Would it be bad manners to bring your own water to a TS?

I just like *my* water better. :goodvibes Since there is no charge on ice water anyway, would it be tacky to just ask for a glass and fill it from our own water bottles?

It probly wouldnt be a problem at disney, but some places wouldnt let you do it becaus they would suspect you of sneaking in alcohol in those bottles. Just incase you may want to carry an extra bottle unopened.

That's a GREAT idea! I wish I would have done that last week. Only problem though -- and I noticed this with my soda -- was once the ice started to melt in the drink, you tasted the Florida water. NASTY!!

As much water as I drink in a day, I simply cannot imagine carrying THAT much bottled water around the parks each day! Why not just buy a bottle of water? I don't do tap water either!

1) Isn't that kind of like cheating the eatery of revenue?
2) You can order water there.
3) Almost like bringing you own salad, steak, dessert?

NOTE: As majority owner of two restaurants, no one can bring in food. It is our existence and puprose in life to sell things to patrons. However, we have had a few people ask to bring a special bottle of bubbly - in which case, when pre-assranged, we charge a $25/bottle "corking" fee. Disney also has a corking fee.

It's not as if there is a charge for tap water. There are many restaurants in Disney that don't offer bottled water. If the restaurant DOES offer bottled then don't use your own. If they ONLY have tap, then drink your own water. If a restaurant only offers free nasty tap water then they are not loosing out on revenue by you bringing in your own.

I agree completely.

Frankly, if anyone thinks that the water in Disney tastes bad, they have no idea what bad water tastes like. I have relatives living in the countryside with a lot of iron and other minerals in the well water. Now that is nasty!

Try living in Naples, where every 2 weeks you have to clean out the screen of your faucet to dispose of the "debris"  because you have barely a trickle of water coming out of the faucet. I've never seen such ill water in my life! We use bottled water for everything except bathing, washing dishes, and washing clothes.

Would you do this at home? Why behave differently while dining at Disney?

Actually, we do it at my mom's all the time. She lives in NJ (and I'm sure the NJ-ians out there will back me up) and their tap water is horrible. We always bring bottled water (if she doesn't already have it).

Like one poster said, as long as they don't offer bottled water on the menu (and I don't remember seeing that on any of the menus) then I don't think it's a big deal.

My question is do you take your own food or water into restaurants at home? Do you carry you own into Red Lobster? Your local Steakhouse? The 4 star hotel restaurant for a special occassion meal? Why on earth would you do that at Disney. Drink "your water" before you head into the restaurant and all you want when you leave. Its inappropiate and all of the Disney places can get you bottled water, tap water or other beverage with your meal. By the way, the tap water is probably filtered water and so not truly tap. These places have fountian drink machines the water that comes out of those is filtered; similar to Aquafina or Dasani.

We have good water here in Maryland. But in the cafe of my bookstore, we still have a water filtration system. I'm sure such systems are in place at Disney. So even if you are drinking tap water, I'm sure it's been filtered. I say this because I've never noticed a taste when drinking it.

I can't stand tap water, or water that is "filtered" from the rest. I ALWAYS bring me own water bottle where ever I go, and that includes out to eat. My water bottle is a part of me:laughing: I don't go anywhere without it and it's a water bottle so that is excepted as normal.

I have NEVER had any problems, no matter how nice the rest.:)

Well then I must have had REALLY bad servers because I don't remember anyone offering me bottled water (non sparkling) with my meals. By your logic, if I was at a BYOB restaurant at home (Disney doesn't have any BYOB restaurants at least as far as I know) it would be rude to bring a bottle of wine. I guess I should just wait and drink it at home.

I carry my water everywhere with me too. In WDW, it's in my bag so if they don't offer bottled water, I have it. I can't drink WDW water whether it comes out of the fountain or not. I get sick from it.

I often drink my own water in WDW at Park restaurants. I don't do that at Signatures in the resorts. But in the Park ones, it seems rather normal. You're touring, you're probably carrying a drink, so why buy a new one? I have been carrying my own water for years & many trips & never had a problem with it.

No, I don't carry my own into restaurants here at home, but then again, I can drink the water here without getting sick & I am not in a giant Theme Park setting either. No matter how big & how brilliant WDW is, it's still a theme park & the "rules" of behaviour are not the same as they are in the real world.

The restaurants have bottled water. It's a beverage option on the kids menu. Restaurants don't usually allow people to bring in their own food or beverages, except wines as a PP noted, or sippy cups and small snacks for babies/toddlers. It's not economically in their interest, along with being a liability. If a patron gets sick, they blame the restaurant first, not their potentially contaminated bottled water they carried in. More than once I've seen parents carry in McDonald's or other fast food at nice restaurants, because their kids prefer it over the restaurant's menu options. It always ends in one of two scenarios: 1) the fast food is put away and the kids find something to eat off the menu, or 2) the family leaves without dining. I don't see carrying in bottled water as any different. It's tacky. When you dine out, you have to accept the options available to you at a particular establishment or go elsewhere, whether it's Disney World or the outside world.

Well, no. A BYOB restaurant likely doesn't provide wine (otherwise, why would the policy be BYOB?). It's a licensing or economic issue.
