just got back from a trip, and I was in shorts, tank tops and/or T-shirts from open to close. The first 2 weeks or so would be like that. MAYBE change into jeans at night, but still just a T-shirt. However, the further into September you go, it does start to cool down in the evenings where a light jacket or a sweatshirt might be needed...especially as you get closer to October.

Hope that helps!

I think it depends on how easily you get chilled. Sometimes after being in the hot sun all day it can feel cooler than it actually is when the sun goes down -- I have noticed that. It may not be any cooler than, say, 65 degrees -- which is not that cool -- but the after-effects of the harsh daytime sun make the temperature drop feel more drastic than it actually is. For some folks it will be a relief, and no jacket will be needed. For others, it may warrant a jacket.

I'd say a light jacket or cover-up might not be a bad idea -- as Tyggress said, depending on when in September you go. September is a confused month, and it often cannot decide if it wants to be more summer-like or fall-like. Right now, and all this week, it will be on the summer side. Sometimes even October lingers in summery territory for a while.

The last two years we have gone mid to late September. We have never needed pants, and only needed a sweatshirt a couple of nights when the parks were open late on the weekends.

Thanks everyone. We are arriving September 23rd....so I'm thinking I'll pack a jacket and pair of pants just in case!

I picked up some of those towels that you wet and keep you cool. Not sure if they work or not but thought I would try it.

Our plan will be to be in the parks open to about 1-2 pm and then back to the hotel for swimming and A/C. Then back to the parks around 5-6pm.

We are here now and yes, you can definitely feel the humidity! I live in Utah, where it is also usually very dry, but grew up in the east. Anaheim right now definitely feels more like back east than Utah. Although we did feel hot and sticky yesterday, it certainly wasn't unbearable. Taking breaks in air conditioned attractions helps, as do cooling towels (we have Frogg Toggs), and mister fans. Also just keep drinking water!

Wear light colored loose fitting clothing, drink lots of water(stay away from sodas and fruit juices), and ride the air conditioned/water rides & shows during the heat of the day.:cool1:

I live in SoCal (in L.A.), and it seemed extremely humid last night -- more so than it did in the daytime. It was quite unpleasant where I am!

The air will alternately be dry, then humid, then dry again. (And when it's dry, that's bad, as it adds to the elements that create wildfires -- especially if there is any kind of wind involved.)

It is supposed to be around 90 degrees in Anaheim this coming Friday, 9/12 (with a "feels like" temperature of 97 degrees), so if it is dry it will be unpleasant. If it is humid it will be unpleasant.

Looks like its going to hit triple digits by Sunday. I suggest hitting the parks first thing in the morning and returning to the hotel pool during the hottest part of the day and return to the parks in the late afternoon.

.

Wow, that's hot! Sure hope it cools off a bit before we go in 2 weeks!

Yes going to parks Monday through Friday and really concerned about the heat. We really didn't want to "go back to the hotel" with such short hours during the day but we are going to roast in that heat.

Maybe go back on days you need a rest/swim and then on other days do cool things during that afternoon block like: long lunch inside one of the hotel restaurants, animation academy, Lincoln, innovations, Aladdin show, etc. or do splash/GRR and then have a lemon ice or ice cream in the shade.

I truly hope it's not dreadful when we are there but we're planning to head back to the hotel midday because I have a toddler who still naps.

We bought some of those, and they work like a charm!! IF - you wear them around your head, like Daniel-San in the Karate Kid!! :beach: That being said, they could still be helpful. We find they need to be refreshed a lot more often than we thought. Maybe a small ziploc bag of iced water would be good to throw the cloth in there and re-wet.

Thanks for all the great tips!! I did a little research myself and came up with this idea: an o2 cool carbiner water misting fan. It is this cute little colorful thing that clips on your belt, is inexpensive and I read some review from folks who found them super helpful at DW--lightweight, easy to carry around and they don't get in your way on rides

Yeah, we arrive Monday night and I about choked when I saw its supposed to be 99 degrees on Sunday. Ugh! I am not digging that!

Bring on the rain! We are from Tacoma. We can handle the rain.

I have a mister fan I bought in DL last time we were there. It still works great. I even brought it to Cub Scout camp with me in July and all my boys loved it. It was much more effective at cooling them then just dumping water on their heads like I did the first day.

I hadn't planned on the pool. My daughter doesn't even have a swimsuit that fits. I really don't want to try to find her one this time of year. Plus, it takes an hour to straighten her hair. If she swims I'll have to wash and straighten her hair again.

Thanks! Just packed a couple of ziplocks! I know we can get ice water in the parks so hopefully we can keep up with keeping them cool!

We also have water bottles that keep stuff super cold(Can put ice in it and it last hours even in a hot car). They are a bit on the heavy side but I think having ice cold water through out the day will be a nice trade off for the weight.
