Hello,

This is my first time to post here, I have a question, hopefully some of you "pros" can help me!

First of all, I would like to stay at BWV in a 2 bdrm Villa on Thursday May 30th - June 4th (five nights) checking out Friday morning.

As I understand it, that would take 150 pts. Willing to pay $10.00 point. The thing is, I already have one ressi, bought and paid for, for a studio. More people are going so we need a larger room!

I rented that room (65pts) from a dvc owner on ebay, and paid.
Now, she says she doesn't have any 2 bdrm's available for those dates, so I can't upgrade! And I don't think she will refund my money...What should I do? I have already paid for everything..tickets, plane fare, etc.
It seems like logically I should be able to apply what I have paid so far for a bigger room.

Since I don't know enough about this to figure out what to do, I was hoping someone could help me.
Thanks!

Brook

Brook,

I don't believe there is any availability for your dates at BWV for either a studio or a 2-br.

However, there may be availability at Old Key West or maybe this person you bought from E-Bay can try to waitlist it for you. I would think through waitlist she will get it. You just need to see if she is willing to do that for you and maybe find out if she has a cancellation policy.

Or you can try to see if someone else here has another studio or a 1-br existing reservation, or if you can find someone willing to waitlist for you, to get a 1-br at BWV. Combined with the studio you already have, they may make it adjoinging and become a 2-br.

I hope this helps and best of luck!!!!

Lat,

Thank you for the reply. I don't really want OKW, but would be willing to switch to BCV.
I will post about the 1 bdrm, I didn't think of that.
I really wouldn't mind the studio, but we have three adults, a five year old and a seven year old, and from what I understand that is too many people for a studio. I just don't want to get there and find out we can't check in b/c of too many people.
Thanks again!

Brook

Yep, you have one too many for a studio. If one of your kids was under the age of 3, you would be able to use the pack and play for the baby to sleep.

Your problem is just one of those unforseeable problems that renters may encounter. You aren't renting from Disney, just an individual. This is a very busy time for DVC (what with the Member Homecoming), and you are pretty close to the vacation date, so you are just out of luck. Unless the member can change the reservation to another Disney resort (like YC, GF, CR, AK for example) that has a room that sleeps 5, but it will cost you more for the points.

I don't know if this is true or not, and maybe some members here will know. I was told by a DVC member that if you bring your own bedding, like a sleeping bag or blow-up mattress, Disney allows a fifth person in the studio, or at least looks the other way.

Any comments?

Unfortunately, you don't have many options right now...if you were renting a hotel room for cash, yes, you'd have more flexibility but that flexibility comes at a higher cash cost. You are essentially renting the member's home from them, and that member does compete with other members for reservations at that time.

Most DVCers (at least around here) are pretty decent people and I'd imagine they'd work with you if they could. As mentioned, Old Key West is your best bet assuming the renter has enough points to rent to you. The upside is OKW is less expensive 'points-wise'.

Other options include 'renting' points for another studio (harder to do with BW or BC) or paying cash for a studio if one is available.

As to cramming 5 into a studio...well, it's a hot topic but there are some BW studios with a day bed (well, there were anyway). Getting one of these rooms at check-in is probably more serendipity than anything else. And much to the chagrin of many, Disney doesn't send out the 'Room Occupancy Control Police' to see how many people are rooming together.

Good luck,
Joe

Thanks guys! I called the member # the dvc owner gave me when we added the other person (so we have three adults, 2 kids 5 & 7).
I told them we were adding one and so now had five total. They acted like it was no biggie, I got the "provide your own linens" thing I see talked about alot here. They put me on the list for a studio with a child bed. I asked what if I don't get it, she said doesn't matter. Oh, and I got her name, etc.
Also just to double check..I called BWV directly, talked to a Mangr (got her name too), she said the same, no problem to check in.
So at this point, we will just stay in the studio.
I had been willing to change to a different resort (the member I bought from is also a travel agent, and found a room at YC for about $500.00 more than I paid), I seriously considered until I called and got the okay for the studio.
Of course, I will hope for the daybed room, but if I don't get it, I don't. I was obsessing over the issue, but everyone I talked to said it was fine.
Thanks again!

just wanted to mention that the so-called "daybed" in the BWV studio rooms is really just a tiny cushioned bench. so even if you do get that request granted, it probably won't help that much.

i would count on bringing a sleeping bag or a twin size aerobed for sleeping on the ground.

you will be very cramped no matter what! so just be prepared for that.

you might want to think about trying to rent another studio at BWV, and then requesting for those 2 studios to be located somewhat close to each other.

I still think you should talk to the person you rented points from and see if they could get you a Disney Collection instead of a DVC resort. You should try to get a deluxe resort that will comfortably sleep 5 (two queen sized beds and one day bed - a real day bed, not the upholstered luggage rack that they have a BWV).

A studio only holds 4 persons plus one child under the age of three years. You will be seriously crowded. You only have one queen sized bed and one double sleeper sofa. When the sleeper sofa is opened up, you have little or no floor space for a sleeping bag or air bed. Your 5 yr old will NOT like the luggage rack to sleep on if you even get it. It is not something that can be requested.

Or you can leave one person at home and bring them next time.
