We are hoping to go to HH in May. Airfare is much cheaper if we fly in to GA and drive to HH. Would it be nice to have a car? We would be there for four days with no kids.

TIA.

You really need a car at HH. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but so many other great ones if you have a car. You would be pretty limited if you didn't have the car.

Thanks! I had a feeling it would be helpful.

Wish me luck. I am going to try to book it tomorrow. :goodvibes

Here's a little pixie dust for you pixiedust: pixiedust:

HH is a great place to stay. But as VMS indicated, a car is almost a must if you really want to get out and explore all the great offerings!

To be honest, I think it's pretty much essential that you have a car. Don't rule out a day trip to Savannah, by the way.

I'm piling on a little bit...but a car at HH is essential. You will enjoy the island so much more with wheels!

I'll pile it on a little thicker...you absolutely, positively, without a doubt need a car! We drove ours to the beach house every day instead of waiting for the bus in addition to going out to dinner, shopping, etc.

We loved it there:love: ...have a great trip!

I don't know what everyone is talking about!?!? The HH location is the closest location to bus stops and activities at OKW, you don't need a car at all!

Oh wait, you mean Hilton Head. Yup, need a car.......

A car would be helpful to get to the beach, but we only used ours once to get groceries and once to the beach during our last stay. Otherwise, we bicycled everywhere.

Just to reiterate the obvious.....

Its South Carolina, we don't build our towns with "walking-distance" or "mass-transit" in mind :)

Even the beach towns like Myrtle Beach, Charleston & Hilton Head are spread out over large distances. A car is a must if you want to experience anything beyond the few places near (within 1/2 mile) your resort/room.

Luckily in Hilton Head its pretty hard to get lost - just drive until you see water and turn around :)

Hope you have a great time!

actually, just to mix it up in case others are looking into HHI and cant/wont/dont want to have a car

its no where near essential or a must to have a car
the bus goes back and forth from the resort to the beach house all day and the beach house is just a short bike ride from the main resort.

theres quite a few very popular resteraunts at the marina right next door as well as some shopping which is about a 2 minute walk

tons of other stores and resteraunts are within biking distance

of course its always nice to have car but its not life or death

Okay - I could drive from Atlanta just to eat at Hudsons. Seriously. They have he best oysters and crabcakes I've ever had in my life.

I don't think the dining within walking distance is that great - and it's not cheap. I'd really want a car.
