Would I be able to catch a 10:30 flight after the cruise?

I like, never fly ..... cause' I'm a scardey cat.

But ... great airtran deals for the dates of my cruise.

So, I'm thinking about it.

But ... on the day we leave I have a choice of 10:30ish or later that evening at 7:40pm.

I don't want to sit around an airport all day ... so do you think my family of four would be able to catch the earlier flight?

THanks

I don't want to discourage you, but you really have to have the travel gods working for you. In June, we got off the ship about 8:30 and arrived at the airport around 9:30. That was with Tiffany Towncar. I don't think you mentioned how you were getting to the airport. Disney transport would probably be a little slower due to waiting for the bus to fill up and then empty out at the airport. That doesn't give you the 2 plus hours that is recommended. If everything goes right, I think you make it, but if you happen to get your luggage or carry-on inspected, I don't think you would make the flight.

I would be worried about making a flight that early, even if you get off as early as possible. We take Happy Limo and have almost always made great time getting to the airport, even being on the late breakfast seating. But once someone else took our luggage, and Disney would not take a report until EVERY else had claimed theirs, in case it would show up (it never did--they took it to Ohio, and e got it back several weeks later). That was a BIG delay, and we couldn't go out to tell the towncar driver because of Customs. Thank goodness they waited patiently for us! Other things can go wrong, such as the ship being delayed by a medical emergency, mechanical failure, etc. I would opt for the late evening flight and maybe spend some time at Downtown Disney, IOA, or somewhere like that. We have done that on several of our trips.

We had the same problem with our 1/26 cruise. It was either a 10:45 or 5:45 pm flight. I was afraid to book the 10:45. I knew there was a good chance we could make the earlier one, but if any ONE thing went wrong, we would be in trouble.

I booked the later flight. We decided we would have fun that day, even if it was only in the airport...lots of shops and restaurants.

On the last day of the cruise, we were up nice and early, got off the ship right on time and headed straight for the airport. Disney Cruise Line Bus arrived at the airport at 9:00 am. We went directly to the Delta ticketing counter and inquired about availability on the 10:45. There were 73 seats available, so they put us on!!

If you are considering doing what we did.....just do NOT check your bags until after you have inquired about getting on the earlier flight. Several of our fellow cruisers checked their bags curbside and then inquired about an earlier flight. The airline was unable to accomodate them because you must travel on the same flight as your bags!

Good Luck,
Kathy

I agree, 10:30 would be pushing it with all the new airposrt security. May I suggest what we did when face with the same problem. We decided to do one-way rentals from AVIS. On the day of our return we picked up our rental car and drove down the beach, did a little sight seeing, then over to WDW for that last minute souvenier shopping at Downtown Disney.
