Worst WDW Desserts!

I agree with OP regarding Dole Whips. Several years ago, the Sunshine Tree Terrace was closed (Citrus Swirls) and we tried the Dole Whips. Never again!

I don't usually have room for dessert at WDW, however, we have the free dining for our trip in October, so I'll be trying many desserts.

Any of the pastries in the France bakery are good!

I also agree, was not thrilled with the Dole Whip, but what is the Citrus Swirl, and were can i try it? :wave2:

Zebra Domes.....just didn't live up to the hype. Without the hype they wouldn't have been bad. With the hype they were so disappointing. Ours were sort of stale.

I totally agree about the zebra domes. I went on a mission to get them and was totally dissapointed. I do like the dole whips though!

Worst Dessert:

Tie-Dye Cheesecake from Pop Century

After this yiur stomach will feel the way this dessert looks :crazy2:
Awe........is it that bad? We're going to WDW in Sept, and staying at POR. I wanted to take the drive over to POP just to try the tie-dye cheesecake! It looks SOOO COOL!

My sentiments exactly! Kinda bummed about it too! I thought the zebra domes would be really good. Also, I had a really bad cherry turnover at Main Street Bakery. It was way too sweet! Put it this way, the ones at Arby's are way better!

Didn't have any really great desserts on this trip, but my favorite was about 7 years ago at Concourse Steak House. They had a Contemporary shaped chocolate mousse in layers with chocolate and raspberry syrup drizzled on it. I will NEVER forget that dessert. I don't know why they didn't keep serving it. :sad2:

The grapefruit sorbet at Jiko. It's so tart that it's painful, and just terrible.

We are staying at POP in Sept and I was looking forward to having a piece. I think I still might just to have my own view on it. :rolleyes1

I have NEVER met a dessert that I didn't like! :mickeybar

That's how I used to feel....at least until I had the strawberry shortcake at HDDR!!! It was more like mashed strawberries in jello over some 'cake-like' substance. My dh willl usually eat anything but he had one bite of that and pushed it away. I know others like it, but for us that have fresh strawberries over real shortcake...well, it just didn't get it done for us.

Wasn't crazy about the Zebra Domes either. But love Dole Whips.

I kept trying and trying to like the Citrus Swirl, but it just wasn't happening. The initial bite was ok, but something about that frozen OJ...it kept turning to a bitter taste in my mouth. Blech...

I will stick to my beloved Strawberry Swirls.

I didn't hate this, but I can't figure out what the hooplah was about the Grapefruit Cake at Brown Derby. It just tasted like a rather uninteresting cake. Now I realize with bakery items, it's SO easy to have inconsistency, so maybe that was the issue. But both DH and I were like "eh".

Maybe it was b/c it was post mass-exodus following Wishes (i.e. end of day), but the chocolate chip cookies we bought at Main Street Bakery were hard as a rock.

goofy4tink I have to agree with you on the strawberry shortcake at HDDR. I didn't like to food there at all and thought well I know I like strawberry shortcake that will have to fill me up. Wasn't I disappointed after one taste!

I love pralines but the ones on Main St. in MK do nothing for me.

The frozen bananas at AK .. yuck!! The funny thing is that I love bananas, chocolate and anything frozen :confused3

What a relief about the zebra domes! We're vegetarians, and they have gelatin, and we always resented not being able to have them...but now I don't feel like I'm missing much!

Don't shun me, but the Beaver Tails did nothing for me. They had very little taste. Hey, remember, I am honestly known by all my friends, families and acquaintances as "The Dessert Queen", no lie!! I have a vendor here at work that brings me desserts 'cause he knows I love them. I look at the dessert menu before the entree menu when I eat out. I consider myself an expert dessert connoisseur! I was mad I wasted my money on those 'Tails"!

Citrus swirl is soft swirl vanilla ice cream and soft frozen orange juice swirled together and served in a cup. You can buy them at the Sunshine Tree Terrace next to the Tiki Birds in MK.
Don't eat it too fast or you could get a brain freeze.

Hmmm, now that you mention it I have been a little underwhelmed with desserts at WDW except at the sit-down restaurants.

I wasn’t impressed with an apple dessert I got from the Main Street Bakery, and DH didn’t like his cherry turnover very much either. I enjoyed my Dole Whip, but I didn’t think it lived up to all the hype.

On the other hand, I have had excellent desserts from Kona Café (passion fruit mousse with a strawberry center), Le Cellier (sorbet), Liberty Tree Tavern (berry shortcake and bread pudding), and Artist Point (the legendary berry cobbler is incredible!).

My view on dessert is to know it is to love it, but I have had a few less than yummy experiences!

Dolphin Fountain-orange sherbet--tasted like the biiter orange peel and smelled like St. Joseph's Children's Asprin--even the kids begged not to eat it. :rotfl:

Raspberry Napolean at Flying Fish--Some sheets of Phyllo, average whipped crame and some fresh raspberries--I have never met a Napolean I didn't like but I learned that there is a first time for everything! :teeth:

Tiramisu from the stand outside Alfredo's in EPCOT--Really Bad!

Zebra Domes were good but really they were just hyped up too much for me so they were disappointing.

I love my Pineapple Dole Whip float though :cool1:
