OK - we are going in 16 days! WOO HOO! :cool1: Anyway, DH thinks I should call Guest Services and ask if they would write a little letter to my kids "inviting" them to come and stay for a few days. Is this something they would actually do? We could just as easily write one and "mail" it but DH thinks it would be better if it were on Disney letterhead paper or somethign like that. So - what do you think? Am I wasting my time asking? I mean, I can't be the FIRST person to call and request this could I? :p

TIA
Sue

If you send a request to;

The Walt Disney Company
Attn: fan mail dept
500 South Buenan Vista st
Burbank CA 91521

They will send you a signed autograph of any character but I think it takes at least a few weeks to receive one.
Sorry I couldn't help more, but that's all I know of.

They will do something, but you need to give them more notice.

My kids sent a note to Mickey about three months before our cruise last year. One of Mickey's helpers sent back a form letter telling them that Mickey was looking forward to their visit and sent along an autographed photo of Mickey.

However, if you ask, another Diser probably has an extra postcard lying around (I don't, or I'd volunteer) and would send it off to your kids from Mickey. They've been doing that over on the cruise board for a while and it works very well.

Check out the Fairy Godmailer thread that is a sticky at the top of the page. You may find someone who will be going to WDW soon that will be willing to send your kids a letter or postcard. I would do it, but I don't leave for a couple of weeks yet.

i did that autograph thing
we never got anything

i would go to the fairy god mother thread
we got 2 for our boys that way
and the poly concierge also sent them something
I sent of 5 postcards when we were there in august to people
your fellow disers are a great resource I would use that

I second (or third or fourth) the fairy godmother thread -- just be sure you're willing to give as well as get. Our kids got beautiful postcards, personalized, from a wonderful woman who took time to incorporate their interests into the messages she wrote. We tried to do the same at our end, and I heard back from several of the recipients (we sent out about a dozen) that their kids had gotten a big kick out of the post cards.

You're leaving pretty soon, so you might want to jump on that right away. Another alternative would be to make your own and send it locally. Good luck, and have a great time!

Along with the fairy godmailer thread, there is a pay it forward thread, same concept.

My kids still admire their postcard they got before we left.

We took our in-laws with us last year, their first trip to DW, their first airplane ride and their first real vacation. I wrote a letter to my 4-year-old nephew that was "from Mickey" and had the kind folks at the AirTran counter in Indianapolis hand deliver it to him while we were waiting at the gate. It had Disney clip art and stickers on it. It said something about how Mickey hoped he had a wonderful first airplane trip and that he looked forward to seeing him at the Magic Kingdom, etc. The attendants were more than happy to help in the magic and actually instead of walking it over to him, they called his name on the intercom and asked him to come to the desk. His eyes were huge. His dad read the letter to him and the little guy looked up at all of us with amazement and said "Mickey knows I am coming to see him!" It was a great way to start off the trip. I left a letter and "little something" in front of his door each day, something that would occupy him while waiting in line. Up to a certain age, kids would really have no idea a letter came from WDW or not. You can make something on your pc that would look pretty official.

Thanks everyone! :)

I actually hit up my neighbor who left for Disney yesterday morning and asked her if she would send a postcard or letter from "Mickey & Friends" inviting my kids to come and see them. She is going to do it. :) She also gave me a piece of stationary that she got from Disney that says "A Magical Message From" and I added Mickey & Friends (in Disney font!) to it. The kids are going to F-L-I-P! :cool1: I can't wait.

And completely off topic (kind of)....I told DH that they were doing the Magic Your Way again next year and (half jokingly)asked if he wanted to do it again! He said "Sure! If the price is right!" :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cool1:  So now I am going to look into THAT for next year!!! We haven't even gone yet THIS year and already he said sure to next!!!!!! :goodvibes
