Would going to Disney even be Fun?

Based in the rumored resort and park rules and restrictions due to Covid-19, would going and dropping big $$$$ even be fun or worth it?

-wearing masks (fun in the summertime)

- Social Distancing

- No parades

- No Fireworks

-Take out only food

-limited pool occupancy

Just to name a few speculative potential policies when parks and resorts re-open.

This just doesn't seem like fun to me. So at what point do you say, great I am safer, but this isn’t any fun or worth the time or money?

Doesn't sound like fun to me, which makes me real sad as I have always looked forward to our WDW trips.

Being stuck in my home and in weather that is questionable, I think it will still be better than being here,

Since I have an AP, the only real cost is airfare, and food. Given how much we have saved not doing anything, that will make the take out option a wash,

It won’t be the same, but certainly relaxing to sit on a balcony, enjoying the nice sunshine, or walking around the grounds of different resorts.

47 year WDW veteran here. I don't do well with change and I am sad too, but I'm hoping by October 2021 things will be (mostly) back to normal. We'll see. We cancelled two trips this year and will wait it out - boo hoo

Nope...which is why at this point we've cancelled our Sep trip. We went in November, December, and January as well as a February DL trip. We are okay with not going for awhile.

I think for us the biggest issues is the planning. Like many others here, we are uber planners. We could plan a perfect "Covid trip" and it could get completely changed a few days before due to the fluidity of the situation. I just don't want to risk getting to WDW and wishing we hadn't come.

We will all have to wait and see. We have our next trip planned for the later part of Jan 2021, I hope that happens but only time will tell. We have an annual pass that we haven't activated yet, if the parks aren't open we won't be activating in 2021.

I'm guessing that being in warmer weather may be enough of an incentive to make it worth it for us to drive to FL and keep our plans as scheduled. It may be different then trips in the past, we may actually prepare meals in the room for the first time. I don't see this as a bad thing, it could actually be a good and eye opening experience for us. I'm holding on to the hope that we will be going in Jan 2021. I hope I'm right!

At some point this does have to come to an end, I'm hoping sooner rather than later.

We're keeping our fingers crossed for October 2020 (our rescheduled April trip, actually we should be there now enjoying the Hoop-de-Doo dinner...we usually go one-two times a year. This trip we're taking some who have never been...if it's an abbreviated experience, or we're still concerned about health issues, we may consider canceling.

As a WDW regular on a DVC gold AP, a limited experience with less TS dining spending wouldn’t be much $$.
I suppose no parades of fireworks wouldn’t give us the shorter lines we generally take advantage of while others stop and watch.

We would go. It beats the cold and rain (and last week’s snow) here in New England. But I would mostly go because it means my family of 4 is actually together after however many months of my husband living in a camper for fear of bringing something home from work; my young kids would actually get to physically be with their father after months of only seeing him through FaceTime, a window, or a storm door. I booked a mid-August trip for this very reason after a few weeks of him living in the camper.

I’m with you. After a certain amount of restrictions, what’s the point? We really enjoy TS dining so cutting that off would be reason for us to save the points and cancel our trip.

Well it’s almost the end of April and some areas of New England are going to get some snow tonight. High of 44F today some 20 degrees F below average. We were supposed to be there right now for the week. Already have a November trip booked.

We will go. We have AP and it’s short direct flight from Texas. We booked for November since I expect our May trip will get cancelled. I’m ok with whatever modifications they need to put in place to keep things safe.

We will not go to a place like WDW until 2022, most likely.

The good news is we had a nice trip in the first week of February before the situation exploded. We will bank next year’s DVC points (as long as they don’t restrict banking) and travel in 2022. Normally we would go back early next year.

My son is potentially high risk. If measures like this are in place, it is still too risky for us to go. We will wait a while and see what happens.

I also wouldn’t want such a limited experience. Many of the things that would be taken away or limited are some of our favorite parts of Disney trips. It’s not all rides for us. I’d rather enjoy the memories of our most recent “normal” trip & wait it out before returning.

Depends on how many families/people can roll with the changes instead of rebelling against the changes in the Disney "bubble". We had APs and went 5 times during 2018, but it will probably be a while until we go again. But, if the prices remain the same or increase and a lot of the entertainment is removed, then it would probably be a hard sell.

While I appreciate many who will not go until there’s a vaccine, or at least unt the entire thing is over....

There very well could be a new virus that comes around in 2022.

Can’t live life in a shell. You could also get hit by a car crossing the street.

Answer to the thread title.....a resounding YES. Not all, but most people can choose to have fun. It is a quirk of human nature. Sometimes it takes a little bit of effort, but fortunately a huge swathe of the population have that choice.

Yes, it would still be fun.

No, I would not go with all those restrictions, unless there was a large price cut. This might sound weird, but I’d rather go to Universal with those restrictions. Special dining, character interactions, parades, and night shows are an integral part to Disney trips. I’d be fine without them at Universal.
